Campgrounds and RV parks near Crestline, OH

Crestline sits in north-central Ohio at the edge of Richland and Crawford counties, roughly halfway between Mansfield and Marion. The area is flat to gently rolling farmland cut by the Sandusky and Olentangy river systems, which shapes where campgrounds are clustered: private resorts near Shelby and Mount Gilead, and one state-park campground within an easy drive. RV travelers have two distinct styles to choose from. Amenity-heavy private resorts like Shelby / Mansfield KOA Resort and Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: Columbus North lean hard into pools, splash pads, and scheduled kid programming. Mt Gilead State Park, by contrast, is a quiet, wooded 181-acre park with a small campground focused on paddling, fishing, and hiking. Crestline itself is a small town, so most services, groceries, and fuel stops sit in Mansfield, Ontario, or Marion. Cedar Point, Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, and Amish Country are all within roughly an hour, which makes the region a practical base for a multi-stop Ohio trip rather than a single-destination stay.

The two systems in play work differently. Mt Gilead State Park is reserved through ReserveOhio (reserveohio.com) or by phone at 866-644-6727, with reservations available up to six months in advance of the arrival date and released at 7 a.m. Eastern. Popular summer weekends should be booked as early as that window allows. Private resorts run their own reservation systems. Shelby / Mansfield KOA Resort takes bookings through the KOA website or by phone, and Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: Columbus North books through its own site. Mt. Gilead KOA Holiday and River Bend Family Campground handle nightly, seasonal, and cabin rentals directly. For big rigs, confirm site length and pull-through availability before booking. Reviewers consistently note that some sites at Mt Gilead State Park are tight for larger RVs and lack pull-throughs, so measure your rig and match it to the specific site shown at reservation.
