Campgrounds and RV parks near Fayette, OH

Harrison Lake State Park is the anchor for outdoor recreation, with a swimming beach, fishing for bluegill, largemouth bass, northern pike, crappie and catfish, a trail circling the lake, disc golf, and volleyball, basketball and horseshoe pits. All boats are permitted on the 105-acre lake, but motors must run at no-wake speed. A dog swim area is located near the campground. Sauder Village Campground sits next to a large living history village in Archbold, with historic buildings, craft demonstrations, a barn restaurant and bakery. Lake Hudson Recreation Area draws stargazers to Michigan's first state park dark sky preserve and anglers chasing muskie on the no-wake reservoir. Family resorts such as Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Green Valley and Sunny's Campgrounds add pools, playgrounds and organized weekend activities.

The main RV season in northwest Ohio runs from April through October. Sauder Village Campground operates on a regular season of early April to early November, and the Lake Hudson Recreation Area campground follows a similar warm-season pattern. Private resorts around Fayette follow comparable schedules, with fullest amenities and staffed pools running from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Summer brings warm, humid weather and peak demand, especially on holiday weekends when many parks require a three-night minimum. Late spring and early fall are quieter, with milder temperatures and easier reservations, though nights can be cold in April and late October. Harrison Lake State Park stays open year-round for camping, but from November 1 to April 1 only a limited block of electric sites (61 through 83) remains open, with latrines and water instead of full bathhouse service. Winter travelers should expect snow, freezing temperatures and reduced amenities across the region.

Harrison Lake State Park offers 165 campsites, including 91 full hook-up sites, 58 electric sites, 13 non-electric sites, a group camp, one cabin and two yurts, with showers, flush toilets and a dump station. Interior loops can be tight for larger rigs, and the South Campground has vault toilets, so campers there walk or drive to the North Campground bathhouse. Pets are permitted on all sites. Sauder Village Campground has 87 sites, with 77 designed for RVs across full hook-up back-ins, electric/water back-ins and electric-only pull-throughs, plus an indoor pool, hot tub, splash pad and laundry. Lake Hudson is more rustic: semi-modern sites with electric hookups, vault toilets and hand-pump water, and no showers on site.
