Campgrounds near Beloit, Ohio
Beloit is a small village in southwestern Mahoning County, part of the Youngstown-Warren metropolitan area in northeastern Ohio. The surrounding countryside sits within an easy drive of Youngstown, Canton, Akron, and the Pennsylvania line, which puts several private RV parks and one large Army Corps of Engineers reservoir within a short haul of the village.
RV travelers typically choose between family-run private parks and public land on nearby reservoirs. Timashamie Family Campground sits just north in Salem, Chaparral Family Campground and Big Arb's Campground are within roughly a half-hour drive, Western Reserve Campground is northeast toward Canfield, and Paradise Lake Park N-20 anchors the East Rochester area to the south. Most of these private parks lean toward seasonal and weekly stays, but all keep overnight sites for travelers passing through.
For public-land camping, the closest major destination is Berlin Lake, a 3,590-acre Corps of Engineers reservoir on the Mahoning River just north of Beloit, with its Mill Creek Recreation Area providing the region's largest developed campground.
Things to do around Beloit
Water recreation is the main draw. Berlin Lake covers 3,590 acres with 70 miles of shoreline and is known for walleye, largemouth and smallmouth bass, muskie, crappie, and bluegill fishing, with boat ramps positioned around the reservoir. West Branch State Park, roughly an hour west near Ravenna, adds swimming, boating, and hiking on the 2,650-acre Michael J. Kirwan Reservoir along with an 18-hole disc golf course.
Smaller lakes give families quieter options. Paradise Lake Park N-20 surrounds a stocked lake with fishing and paddleboats, and Timashamie Family Campground has a heated swimming pool, a fishing lake, and a basketball court. Nearby, Guilford Lake State Park and the wildlife areas around Berlin Lake add trails, birding for nesting osprey and occasional bald eagles, and public hunting land managed by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

Most private campgrounds near Beloit run a defined April-to-October season. Timashamie Family Campground is open April 1 through October 31, and other family parks in the area follow similar spring-to-fall calendars. Peak family traffic hits between Memorial Day and Labor Day, when weekends fill with planned activities, and holiday weekends usually require reservations well in advance.
Public-land options run longer. West Branch State Park's campground operates year-round, but full services including flush restrooms, heated showers, and potable water only run from mid-April through October 31. From November 1 through April 1, only electric sites 1-33 and the group sites remain open, with portable toilets, no potable water, and the dump station closed.
Spring brings woodland wildflowers and green-up, fall delivers strong color through the beech and maple stands around Berlin Lake, and winter drops most of the region's snow between December and March. Shoulder-season RVers should confirm which loops stay open and whether water is turned on before booking.

How to book campgrounds near Beloit
For public campgrounds, use the federal and state systems. Berlin Lake's Mill Creek Campground books through Recreation.gov and is reservation-only, though same-day reservations are accepted when sites are available. Ohio State Parks, including West Branch, use the ReserveOhio system, with sites available up to six months in advance online or by calling 866-644-6727. Lakefront and full-hookup sites at West Branch commonly sell out the day they open for peak summer weekends.
Most private parks near Beloit take reservations by phone or through the operator's own website rather than a third-party portal. Non-holiday weekends at large parks often do not require a reservation, but holiday weekends and seasonal sites should be locked in early in the year.
What to expect on arrival
Expect a rural, wooded setting with rolling terrain. Berlin Lake sites are shaded by beech and maple, and lake levels can fluctuate through the year, so shoreline access varies by season. Cell coverage is generally usable in the area but can be spotty inside deeper campground loops.
Hookups vary by park. Timashamie Family Campground offers 20/30/50-amp full-hookup sites along with primitive options, on-site laundry, showers, and a camp store selling firewood, ice, and LP gas. Mill Creek at Berlin Lake offers 295 sites mixing wooded waterfront and open grassy spots, with over 100 electric sites plus a dump station, showers, and flush restrooms. West Branch has full-hookup and 50-amp electric sites plus a single non-electric site, and pets are permitted on all sites. Confirm rig-length limits and site slope before booking, since some sites need significant leveling.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Beloit, OH
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Beloit, OH?
An RV rental in Beloit is generally affordable compared with big-city pickup points like Cleveland or Pittsburgh. On RVezy, travel trailers typically run about $90 to $170 per night, Class C motorhomes land between $175 and $300, and larger Class A coaches range from $250 to $450. Hosts set their own nightly rates, so weekday bookings and shoulder-season trips in late April or September tend to be cheapest. Filter by Instant Book and look for hosts offering weekly discounts, then bundle add-ons like generator hours or camping chairs at booking. Reserving 2 to 3 months ahead of summer weekends helps lock in the best pricing for a cheap RV rental in Beloit.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Beloit%2C%20OhioWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Beloit, OH?
A standard driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Beloit. Ohio does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or special endorsement to operate the motorhomes, campervans, and travel trailers listed on RVezy, including Class A coaches up to 40 feet. Approved renters on RVezy are generally 25 or older, and ID verification happens right inside the booking flow, so there is no paperwork shuffle at pickup. Visiting from outside the US? Bring an International Driving Permit alongside your home-country license. For first-time renters, the licensing piece is usually the easiest part of the whole trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs my RV rental in Beloit protected if something goes wrong?
Every RV rental in Beloit booked through RVezy includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can head out on Route 224 or I-76 with real peace of mind. The protection plan helps cover most physical damage to the RV during your trip, and you select your coverage level during checkout. While it is not a traditional auto insurance policy, it provides meaningful financial protection if there is an unexpected bump on the way to Lake Milton or Berlin Lake. Choose the coverage tier that fits your route, then snap photos of the RV at pickup so any pre-existing scuffs are clearly documented.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat is the cancellation policy if my Beloit RV trip changes?
Booking is low-risk: RVezy, not the individual host, sets the cancellation policy for every motorhome rental in Beloit, and it is not displayed on the listing page. There is a money-back grace period right after you book, so if your plans shift soon after confirming, you are protected. RVezy also takes major disruptions into account, which matters in northeast Ohio where a sudden lake-effect snow squall or summer thunderstorm can change a weekend. Cancellation terms depend on how close to your trip you cancel, with full details in the RVezy Help Center. Booking early lets you lock in a rig with flexibility built in.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Beloit?
Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rental Beloit options are easy to find on RVezy. Just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on the search page and you'll see every motorhome and travel trailer whose host welcomes four-legged guests. Many hosts charge a small pet fee or ask for an extra cleaning deposit, which is clearly listed before you book. Once you're rolling, your dog will love Beloit-area trails like the Mahoning Valley's Western Reserve Greenway and the dog-friendly day-use areas at Lake Milton State Park, just 15 minutes north. Pro tip: pack a collapsible water bowl and a tie-out, since Ohio summer humidity climbs fast and most campgrounds require leashes under 6 feet.
ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/find-a-property/lake-milton-state-parkCan the RV be delivered to my campsite near Beloit?
Yes, RV delivery is one of the most popular options for an RV rental in Beloit, especially for first-timers who would rather skip driving a big rig. Many hosts within 30 to 60 miles of Beloit, including owners in Alliance, Salem, Sebring, and Youngstown, will tow the trailer or drive the motorhome straight to your campsite at Lake Milton State Park, Berlin Lake, or your own driveway, then level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system. Delivery fees are typically based on mileage and are listed on each host's page. Message the host before booking to confirm delivery to your exact campground loop.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Beloit%2C%20OhioHow far can I drive on an RV road trip from Beloit, OH?
You can go just about anywhere on an RV road trip from Beloit, OH, because the village sits at the crossroads of US-224, OH-14, and I-76. Cleveland is roughly 70 miles northwest, Pittsburgh is about 65 miles southeast, Cuyahoga Valley National Park is 60 miles, Lake Erie's Geneva-on-the-Lake is around 90 miles, and Amish Country in Holmes County is just 75 miles west. Each host sets a daily mileage allowance (often 100 to 150 free miles per day, with extra miles billed per mile), and some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage for longer trips. Pro tip: ask your host for an unlimited-mileage upgrade if you're planning a week-long loop through Ohio and Pennsylvania.
transportation.ohio.gov/programs/bywaysWhere are the best campgrounds near Beloit, OH?

Snag a Lake Milton site for sunset views and book Memorial Day or July 4 weekends as soon as the ReserveOhio window opens.
ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/find-a-property/lake-milton-state-parkWhen is the best time to take a Beloit, OH RV trip?
Late May through mid-October is the sweet spot for a Beloit, OH RV trip. June, July, and August bring warm days in the 78 to 85 degree Fahrenheit range, perfect for swimming at Lake Milton and grilling at the campsite, though humidity can be high. September and early October are the local insider favorite: crisp 65 to 72 degree days, fewer mosquitoes, and brilliant fall color across the Mahoning Valley hardwoods. Spring (April to mid-May) is quieter and cheaper but rainier. Winters are cold with lake-effect snow, so most campgrounds close from late October to mid-April. Pro tip: target the last two weekends of September for peak foliage and shoulder-season pricing.
weather.gov/cle/I'm first time renting an RV. Will I get help in Beloit?
You're in good hands. Every RVezy host in the Beloit area gives you a hands-on orientation at pickup or delivery, walking you through the generator, slide-outs, water system, propane, awning, and dump valves before you drive away. You can message the host directly from the listing to ask questions before you even book, and RVezy customer support is reachable before, during, and after your trip. Roads around Beloit are forgiving for first-timers: flat, rural two-lanes like OH-14 and US-62 are ideal for getting comfortable behind the wheel. Pro tip: choose a smaller Class C or campervan rental Beloit for your first trip, then graduate to a Class A once you've got the hang of it.
transportation.ohio.gov/working/operations/traffic-operations/safe-drivingWhat happens if I break down during my Beloit RV rental?
You are never stranded. Every motorhome rental in Beloit booked on RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, covering issues like flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing. Call the number provided in your booking confirmation and help is dispatched to your location, whether you are at a turnout on OH-14, parked at Berlin Lake, or stopped along the Ohio Turnpike. Your host is also a quick message away through the RVezy app for questions about quirks unique to their RV. Before you leave Beloit, save the roadside number to your phone contacts and screenshot your booking, so help is one tap away even in spotty rural cell coverage.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Beloit RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, crossing state lines is easy and common with an RV rental in Beloit. Pennsylvania is about 25 minutes east, West Virginia is roughly 90 minutes south, and New York's Allegheny region is around 2.5 hours northeast, all covered under RVezy's standard protection plan. Cross-border trips into Canada (Niagara Falls is about 4 hours north) are allowed on many listings but require host approval in advance, so message the host before booking. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage does not extend there. A popular RV road trip from Beloit is the loop through Pittsburgh, Ohiopyle State Park, and back via Cuyahoga Valley, an easy 3- to 4-day itinerary.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityHow much should I budget for fuel on an RV trip from Beloit?
Fuel is the biggest variable, but easy to estimate. Ohio gas prices typically run a bit below the national average, hovering around $3.20 to $3.60 per gallon in the Mahoning Valley. A Class C motorhome averages 8 to 10 miles per gallon, a Class A burns 6 to 8 mpg, and a campervan rental Beloit (like a Ford Transit or Mercedes Sprinter) can hit 15 to 18 mpg. For a 300-mile weekend loop in a Class C, plan on roughly $110 to $135 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up at the Pilot or TA travel centers along I-76 in North Jackson, which generally beat in-town prices and have lanes long enough to fit any rig without unhitching.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far ahead should I book campgrounds near Beloit?
For Ohio State Park campgrounds like Lake Milton, West Branch, and Pymatuning, the reservation window opens 6 months in advance through ReserveOhio at reserveohio.com, and prime summer weekends (Memorial Day, July 4, Labor Day) can sell out within hours of opening. US Army Corps sites at Berlin Lake book through Recreation.gov on the same 6-month window. Private parks like Whispering Pines in Sebring usually have more last-minute availability, often bookable 2 to 4 weeks out. Pro tip: if you strike out on a holiday weekend, target a Sunday-to-Thursday trip instead. You'll have lakeshore beaches at Lake Milton practically to yourself and save 20 to 30 percent on site fees.
reserveohio.com/What are driving conditions like around Beloit, OH?
Driving an RV around Beloit is refreshingly easy. The terrain is gently rolling, the roads (US-224, OH-14, OH-46) are wide, well-paved rural two-lanes, and traffic is light outside of weekday rush hour near Youngstown. I-76 and the Ohio Turnpike (I-80) handle most through-traffic, both RV-friendly with long on-ramps and plenty of fuel stops. Watch for lake-effect snow squalls November through March if you're winter camping, and be alert for deer at dawn and dusk on rural stretches. Low bridges are rare in this area, but always check your RV's height (most are 11 to 13 feet). Pro tip: avoid driving the narrow back roads through Amish Country near Holmes County after dark, when slow-moving buggies share the road.
transportation.ohio.gov/working/operations/traffic-operations/traffic-operationsWhat amenities will I find at campgrounds near Beloit?
Campgrounds near Beloit are well-equipped for a smooth RV stay. Lake Milton State Park offers electric hookups (30 and 50 amp), a central potable water fill, a dump station, hot showers, and flush toilets. Berlin Lake's Mill Creek campground (US Army Corps) has electric sites, water spigots, a dump station, and lake access. West Branch State Park provides 198 electric sites, two dump stations, and a camp store. Private parks like Whispering Pines have full hookups (water, sewer, electric) right at the site, plus Wi-Fi and laundry. Pro tip: most Ohio State Parks don't offer sewer at the site, so plan one dump-station stop on your way out. The free dump at Lake Milton is one of the cleanest in the region.
ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/find-a-property/lake-milton-state-parkWhat's inside a typical RV rental in Beloit?
You'll be impressed by how loaded these rigs are. A typical motorhome rental Beloit comes with a queen or king bed, convertible dinette, full kitchen (fridge, freezer, stove, microwave, sink), bathroom with toilet and shower, roof-mounted air conditioning, furnace, and seatbelted seating for travel. Most Class C and Class A coaches include a flat-screen TV, and many hosts add Wi-Fi hotspots, generators, and outdoor speakers as add-ons. Travel trailers and fifth wheels offer similar layouts without the cab. Sleeps counts on RVezy range from 2 to 10, so you can filter exactly for your crew. Pro tip: ask your host about a starter kit (sheets, towels, kitchen basics) so you can show up and start your family RV trip Beloit with nothing but groceries.
ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/find-a-property/west-branch-state-parkWhat add-ons and pickup options come with an RV rental in Beloit?
You can customize your trip with popular add-ons that most Beloit-area hosts offer: portable generators ($25 to $50 per day), bike racks, camping chairs and tables, propane fire pits, kitchen kits, bedding packages, Wi-Fi hotspots, and pet packages. Pickup is straightforward, usually right at the host's home in Beloit, Sebring, Alliance, or Salem, and dropoff is at the same spot at the time you agreed on. Mileage policies vary by host, with most offering 100 to 150 free miles per day; RV rental with unlimited mileage upgrades are available on many listings. Pro tip: bundle add-ons at booking rather than asking at pickup. Hosts often discount packages but charge per-item if added day-of.
ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/all-activities/campingHow does payment and the security deposit work for a Beloit RV rental?
Payment on RVezy is simple and secure: you pay through the platform with a credit or debit card, never directly to the host. Your total (nightly rate, fees, taxes, and add-ons) is shown clearly before you confirm, and the booking amount is charged according to the schedule shown at checkout. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment before pickup, typically $500 to $1,500 depending on the RV. As long as you return the rig clean, on time, and in the same condition, your deposit is released after the trip wraps. Take a 2-minute walkaround video at pickup and dropoff to keep your Beloit RV rental experience hassle-free and your deposit fully refunded.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I rent an RV in Beloit, OH in the winter?
Yes, winter RV rentals are available in Beloit, and they are an underrated adventure. Several hosts keep their RVs winter-ready with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, propane furnaces, and skirting, which is great for ice fishing on Berlin Lake or chasing snow at nearby ski areas. Most Ohio State Park campgrounds close their water systems by late October, but a handful, including Mosquito Lake and Pymatuning, keep electric loops open year-round. When booking a cold-weather RV rental in Beloit, message the host to confirm the rig is winterized for active use, bring extra propane, and plan to dump and refill water at heated facilities like those at Pymatuning State Park.
