Campgrounds and RV parks near Convoy, OH

State park campgrounds anchor most outdoor plans in this corner of Ohio and Indiana. Ouabache State Park offers hiking, a paved bike trail that connects into Bluffton, a live bison exhibit, and a 100-foot fire tower that can be climbed for views over the surrounding landscape. Facilities include a swimming pool, picnic shelters, and courts for tennis and basketball. Grand Lake St Marys State Park is built around a 13,500-acre reservoir with 52 miles of shoreline. It allows unlimited-horsepower boating, has eight state-operated launch ramps, fishing access, and a campground swimming pool and splash pad. Swimming in the lake itself is prohibited due to water quality concerns, so families rely on the campground pool. Timberwoods RV Park, Huggy Bear Campground and RV Sales, and Woodbrige Campground provide quieter home-base camping close to Convoy.

The prime RV season in this part of Ohio and eastern Indiana runs from late April through mid-October. Summer weekends fill quickly at Grand Lake St Marys, especially after school lets out, and holiday weekends around Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day should be booked well in advance. Ouabache State Park is open year-round for camping. Grand Lake St Marys operates on a peak and off-peak schedule, with the off-peak season running from November 1 to April 1; during that window electric service is limited to the first loop, the dump station and a water hydrant near the main office remain available, and most other amenities are winterized. Private parks such as Timberwoods, Huggy Bear, and Woodbrige often follow a similar April to October rhythm, though some hold monthly and seasonal sites year-round. Blue-green algae advisories are common on Grand Lake St Marys during warmer months, and the Ohio Department of Health posts water quality advisories from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Sites near Convoy skew toward level, gravel or grass pads suitable for travel trailers and Class C motorhomes. Private parks such as Timberwoods, Huggy Bear, and Woodbrige typically offer 30 and 50 amp electric, water, and sewer hookups, with dump stations for sites without full service. Grand Lake St Marys has around 200 sites, including 148 electric, 33 full-hookup, and 10 non-electric sites, plus seven rental cabins. All roads and pads are paved, with both pull-through and back-in options. Amenities include a pool with splash pad, playground, camp store, and dump station. Ouabache has 132 sites, most with electric hookups, plus a comfort station, dump station, and shelters. Firewood must be purchased locally to prevent invasive pests, and alcohol is prohibited in Indiana state parks.
