Eaton sits in Preble County in southwestern Ohio, along the US-35 and I-70 corridors near the Indiana line. RV travelers use it as a practical base for exploring the rolling farmland of the Miami Valley, the covered bridges of Preble County, and the beech-maple forest at Hueston Woods State Park, which spans nearly 3,000 acres including 625-acre Acton Lake and a 200-acre old-growth stand designated a National Natural Landmark.
Camping options mix private parks with a large state-park campground. Off The Hook Campground and Archway Campground sit close to town, with Archway offering full-hookup RV and primitive tent sites between US 40 and I-70, including pull-through and back-in options. Natural Springs Resort provides another private option nearby.
For state-park camping, Horsemans Camp - Hueston Woods State Park serves equestrian visitors, while Area 3/4 - Hueston Woods State Park sits within the main modern campground on Acton Lake. The park is about a half-hour drive southeast of Eaton, near Oxford.

Peak camping season runs late spring through early fall. Summer weekends at Hueston Woods fill quickly, and holiday windows around Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day are the tightest. Weekend reservations should be booked well in advance.
Shoulder seasons offer easier availability. Spring brings wildflowers and green forest at Hueston Woods, along with variable rain and the region's wettest month in May. Fall delivers reliable color in the beech-maple canopy through October, with cool nights that favor campfires.
Winter is quiet. Hueston Woods runs an off-peak season from November 1 to April 1, with shower house, dump station, and water available, and the A and B rows, cabins, and lodges open. Full-hookup sites offer electric only during winter months. Some private parks near Eaton close or reduce services during the coldest months, so calling ahead is advised for late-fall and winter trips.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Eaton%2C+OHDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Eaton, Ohio?
Good news: your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Eaton, Ohio. Ohio does not require a commercial driver's license or any special endorsement for personal-use motorhomes or travel trailers, no matter the size of the RV you choose on RVezy. You'll just need to be 25 or older and upload a clear photo of your valid driver's license, and RVezy verifies your identity right through the platform before your trip starts. Visiting from outside the US? Bring an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with your home-country license. Most first-time renters are surprised how simple the paperwork is, so you can focus on planning your covered-bridge tour instead.
publicsafety.ohio.gov/divisions/bmvWhat protection is included when I book an RV in Eaton?
Every RVezy booking in Eaton includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so you can hit US Route 35 with real peace of mind. The protection plan covers physical damage to the RV during your trip, and you choose your coverage level at checkout (Basic, Standard, or Premium) based on how much financial protection you want and your preferred deductible. Roadside assistance is included with every protection plan and helps with flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, and towing if you run into trouble outside Lewisburg or at a campground. Tip: if it is your first time renting an RV, picking a higher protection tier lowers your out-of-pocket responsibility and makes for a more relaxed trip.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat if I need to cancel my Eaton RV rental?
Cancelling is straightforward. RVezy sets the cancellation policy (not individual hosts), and every booking includes a short grace period after booking during which you can cancel for a full refund. After that window, refund amounts depend on how far out you cancel from your trip start date, with more flexibility the earlier you act. RVezy also accounts for major disruptions like natural disasters, which matters in Ohio where spring thunderstorms or rare winter ice storms can affect travel plans. Tip: book early to lock in your dates and your favorite rig, knowing the grace period gives you breathing room if your plans shift shortly after booking.

Fort St. Clair Park right in Eaton is also leash-friendly with shaded picnic areas and open fields perfect for a stretch. That means you can skip the stress of towing or driving a big rig and just show up like it is a cabin on wheels. Delivery fees typically run a few dollars per mile round-trip from the host's location, set by each host. Tip: filter for Delivery on RVezy and message hosts early to confirm availability for your dates.

Pro tip: plan around Eaton's beloved Pork Festival in late September or Fort St. Clair's Whispering Christmas in December for a uniquely local experience you won't find anywhere else in Ohio.
weather.gov/iln/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving one around Eaton?
You'll do great, first time renting an RV is easier than most people expect, especially in a low-traffic area like Eaton. Your host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup covering driving, leveling, hookups, holding tanks, and the propane system, and you can text them throughout your trip with questions. Eaton's roads are mostly flat, wide, and rural, with US 127 and SR 35 offering relaxed driving conditions, ideal for building confidence before tackling I-70. If you're nervous, choose a smaller Class C motorhome or campervan rental Eaton, OH style, or book delivery so you don't have to drive at all. Tip: save the RVezy roadside number and your host's contact in your phone before pulling out of the driveway.

Yes, multi-state travel is normal and often encouraged. Eaton sits less than 10 miles from the Indiana border, so quick hops to Whitewater Memorial State Park or Brookville Lake are easy, and Kentucky is about an hour south. Most RVezy hosts welcome trips throughout the continental US, while travel into Canada requires host approval since insurance and protection coverage terms differ. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because coverage does not extend there. Tip: message the host before booking with your full route so they can confirm everything is good to go, and always carry your rental agreement when crossing state lines.

Fuel is usually the biggest variable cost on an RV road trip from Eaton, but Ohio gas prices tend to run below the national average, which helps. Class B campervans get roughly 18 to 22 MPG, Class C motorhomes 8 to 12 MPG, and Class A coaches 6 to 10 MPG, while travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (typically 10 to 15 MPG when towing). At current Ohio prices around $3.00 to $3.50 per gallon, a 300-mile round trip from Eaton to Hocking Hills in a Class C runs roughly $80 to $110 in fuel. Pro tip: GasBuddy and the Pilot Flying J app help you find the cheapest stations along I-70, and filling up in Indiana (10 minutes west) is often a few cents cheaper.

Interstate 70 runs just north of town for easy east-west travel, and US 127 gives you a smooth north-south route. Watch for low-clearance covered bridges (like the historic 1829 Roberts Covered Bridge on South Beech Street) which are scenic photo stops but not drive-throughs for tall rigs, and follow your GPS truck-routing mode. Winter can bring snow and occasional black ice from December through February. Pro tip: avoid driving an RV through downtown Eaton's tight courthouse square during festival weekends and use SR 35 or US 127 instead.

Many also include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor awning, and onboard generator for boondocking. Wi-Fi is occasionally included but more often you'll tether to your phone. Pro tip: check each listing's amenities list carefully and message the host to confirm linens, kitchen basics, and outdoor chairs are included, since these vary host-to-host and can save you a Walmart run on the way to Hueston Woods.

Pickup is typically late morning and drop-off late morning the next day, with mileage policies usually 100 to 150 free miles per night (or unlimited on some listings). Pro tip: bundle add-ons during booking rather than asking last minute, hosts often discount packages, and request a generator if you're staying at any non-electric site or doing a family RV trip Eaton, OH style with kids who want screen time.
consumer.ftc.gov/articles/renting-vehicleHow does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is handled entirely through the RVezy platform, so you never hand cash to a host. You pay your rental total (nightly rate, protection plan, fees, and any add-ons) by credit card at booking. A refundable security deposit is held separately on your card before your trip starts, with the amount set by the host and shown on the listing. As long as the rig comes back in the same condition and within the mileage and generator-hour limits, the security deposit is released after drop-off. Tip: do a thorough walkaround at pickup with your host and take date-stamped photos and a short video of the interior and exterior so you have zero issues getting your full security deposit back.
