The family campground at Mt Gilead State Park is open all year for camping enjoyment, but during the winter camping season, full hookup sites do not have water at the site and fees are reduced accordingly. Ice skating and ice fishing are possible on the park's lakes in the winter.
Spring brings wildflowers to the wooded areas of the park, and rainfall peaks in May, so expect soft ground on primitive sites and occasional thunderstorms.
