Camping near Centerville, Ohio
Centerville sits in the southern suburbs of Dayton in Montgomery County, putting RV travelers within easy reach of both the Miami Valley and southwest Ohio's state park system. The city itself is residential, so most campgrounds cluster in the farmland and lake country a short drive east and south, along the I-75 and I-71 corridors between Dayton and Cincinnati.
Private options close in include Oak & Ember Farms and Green Valley RV Park, with Rye Camp and Frontier Campground giving access to the Waynesville and Caesar Creek area. Farther south, Lebanon / Cincinnati NE KOA Holiday sits about 30 minutes from both downtown Cincinnati and Dayton with access from I-71 and I-75, and is roughly 8 miles from Kings Island amusement park.
The biggest public destination in the area is Caesar Creek State Park, about 30 minutes east of Centerville, where the campground features 287 campsites with 50-amp electric service, including 35 full hook-up sites, suitable for tents, RVs, and longer stays.
Things to do around Centerville
Water recreation drives most trips in this area. Caesar Creek State Park sits on a 2,830-acre lake with five boat launches, a 1,300-foot sandy swimming beach, and campground access to a boat ramp and a smaller camper's beach. Outdoor recreation at the park includes boating, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, fishing, mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, hunting, picnicking, and wildlife viewing, with ice fishing and cross-country skiing available in winter.
Families staying at Frontier Campground, Rye Camp, or Lebanon / Cincinnati NE KOA Holiday are within a short drive of Kings Island, the historic downtown of Lebanon, and the Little Miami Scenic Trail for cycling. The Caesar Creek campground offers miles of hiking trails, sits adjacent to the state park mountain bike trail system, and the Little Miami Scenic Trail is a short drive away.

Southwest Ohio has four distinct seasons. Late spring through early fall is the core RV window, with warm days, active lake use, and full amenities at both public and private parks. The wettest stretch is typically May, with average monthly precipitation around 4 inches, so early-season trips should plan for muddy sites and pop-up thunderstorms.
Summer weekends fill fast at Caesar Creek and the Lebanon KOA, particularly around Kings Island events and holiday weekends. Fall brings cooler nights, lower humidity, and foliage color through October. The campgrounds at Caesar Creek are open all year, but sites and facilities are reduced during the winter season, November 1 to April 1, when the campground is winterized and water is not available.
Winter camping is possible for self-contained rigs, but expect closed bathhouses at state parks and reduced hours at private parks. The Lebanon KOA operates year-round and offers monthly sites, with a seasonal outdoor pool available in the warmer months.

Highly recommend 15/10 rating here. Clean and ready to go upon the agreed time and extremely flexible for my rental return considering I hit a traffic jam for 4 hours. Will be renting again from him alone when my personal goes down.

How to book a site
Ohio State Parks use a single reservation system. Reservations are required to camp at Ohio State Parks, there are no walk-in campsites or self-registration, and bookings are made through reserveohio.com or by calling 866-644-6727, where campers can pick a campground and site type to see availability. Reservations open six months prior to the desired arrival date, with new inventory released at 7 a.m. Eastern, which matters for popular summer weekends at Caesar Creek.
Private parks such as Oak & Ember Farms, Frontier Campground, Rye Camp, Green Valley RV Park, and Lebanon / Cincinnati NE KOA Holiday take reservations directly through their own websites or phone lines, and each sets its own deposit and cancellation terms.
What to expect on site
Expect Midwest-style campgrounds: paved or gravel pads, shade from mature hardwoods, and mixed loops of electric and full-hookup sites. Caesar Creek's main campground is suitable for tents, RVs, and longer stays, with a check-in store inside the campground selling firewood, ice, ice cream, camping supplies, and kayak rentals. Check-in time is 3 p.m. and check-out is 1 p.m., when all camping equipment and vehicles must be removed from the site.
Big rigs are generally welcome. Frontier Campground sits about 5 miles west of Caesar Creek State Park just outside Waynesville, with 75 shaded RV sites with full hookups, many accommodating pull-through trailers with slide-outs. Maximum pull-through length at the Lebanon KOA is 75 feet. Bugs, humidity, and afternoon thunderstorms are normal in July and August, so bring screens and rain gear.

The Ohio BMV does not require a commercial driver's license (CDL) or special endorsement for motorhomes or trailers used recreationally. To book on RVezy, approved drivers are generally 25 or older with a valid license, and you will confirm your ID inside the platform during checkout. Visiting from abroad? rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionWhat is the cancellation policy if my Centerville RV trip plans change?
Booking your Centerville RV rental is low-risk. After that, refund amounts depend on how far out you are from your trip start date. You will see the full policy details at checkout and inside your RVezy account. Pro tip: if a forecast looks rough heading into your trip, message your host early; many will work with you on shifting dates so you can still enjoy your Ohio RV trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Centerville?
Absolutely, and Centerville is a great basecamp for traveling with pets. On RVezy, toggle the Pet-Friendly filter to see motorhomes and travel trailers whose hosts welcome dogs. Once parked, your pup can stretch out at Bark Park at Forest Field on Social Row Road, the city's fenced off-leash dog park, or hike the leashed trails at nearby Bill Yeck Park. Most Ohio State Park campgrounds, including Caesar Creek and John Bryan, also welcome leashed pets. Pro tip: message the host before booking your pet-friendly RV rental in Centerville to confirm pet size and any specifics so check-in goes smoothly.
centervilleohio.gov/420/Bark-Park-at-Forest-FieldCan the RV be delivered to my campground or driveway in Centerville?
Yes, RV delivery in Centerville is one of the easiest ways to start your trip, especially if you would rather not tow a large trailer through Dayton traffic. Many RVezy hosts in the Centerville and greater Miami Valley area offer delivery and full setup: they will tow the RV to your chosen campground (such as Caesar Creek or Cowan Lake) or your driveway in Washington Township, level it, hook up water and power, and walk you through every system. Filter for Delivery on the search page, then review each host's delivery radius and fees. Pro tip: ask about delivery to John Bryan State Park near Yellow Springs, about 30 miles northeast, for a stress-free first night.

weather.gov/iln/I have never rented an RV before. What should I expect at pickup in Centerville?
First time renting an RV? You are in great shape. Every RVezy host in Centerville provides a walkthrough at pickup, typically 30 to 60 minutes, where they show you how to operate the generator, slide-outs, awning, water pump, propane, dump valves, and more. You will leave with confidence and often a printed or digital cheat sheet. Many hosts also share short video tutorials in the RVezy app before your trip. Pro tip: take a quick test drive around the host's neighborhood before heading onto I-675, and message your host anytime during your trip; most respond within minutes.

Take a breath, you are covered. Pro tip: save the roadside assistance number in your phone before pickup and snap a photo of the RV's VIN; it speeds up service if you ever need help on the road.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are the best RV road trips I can take from Centerville?
Centerville sits at a Midwest crossroads, making RV road trips from Centerville especially rewarding. Popular routes include Hocking Hills State Park (about 130 miles east for hemlock canyons and waterfalls), Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky (about 210 miles south), Cuyahoga Valley National Park (about 215 miles northeast for waterfalls and the Towpath Trail), the Great Smoky Mountains (about 320 miles southeast), and Lake Erie's Marblehead and Put-in-Bay (about 180 miles north). Cross-border travel to Canada is allowed on many RVezy listings, but travel to Mexico is not covered. Pro tip: message the host before booking long trips to confirm out-of-state travel and whether unlimited mileage applies.
nps.gov/cuva/index.htmHow much should I budget for fuel on a Centerville RV trip?
Fuel is one of the most predictable parts of your budget. Gas prices in southwest Ohio typically run near or slightly below the national average, and Centerville has plenty of large-format stations along Wilmington Pike, Alex Bell Road, and I-675 where an RV can pull through easily. Expect roughly 8 to 10 mpg for a Class A, 10 to 14 mpg for a Class C, 18 to 22 mpg for a Class B campervan, and 12 to 18 mpg for a tow vehicle pulling a travel trailer. Pro tip: top off before heading to Caesar Creek, since station options thin out east of I-71.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Centerville?
For Ohio State Parks like Caesar Creek, John Bryan, and Cowan Lake, you can book up to six months in advance through the official ReserveOhio system, and for summer weekends (Memorial Day through Labor Day) you really should. Popular lakefront sites at Caesar Creek often fill within hours of opening. Private parks like Dayton KOA and Thousand Trails Wilmington typically have more availability and accept reservations year-round. Pro tip: if you strike out on a holiday weekend, check ReserveOhio early each morning; cancellations are released regularly and you can often grab a great site for your family RV trip in Centerville with a little persistence.
reserveohio.com/What are driving conditions like around Centerville?
Driving an RV in and around Centerville is refreshingly easy compared to bigger metros. The terrain is gently rolling, roads are well-maintained, and major routes like I-675, I-75, and US-35 have wide lanes and generous shoulders. Avoid the narrow historic downtown grid around Main Street and Franklin Street with anything over 25 feet; instead, route via Wilmington Pike or Alex Bell Road. Watch for winter snow squalls December through February and occasional severe thunderstorms in spring. Rush hour around Dayton (7 to 9 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m.) can slow traffic on I-75. Pro tip: leave Centerville before 9 a.m. or after 6 p.m. for a smoother roll toward your campground.
ohgo.com/Where can I dump tanks and fill fresh water near Centerville?
You will find plenty of options. Most campgrounds near Centerville, including Caesar Creek State Park, Cowan Lake State Park, John Bryan State Park, and Dayton KOA, have dump stations and potable water fills for registered guests. For non-campers, Flying J and Pilot travel centers along I-75 north of Centerville offer dump and fresh water for a small fee, and many private parks allow drop-in dumps for a modest charge. Ohio State Parks typically offer electric sites with a smaller number of full-hookup sites. Pro tip: top off fresh water before leaving the campground so you have plenty for the road and a great pot of coffee.
ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/find-a-property/caesar-creek-state-parkWhat is actually included inside a typical RV rental in Centerville?
You are getting a home on wheels. A typical motorhome rental in Centerville comes equipped with a queen or king bed, convertible dinette, kitchen (fridge/freezer, propane stove, microwave, sink, basic cookware), wet bath with toilet and shower, roof-mounted air conditioning, propane furnace, and seatbelts for everyone traveling. Many listings also include a generator for boondocking and a TV. Linens, towels, and kitchen kits are sometimes included or available as add-ons. Pro tip: check the listing's amenities section carefully and message the host to confirm what is included; many Centerville hosts add camping chairs, outdoor mats, and even bikes.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Centerville,%20OhioWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about for my Centerville rental?
Add-ons make your trip easier and they are easy to choose at checkout. Common Centerville RV rental add-ons include delivery and setup (priced per mile by the host), extra generator hours for off-grid camping, linen and kitchen kits, outdoor gear like bikes and kayaks, and propane refills. Pickup is usually at the host's home in Centerville, Washington Township, or nearby Kettering, with most hosts offering a 30 to 60 minute walkthrough. Pro tip: if you are flying into Dayton International Airport, bundle delivery with a linen kit so you can skip the rideshare-with-luggage scramble and head straight to your campsite.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Centerville,%20OhioHow does the security deposit and payment work on RVezy?
Payment is straightforward and secure. When you book an RV rental in Centerville on RVezy, you pay the full trip cost through the platform (never directly to the host) using a credit or debit card. A refundable security deposit, separate from the booking payment, is pre-authorized on your card before pickup and released after the host confirms the RV came back in good shape. Pro tip: do a quick video walkaround with your host at both pickup and drop-off; it is the single best way to avoid deposit disputes and keep everyone aligned for a smooth Ohio RV trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I rent an RV in Centerville during winter?
Yes, winter RV rental in Centerville is absolutely an option, and it can be magical when snow dusts the trees at Sugarcreek MetroPark. Many RVezy hosts keep their motorhomes available year-round; look for listings that mention heated and enclosed underbellies, heated holding tanks, and shore-power compatibility for cold-weather use. Daytime January highs average near 34 F with overnight lows around 22 F, so you will want a rig built for it. Pro tip: ask your host about skirting and tank heater operation during the walkthrough, and book a site with 30 or 50 amp shore power so you can run the furnace all night without draining the battery.
