Campgrounds and RV parks near Edgewood, OH

Lake Erie access drives most itineraries. Geneva State Park offers a sandy beach with a designated swimming area, plus Geneva Marina with easy access to the central basin of Lake Erie, 379 slips and transient docking, a six-lane boat ramp, and fish cleaning service. The lake is well known for walleye, along with yellow perch, smallmouth bass, and steelhead trout. On land, paved trails within Geneva State Park connect the campground to the beachfront, and the longer Western Reserve Greenway rail-trail runs past Hide-A-Way Lakes. Ashtabula County is also known for its covered bridges and wineries, with the Grand River Valley wine region just inland. Lake Erie Canopy Tours operates a zipline and challenge course adjacent to the Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake, open seasonally from May through October (weather permitting).

The prime camping window is late spring through early fall, with July and August the busiest months for lakefront sites and private resorts around Geneva-on-the-Lake. Most private parks in Ashtabula County operate on a May-through-October schedule, with Hide-A-Way Lakes Campground and similar family parks opening in spring and closing by mid-fall. Geneva State Park's campground stays reservable in shoulder months, but services drop off. Off-peak season runs from November 1 to March 31; the dump station is available, but water is not available. The park itself remains open for day use, and when weather conditions allow, there is a 4.5-mile snowmobiling trail for visitors to enjoy, along with cross-country skiing and ice fishing. Expect lake-effect weather off Lake Erie. Summer brings warm days and cool lake breezes, while late fall and winter produce heavy snow bands along the shoreline that can close private parks and limit RV access.

Geneva State Park's campground is modernized for RVs. It has 93 single-family campsites (74 electric and 19 full hookup) located on the shores of Lake Erie, plus 12 deluxe cabins and 7 overflow campsites, with 20 premium full-hookup sites offering direct views of Lake Erie. Amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, hot showers, laundry facilities, a playground, WiFi and a dump station, along with a boat ramp and marina at the park. Private parks lean family-oriented, with pools, ponds, and organized activities. Sun Retreats Geneva on the Lake offers pools, a fishing pond, mini-golf, and a camp store, and Willow Lake Campground includes big-rig-friendly sites near the resort strip. Cell coverage and WiFi vary; expect weaker signal at the more wooded inland parks.
