Campgrounds and RV parks near Bradner, OH

Lake Erie is the primary regional draw. Maumee Bay State Park offers a swimming beach, a boardwalk through wet woods and marsh, a nature center, an inland lake for non-motorized boating, and more than 300 recorded bird species, which makes it a popular spring migration stop. A 57-acre inland lake is open to sailing, canoeing, and other non-motorized craft. Inland, Van Buren State Park has a small lake for fishing and kayaking, roughly 12 miles of bridle trails, and multi-use trails for hiking and biking. Toledo attractions within easy reach include the Toledo Zoo, the Toledo Museum of Art, Imagination Station, and Fort Meigs. Families staying at Adventure Bound Pleasant View also have on-site swimming, mini golf, an inflatable water park on the pond, a jump pad, and a fishing pond.

Peak camping season in northwest Ohio runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day, when Lake Erie beaches are open, showerhouses are fully staffed, and events run at the private resorts. Summers are warm and humid with frequent afternoon thunderstorms, and highs typically sit in the upper 70s to lower 80s Fahrenheit. Weekends at Maumee Bay State Park book out early, and reservations open up to six months in advance. Shoulder seasons work well for RV travel. Spring brings songbird migration through the Lake Erie marshes and cooler, wetter conditions, while fall offers lower humidity, thinner crowds, and steady weather into late October. Winter camping is possible but limited. Maumee Bay State Park remains open year-round, though from November 1 through April 30 the main showerhouses close, only two heated family restrooms with showers stay open, and water is turned off at full-hookup sites. Van Buren State Park also stays open year-round following its recent full-hookup upgrade.

Facilities vary widely between the public and private options. Maumee Bay State Park offers electric and full-hookup sites, paved pads, heated showerhouses in season, a camp store, and Wi-Fi across much of the park. Van Buren State Park was rebuilt in 2024 with full hookups at every site, but it has no showers and no flush toilets, only vault latrines, and the dump station sits near the park office rather than in the loop, so self-contained rigs do best there. Private parks are more amenity-heavy. Toledo East / Stony Ridge KOA Journey has long pull-thru full-hookup sites, a swimming pool, laundry, and a bathhouse. Adventure Bound Pleasant View leans toward family activities with a pool, pond features, mini golf, and a dog park, and includes a mix of seasonal and transient sites. Expect flat terrain, sun exposure, and mosquitoes near the Lake Erie marshes; bring bug spray and awning shade.
