Campgrounds near Delphos, Ohio
Delphos sits in western Ohio along the Miami and Erie Canal, straddling Allen and Van Wert counties about 14 miles northwest of Lima. The surrounding landscape is flat farmland cut by the Auglaize River watershed, which makes for easy RV access on level pads and short drives between towns.
RV travelers have a mix of small private parks close to town and a large state park within about a 40-minute drive. Huggy Bear Campground and RV Sales and Easy Campground are among the closest options and lean toward simple, full-service private grounds. Timberwoods RV Park and Woodbrige Campground add capacity and quieter, wooded settings for longer stays.
For lakefront camping, Grand Lake St Marys State Park is the anchor destination in the region, sitting on Ohio's largest inland lake at 13,500 acres. It draws most of the reservation demand and is the main draw for families combining boating, fishing, and beach time with an RV trip.
Things to do near Delphos
The Miami and Erie Canal towpath and small-town historic districts give Delphos itself a walkable base for morning coffee and short bike rides. Nearby Lima adds museums, restaurants, and grocery resupply within easy reach of any campsite.
Most trip planning centers on Grand Lake St Marys, roughly 30 miles south. Recreation options include a swimming pool with splash pad, playground, horseshoe pits, and mini golf. Boat docks provide direct lake access for fishing and boating, though swimming in the lake itself is prohibited due to water quality concerns.
Anglers target crappie, bluegill, and catfish from shore or boat. Cyclists use the paved park roads and regional rail trails for flat, family-friendly rides.

Western Ohio has a four-season climate with a clear peak camping window from late May through early October. Summers are warm and humid, while winters are freezing, snowy, and windy. Late spring brings the wettest stretch and greener conditions, while July and August deliver the warmest lake temperatures and busiest campgrounds.
Holiday weekends around Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day book out earliest at Grand Lake St Marys, so lock in dates well in advance. Weekday stays in June and September are typically easier to secure and quieter on the water.
Shoulder-season trips in April and October can be pleasant but cool at night, and some private parks reduce services. From November through March, expect limited amenities at private parks, potential water shutoffs, and colder overnight lows that require winter-ready RV setups. Grand Lake St. Marys State Park remains open year-round, though most campers focus their trips between April and October.
How to book campgrounds near Delphos
Reservations for all campsites at Ohio State Parks may be made up to six months in advance by visiting reserveohio.com or by calling (866) 644-6727. For Grand Lake St Marys, book as soon as the six-month window opens for summer weekends and lakefront full-hookup sites.
The campground offers around 200 campsites: 148 electric sites, 33 full hookup sites with water and sewer, and 10 standard non-electric sites, plus seven rustic rental cabins with lake views. All roads and site pads are paved, with both pull-through and back-in options available.
Private parks like Huggy Bear Campground and RV Sales, Easy Campground, Timberwoods RV Park, and Woodbrige Campground generally take direct phone or website bookings. Call ahead to confirm rig length, hookup type, and pet policy before arrival.
What to expect
Sites near Delphos tend to be level and easy to navigate for first-time RV travelers. Private parks in the area are compact and community-oriented, with basic hookups and laundry common at most locations. Cell service is generally reliable across the region.
At Grand Lake St Marys, facilities are more built out. Modern restrooms feature flush toilets and hot showers. A full-service camp store offers supplies and bike rentals, and loans fishing gear and games to registered campers. Each campsite includes a fire ring, grill, and picnic table. The campground operates year-round and welcomes RVs, though reviewers note that pull-through sites work best for units under 35 feet if towing a vehicle.
Biting insects peak from June through August near the lake, so pack repellent and screen tents.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Delphos, OH
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Delphos, OH?
RV rental in Delphos is one of the most affordable ways to explore the Midwest, with nightly rates typically starting around $75 for travel trailers, $125 for Class C motorhomes, and $200+ for larger Class A coaches. Because RVezy hosts are real RV owners and not a corporate fleet, you will find cheap RV rental Delphos options that often beat hotel pricing for families. To save more, book midweek, travel in the shoulder months of April, May, September, or October when Allen and Van Wert county campgrounds are quieter, and look for listings with unlimited mileage. Pro tip: bundling delivery with a longer stay often unlocks weekly discounts directly from the host.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Delphos%2C%20OhioDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Delphos?
Good news: a regular Ohio (or any U.S. or Canadian) driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Delphos. There is no CDL or special motorhome endorsement required by the State of Ohio for the personal-use RVs available on RVezy, including Class A, Class C, and campervan rentals. Approved drivers on RVezy are generally 25 or older, and your ID is verified securely through the platform during booking. Visiting from overseas to explore northwest Ohio? Pick up an International Driving Permit from your home auto club before flying in. Most first-time renters are pleasantly surprised at how simple the licensing side is.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat protection and roadside assistance is included with my Delphos RV rental?
Every RVezy booking in Delphos includes a renter protection plan plus 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit U.S. Route 30 with real peace of mind. The protection plan covers most accidental damage to the vehicle, and you choose your coverage tier (not the host) during checkout to match your comfort level. If you get a flat outside Lima, run into battery trouble at Grand Lake St. Marys, or need a tow back toward Delphos, one call gets help dispatched any hour. Protection plans are not standard auto insurance, but they provide substantial financial protection designed to keep small hiccups from derailing your Ohio RV trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Delphos RV trip?
Booking is low-risk: RVezy (not the host) sets the cancellation policy, and every reservation includes a money-back grace period right after you book. That means if plans change shortly after locking in your RV rental Ohio adventure, you are protected. Refund outcomes after the grace period depend on how close you are to the trip start date, so the sooner you let us know, the more flexible the options. You will not see a cancellation policy listed on individual Delphos listings because it is handled platform-wide. Pro tip: book early to secure summer weekends around Lake Loramie or Indian Lake, knowing you have a safety net if life happens.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a Delphos RV rental?
Absolutely, a pet-friendly RV rental Delphos trip is easy to put together. Toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you will see plenty of Class C motorhomes and travel trailers whose hosts welcome dogs (some allow cats too). Many local campgrounds welcome four-legged guests, including Grand Lake St. Marys State Park, which has leashed-pet areas and shaded sites. Dogs are also permitted on leash at Ohio State Parks, so you can hike together at Independence Dam or Lake Loramie. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm any pet fee and ask about their favorite local off-leash spots.
ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/find-a-property/state-parksCan the RV be delivered to me in Delphos?
Yes, RV delivery Delphos is one of the most popular options on RVezy, and it is a game-changer for first-time renters. Many hosts in the Delphos, Lima, and Van Wert area will drive the RV to your campsite, a family member's driveway, or a local event venue, then level it, hook up water and 30/50-amp power, and walk you through everything before they leave. That means zero stress about backing into a tight site or maneuvering through downtown Lima. Delivery fees vary by distance, so message the host with your destination address for an exact quote. It is the easiest way to start your Delphos RV trip.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Delphos%2C%20OhioHow far can I drive on a Delphos RV rental, and how do mileage policies work?
You have plenty of road ahead. Hosts on RVezy set their own mileage allowances, and many Delphos listings offer generous daily limits or even RV rental with unlimited mileage, which is ideal for a longer Ohio loop. From Delphos you can reach Cedar Point in Sandusky in about 2 hours (about 115 miles), Indianapolis in roughly 2.5 hours (about 160 miles), Cuyahoga Valley National Park in about 3 hours (about 180 miles), and Hocking Hills State Park in about 3.5 hours (about 170 miles). Before booking, check the listing's daily mileage cap and overage rate. Pro tip: if you are planning a multi-state RV road trip from Delphos, filter for unlimited mileage first to keep budgeting simple.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Delphos%2C%20OhioWhere are the best campgrounds near Delphos, OH?
The best campgrounds near Delphos mix lakes, hookups, and small-town charm. Top picks include Ottawa Metro Park area campgrounds near Lima, Grand Lake St. Marys State Park (about 40 minutes south, Ohio's largest inland lake with electric sites), Lake Loramie State Park (about an hour southeast, water and electric hookups and great paddling), Indian Lake State Park (about an hour southeast with full-hookup options), and Wapakoneta / Lima South KOA Journey (about 30 minutes east, full hookups and cabins). Pro tip: book Grand Lake St. Marys 3 to 6 months ahead for July weekends, since lakefront sites go fast.
ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/find-a-property/state-parksWhen is the best time of year for RV camping in Delphos?
Late May through early October is the sweet spot for RV camping Delphos travelers love most, with average highs from the low 70s in May to the mid-80s in July and cool evenings perfect for campfires. June and September are arguably the best of all: warm days, fewer mosquitoes, and easier campground reservations. Fall foliage along the Auglaize River and Ottawa-area trails typically peaks in mid to late October. Winters are genuinely cold (January averages roughly 20 to 35 degrees Fahrenheit with snow), so most local campgrounds close from November through March. Pro tip: aim for the Delphos Canal Days festival in September for the local vibe alongside crisp shoulder-season camping weather.
weather.gov/iln/I've never rented an RV before. Is Delphos a good place to start?
Delphos is one of the friendliest places in Ohio for first time renting an RV. The terrain is flat and uncrowded, U.S. Route 30 and State Route 309 are easy highways, and you can be at a quiet campsite within 20 minutes of pickup. Every RVezy host provides a full orientation walkthrough at pickup: how to extend the slide-outs, run propane and water systems, hook up to shore power, and dump the tanks. Many hosts in northwest Ohio also offer delivery so you can skip the driving altogether. You can message your host any time during the trip with questions, and RVezy's support team is just a call away.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsWhat happens if something goes wrong with the RV during my trip?
You are never on your own. Every Delphos RV rental on RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, covering breakdowns, flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing. If you are parked at Lake Loramie and the fridge stops cooling, message your host directly through the RVezy app, they know their RV best and usually have a quick fix. For mechanical issues on the road between Delphos and Toledo, call roadside assistance and they will dispatch help to your location. RVezy customer support is also available before, during, and after your trip, so small hiccups rarely slow down a well-planned Ohio adventure.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Delphos RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Yes, interstate travel is welcomed on most Delphos RVs, and it is one of the perks of being centrally located in the Midwest. Popular cross-border drives include Michigan (Detroit is about 2.5 hours north), Indiana (Fort Wayne is about 45 minutes west), Kentucky (about 3.5 hours south), and Pennsylvania (about 5 hours east). Cross-border travel into Canada may be allowed depending on the host and insurance coverage, so confirm with your host in advance if you are eyeing Ontario. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on any RVezy rental because insurance does not extend there. Pro tip: a 5-day loop through Detroit, Niagara Falls (via Ontario with host approval), and back makes an unforgettable RV road trip from Delphos.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel mileage and gas budget should I plan for?
Budgeting fuel for your Delphos motorhome rental is straightforward. Class B campervans typically get 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes around 8 to 12 MPG, Class A coaches 6 to 10 MPG, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (often 10 to 14 MPG). Gas in the Delphos and Lima area tends to run close to the national average, with plenty of stations along U.S. Route 30 and I-75. For a 300-mile weekend loop to Hocking Hills and back in a Class C, expect roughly $120 to $160 in fuel at typical prices. Pro tip: GasBuddy and the Pilot/Flying J app help you find the cheapest diesel and unleaded along I-75, the main north-south corridor for Ohio RV travel.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far ahead should I book a campground near Delphos?
For a smooth Delphos RV trip, book Ohio State Park campgrounds 4 to 6 months in advance for summer weekends, especially Grand Lake St. Marys, Lake Loramie, and Indian Lake. Ohio State Parks use the official reservation system at reserveohio.com, which opens bookings up to six months out. Private parks like the Wapakoneta / Lima South KOA Journey can typically be booked 1 to 2 months ahead, and midweek sites are usually available even on short notice. Pro tip: if your dates are flexible, Sunday through Thursday stays at Grand Lake St. Marys are dramatically easier to grab and often quieter, giving you more lakefront to yourself.
reserveohio.com/What are local driving conditions like around Delphos?
Driving an RV around Delphos is refreshingly stress-free. The terrain is flat, traffic is light outside Lima rush hour, and U.S. Route 30 (the main east-west route through Delphos) is a wide, well-maintained highway that is friendly for first-time RVers. Watch for low-clearance railroad underpasses in downtown Delphos and Lima (some are under 12 feet), and slow down for Amish horse-and-buggy traffic on county roads east of Delphos toward Bluffton. In winter, snow squalls can occasionally reduce visibility on I-75. Pro tip: stick to U.S. Route 30 and State Route 309 for larger rigs, and use the canal-side lots when parking in town.
transportation.ohio.gov/programs/ohgoWhat amenities do campgrounds near Delphos offer, and where can I dump and refill water?
Campgrounds near Delphos are well-equipped for a comfortable stay. Most sites at the Wapakoneta / Lima South KOA and Ottawa Metro Park area campgrounds offer 30/50-amp electric, water, and sewer hookups, plus showers, laundry, and Wi-Fi. Grand Lake St. Marys State Park has electric sites with a central dump station and potable water fill. For dumping black and gray tanks between trips, the KOA offers dump access (small fee for non-guests), and Ohio State Park dump stations are typically free for registered campers. Pro tip: top off your fresh water tank before leaving Delphos, the city water is excellent and it saves time at the campground.
ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/find-a-property/state-parksWhat amenities come standard in a Delphos RV rental?
You will be impressed at how well-equipped these rigs are. A typical Delphos motorhome rental or travel trailer includes a queen or king bed, convertible dinette or bunk beds (great for a family RV trip Delphos parents love), a full kitchen with fridge, stove, microwave, and sink, a bathroom with shower and toilet, air conditioning, propane furnace, and seatbelted seating for travel. Many listings also include a generator, outdoor awning, flat-screen TV, and even a Wi-Fi hotspot or Starlink. Linens, kitchenware, and camp chairs are often included or available as add-ons. Pro tip: filter by Sleeps count and review the photo gallery so you pick a layout that matches how your family actually camps.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Delphos%2C%20OhioWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about?
Hosts in Delphos offer genuinely useful add-ons that make your RV camping Delphos trip smoother. Common options include linen and kitchen kits ($25 to $75), generator use (often $3 to $5 per hour), bike racks, kayaks, portable grills, and camping chairs. Pickup is usually at the host's address in or near Delphos with a 60 to 90 minute walkthrough, and Instant Book and Delivery listings make planning easier. One-way trips are sometimes possible, so message the host first to ask. Mileage policies vary, with some offering unlimited mileage and others 100 to 150 free miles per day. Pro tip: confirm pickup and drop-off times before booking, and ask the host to pre-stock propane to save a stop on day one.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Delphos%2C%20OhioHow do payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure: when you book your RV rental in Delphos, you pay through RVezy with a credit card, and funds are held safely until the trip starts. Hosts set a refundable security deposit (typically $500 to $1,500 for Delphos listings) that is pre-authorized on your card a few days before pickup, not actually charged unless there is damage or a policy issue. After a clean return, the hold is released, usually within a few days. To avoid surprises, do a thorough walkthrough at pickup with photos, follow the host's tank-dump and fuel-return instructions, and message the host immediately if anything happens. Most renters get their full deposit back without a hitch.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I rent an RV in Delphos in the winter?
Yes, and winter RVing in Delphos can be a memorable adventure if you come prepared. A handful of RVezy hosts keep their rigs available year-round, and you will want to filter for RVs with heated holding tanks, an enclosed underbelly, and a strong propane furnace for January temperatures that average roughly 20 to 35 degrees Fahrenheit. Grand Lake St. Marys State Park keeps limited sites with electric hookups open in the cold months, so you can plug into shore power and stay toasty. Pro tip: park near a campground bathhouse, skip filling the fresh water tank (use jugs instead to prevent freezing), and use a heated water hose if you need a hookup. It is quiet, beautiful, and totally doable.
