Campgrounds near Christiansburg, Ohio
Christiansburg is a small village in Champaign County in west-central Ohio, positioned between Dayton and Springfield. The surrounding farmland is flat to gently rolling, and most camping options sit within a short drive on rural state routes or off Interstate 70. Travelers generally use the Christiansburg area as a base for lake recreation, the National Museum of the United States Air Force, and the glacial landscapes north toward St. Paris.
The closest state-run public campground is Kiser Lake State Park, roughly 20 miles north near St. Paris. The park sits in west-central Ohio, just over 30 miles from Dayton, with the entrance off OH-235 about four miles from St. Paris. The park's 531 acres of rolling, wooded hills and diverse wetlands surround the 396-acre lake, which is known for sailing and paddling since motors are not permitted.
Private options in the immediate area include Enon Beach Campground near Springfield, Rittenhouse Resort in Urbana, Oakdale Campground, and Poor Farmers RV Sales and Services, which handles sales and service for RV travelers passing through.
Things to do near Christiansburg
Kiser Lake is the primary outdoor draw. The lake offers good catches of largemouth bass, bluegill, channel catfish, crappie and wiper, with five fishing piers along the shoreline, and a valid Ohio fishing license is required. Sailing is popular at Kiser Lake as boats with motors are not permitted on the lake, keeping the water quiet for kayaks and canoes. Four hiking trails are located within the park and provide 4.5 scenic miles of walking, and a swim beach operates in season.
Families also use Enon Beach Campground for its clear, chlorine-free, spring-fed lake with a sandy beach and playground, and Rittenhouse Resort for its swimming pond and fishing pond. Off-site, the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton is within easy driving range, and Cedar Bog Nature Preserve near Urbana protects a rare fen habitat.

The area follows a humid continental pattern with warm, humid summers and cold, sometimes snowy winters. May is typically the wettest month, and afternoon thunderstorms are common from late spring through summer. Convective storms including thunderstorms, flood-producing rainstorms, hail, and tornadoes are common in the warmer months, and Ohio has experienced several deadly tornado outbreaks.
Peak camping demand runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day, with summer weekends and holidays filling quickly at Kiser Lake. Rittenhouse Resort operates on a seasonal calendar, with the campground open every year from May through October, while Enon Beach Campground stays open year-round.
Winter is quieter. At Kiser Lake State Park, off-peak season runs from November 1 to April 1, the marina is not open year-round, and under the proper winter conditions, park guests can enjoy sledding, ice fishing, and ice boating. Snow and ice can make it difficult to maneuver big rigs in and around the park, so checking the local weather forecast and road conditions before heading out is a good idea.
