Campgrounds near Delta, Ohio
Delta sits in Fulton County in northwest Ohio, on U.S. Route 20 between Toledo and the Indiana line. The surrounding area is flat farmland cut by the Maumee River and its tributaries, with the Oak Openings Region and the Maumee State Scenic River just to the east and south. Interstate 80/90 (the Ohio Turnpike) and U.S. 20 give RV travelers easy east-west access, and Toledo Express Airport is roughly fifteen minutes away.
Campgrounds in the area range from large private family resorts to a small state park loop. Sunny's Campgrounds outside Wauseon is a full-amenity family park with hundreds of sites and multiple lakes, while Bluegrass Campground and Twin Acres Campground serve RVers looking for quieter, mid-sized private grounds. Big Sandy Toledo-Maumee Campground sits closer to the Oak Openings corridor near Swanton, and Mary Jane Thurston State Park Campground offers riverfront public camping along the Maumee.
Most RV renters use Delta as a base for Toledo-area day trips, Lake Erie beaches, or a stopover on the Turnpike between Chicago and Cleveland.
Things to do near Delta
The Maumee River is the main draw. At Mary Jane Thurston State Park, RV renters can fish one of Ohio's better stream fisheries for smallmouth bass, white bass, catfish, and northern pike, launch a boat or kayak from the park ramp, and walk the Storybook Trail along the marina. The park also has an archery range with static and 3-D targets set at 10, 20, 30, and 40 yards, plus about nine miles of multi-use trails.
Families staying at Sunny's Campgrounds have on-site swimming lakes, paddle boats, mini golf, basketball and volleyball courts, and playgrounds without leaving the property. Day trips include the Oak Openings Preserve for hiking and cycling, Sauder Village in Archbold for living-history exhibits, the Toledo Zoo, and Maumee Bay State Park on Lake Erie for beach access and a boardwalk through the marsh.

The private campgrounds around Delta run a standard Midwest season. Big Sandy Toledo-Maumee Campground and Twin Acres Campground typically open in mid to late April and close in early October, and most private grounds require advance reservations for summer weekends. Sunny's Campgrounds operates roughly late April through mid-October as a large family park with a heavy summer schedule of live music and themed weekends.
Mary Jane Thurston State Park Campground operates year-round, and under proper winter conditions the park keeps a sled hill open in the campground and trails passable for cold-weather use. Peak booking pressure runs Memorial Day through Labor Day, especially on holiday weekends when the state park enforces a two-night minimum.
Spring and fall are quieter and better for anglers and hikers, but overnight temperatures can drop close to freezing well into May and again by mid-October, so furnace-equipped rigs are the safer rental choice outside summer.

We rented this trailer from David for a work event/music festival and it was absolutely amazing. The air conditioning alone was enough to make the entire process SO worth it in the 90 degree summer heat. We had an amazing time and wish we would have had the time and days to use more of the amenities he offered!

How to book near Delta
Mary Jane Thurston State Park Campground is reserved through the Ohio State Parks system at reserveohio.com or by phone at (866) 644-6727. Sites can be booked up to six months in advance, and weekend stays require a two-night minimum. The campground offers both non-electric and electric sites, several of which have water hookups, and pets are allowed at all sites.
Private campgrounds handle their own bookings. Sunny's Campgrounds, Bluegrass Campground, Twin Acres Campground, and Big Sandy Toledo-Maumee Campground all take direct reservations by phone or through their websites. For summer holiday weekends, book several months out; many of these grounds carry large seasonal populations that reduce the pool of transient sites.
What to expect on the ground
Mary Jane Thurston is a small, compact campground with riverfront sites along the Maumee; some sites sit closer to State Route 65, so highway noise is a factor away from the river. Showers are located at the marina, roughly a quarter-mile walk from the loop, and a potable water fill and dump station are near the park office.
Sunny's Campgrounds is large and social, spanning about 115 acres with roughly 800 sites, five lakes, a mix of pull-through and back-in sites, 30- and 50-amp electric, full hookups on many sites, and a strong seasonal community. Big Sandy Toledo-Maumee Campground is semi-wooded with a swim lake and roughly 180 to 200 sites. Cell service is generally good across the area, and mosquitoes can be heavy near wetlands and standing water, so bug spray is a summer essential.

For a 500-mile loop from Delta to Cedar Point and back in a Class C, plan on roughly $150 to $200 in fuel. For Ohio state parks like Harrison Lake or Maumee Bay, reserve as early as possible, the booking window opens six months ahead at ReserveOhio.com, and prime summer weekends often fill within days. Private parks like Toledo East/Stony Ridge KOA can usually be grabbed two to four weeks out, while shoulder-season weekdays in May or September are often bookable a few days before arrival. The week around the Fulton County Fair in early September is the toughest local window, lock in sites at least three months ahead. Pro tip: if your favorite campground is full, set a cancellation alert and check the ReserveOhio system early mornings, openings pop up daily.

Summer thunderstorms can produce strong crosswinds, so check the forecast before tall Class A travel. Pro tip: avoid I-475 near Toledo during weekday rush hour and stick to the turnpike for smoother sailing in a large rig.

Many hosts also add a TV, generator or solar setup, outdoor speaker, awning, and Wi-Fi hotspot. Linens, kitchenware, and a basic camp kit are often included, just confirm in the listing details. Pro tip: filter by sleeps count and RV type on RVezy, then read the amenities list carefully so your family RV trip Delta plans line up with the rig's real-world setup.
nhtsa.gov/road-safety/rv-safetyWhat add-ons and pickup options should I know about?

Filter for Instant Book and unlimited mileage if you're planning a long Delta to Mackinac loop and want fewer surprises.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Delta%2C%20OhioHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure. You pay through the RVezy platform with a credit or debit card when you book, not in cash to the host. A refundable security deposit is held separately on your card before the trip starts to cover potential incidentals like excess mileage or a missed dump station, and it's released after the host confirms the rig came back in good shape. Amounts vary by listing but are clearly shown before you confirm. Complete the pre-trip and post-trip walkthrough photos with your host and follow the fuel and dump return instructions exactly, that's the easiest way to get your full deposit back fast after your Delta, Ohio adventure.
