Campgrounds and RV parks near Englewood, OH

Englewood MetroPark is the main outdoor draw. The park has more than 20 miles of hiking trails, three waterfalls (Martindale, Patty, and Oaks), a swamp forest boardwalk designated a State Natural Landmark, and the 18-hole Blue Heron Disc Golf Course. The Stillwater River supports fishing and paddling, and a nature play area makes it workable for families with younger kids. Off-park activities are close. Aullwood Audubon Center and Farm sits next to the MetroPark and runs a nature sanctuary with farm programs. The National Museum of the United States Air Force in Riverside is a full-day stop for most families, and the Miami Valley regional trail network offers hundreds of miles of paved cycling routes linking Dayton-area parks.

Englewood has a humid continental climate with four distinct seasons. Late spring through early fall is the practical RV window. Full-service private parks like Dayton KOA Holiday operate through the warm months with amenities such as the pool running seasonally, while shoulder-season stays in April, May, October, and early November trade some warmth for lighter crowds and fall color. Summer weekends around Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, and Labor Day draw the heaviest demand across the Dayton area. The Dayton Air Show typically runs in late June or July and can tighten availability at nearby RV parks. Fall foliage generally peaks in mid to late October along the Stillwater River corridor. Winter camping is limited. Many Ohio state park campgrounds shift to an off-peak season roughly November through March with reduced sites and amenities, and MetroPark frontcountry sites become weather-dependent. RVers relying on water hookups should confirm shutoff dates directly with the campground before booking a cold-weather trip.

Roads into the Englewood area are highway-grade. Dayton KOA Holiday is a short drive from I-70 Exit 24, and most private parks in the region sit close to interstate access, which suits larger rigs and towables. Cell service is generally reliable across Montgomery County. MetroPark campsites are primitive: pit toilets, fire rings, and picnic tables, with no electric, water, or sewer hookups. Sites are a short walk from vehicle parking, and one site is ADA accessible. These work for tent campers or self-contained vans, not for RVs needing hookups. Wildlife in the Englewood area includes white-tailed deer, wild turkey, and a range of migratory birds through the Stillwater corridor. Ticks and mosquitoes are active spring through early fall, and the park's swamp forest sections can hold standing water after heavy rain.
