Campgrounds and RV parks near Dennison, OH

Lake recreation drives most trips. Tappan Lake allows boats up to 399 horsepower, supporting speedboating, water skiing and tubing, plus swimming at a public beach and fishing. Clendening Lake, Ohio's largest undeveloped lake, has a 10-horsepower limit that keeps things peaceful for anglers and paddlers. Atwood Lake has a 25-horsepower limit suited to sailing and pleasure boating, with more than 500 campsites and roughly 6.5 miles of hiking trails within the park. Tappan Lake Park has more than 10 miles of wooded trails, and the Buckeye Trail passes the lake's western shoreline. Camp Tuscazoar Foundation draws hikers, mountain bikers, and horse riders across its wooded property, with the restored Zoarville Station Bridge nearby. The historic village of Zoar and the Dennison Railroad Depot Museum make worthwhile non-lake outings.

The MWCD camping season is concentrated from late spring through early fall. A seasonal camping permit at Atwood Lake Park is available for a seven-month period beginning April 1st and ending October 31st, with a limited number of campsites designated for seasonal camping. That window reflects when sites and amenities are generally available across the MWCD system. Summer is peak season. Holiday weekends fill quickly and benefit from early booking, and MWCD applies peak weekend and holiday rates for stays around Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, and the Atwood Fall Festival. Spring and fall bring cool nights, fewer crowds, and good fishing, but limited beach and marina services. Winters in Tuscarawas County are cold, often snowy, and most lake-park campgrounds, beaches, and marinas close or operate on a reduced footprint, though water is shut off at full-hookup campsites during the winter. Camp Tuscazoar hosts visitors year round for hiking, biking, and group programs.

MWCD lake parks near Dennison are family-oriented and well maintained, with playgrounds, picnic shelters, dump stations, and a mix of electric, water, and sewer hookups.
