Campgrounds and RV parks near Broadview Heights, OH

Cuyahoga Valley National Park is the anchor attraction. The park protects a stretch of the Cuyahoga River between Cleveland and Akron and includes Brandywine Falls, the Everett Covered Bridge, and more than 125 miles of hiking trails through forest, gorges, and wetlands. The Towpath Trail runs the length of the park and pairs well with the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad, which lets cyclists ride one way and return by train. Families often combine park visits with Cleveland Metroparks, the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo, and downtown Cleveland attractions. Cedar Point in Sandusky is about an hour and a half west and works as a full day trip. On-site amenities vary by campground. The Streetsboro KOA runs a seasonal pool, fishing ponds, gem mining, a nine-hole disc golf course, and a dog park, while Maple Lakes offers a swimming pool, fishing lakes, and organized events.

The camping season in northeast Ohio is short. Most private campgrounds around Broadview Heights open in spring and close by mid to late October. The Streetsboro / Cleveland SE KOA Holiday operates May 1 through October 31, and Maple Lakes Campgrounds runs from mid-April through mid-October. Winter RV travel to this area is not practical at most private parks, though some Ohio state park campgrounds stay open year-round with reduced services. Summer is peak season. Weekends fill quickly at the closer campgrounds, and Cuyahoga Valley National Park parking lots are crowded on warm-weather weekends between roughly 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Reserving well ahead is important for July, August, and holiday weekends. Fall brings the region's best combination of weather and lower crowds. Leaf color typically peaks in mid to late October, which overlaps with closing weekends at many parks. Early spring is quiet but cold and often wet, and some campground amenities such as pools and bathhouses may not yet be open.

Sites at the closer private parks are typically gravel or grass with 30- or 50-amp electric and water, and many offer full hookups. Some KOA sites are pull-through and big-rig friendly, though some interior loops are tight and leveling blocks are useful. Maple Lakes offers full-hookup RV sites that accommodate a range of RV sizes. Amenities usually include seasonal pools, playgrounds, laundry, bathhouses, camp stores, and dog areas. Cell service is generally reliable in this part of Ohio, and Wi-Fi is available at most private campgrounds with variable speed. Road access is straightforward. Interstate 71, Interstate 77, Interstate 80 (Ohio Turnpike), and State Route 303 connect Broadview Heights to the surrounding campgrounds. Note that Green Valley Nudist Camp is clothing-optional and requires membership or advance arrangement, so it is not a walk-up option for typical RV renters.
