Campgrounds near Findlay, Ohio
Findlay sits in Hancock County in northwest Ohio, along the Interstate 75 corridor between Toledo and Dayton. The area is flat, agricultural, and easy to reach for RV travelers, with most campgrounds clustered a short drive north near the village of Van Buren.
The closest public option is Van Buren State Park, a 296-acre park connected to the City of Findlay's municipal water supply, set in a remnant of beech-maple woodland surrounded by agricultural fields. A recent transformation converted all 61 campsites to include full RV hookups with electric, water, and sewer service. Private resort camping is available next door at Adventure Bound Pleasant View, also listed as Adventure Bound Camping Resorts - Pleasant View.
Smaller privately owned parks fill out the region, including Arrowhead Lake Campground near Arlington and Twin Lakes Campground near Bluffton, both south of Findlay off US-68 and I-75.
Things to do near Findlay
Van Buren State Park anchors most trip plans. Four bridle trails totaling approximately 12 miles wind through the forested landscape, while multi-use trails accommodate hiking and biking, and Van Buren Lake provides fishing and kayaking opportunities. The park is also popular for disc golf. Note that as part of the Rocky Ford Creek Restoration project, the lake at Van Buren State Park is not navigable and visitors are asked not to enter the lake bed or construction areas, so check the park's status page before planning water activities.
Families with kids often base at Adventure Bound Pleasant View for the on-site attractions. The resort stands out for its family-oriented facilities, including a swimming pool, fishing pond with inflatable slides, dog park, and miniature golf.
In town, downtown Findlay offers restaurants, shops, and the Hancock County museums for a change of pace from the campground.

The prime RV window in northwest Ohio runs from late April through mid-October, when daytime highs are comfortable and private resort amenities such as pools and inflatables are open. Themed weekends at Adventure Bound Pleasant View draw heavy family bookings around Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, and Labor Day, so those holiday weekends should be booked well in advance.
Shoulder seasons are quieter and cooler. Spring can be wet, and low-lying areas along the Blanchard River watershed sometimes see flooding after heavy rain. Fall brings crisp air and color through the beech-maple woods around Van Buren, with fewer campers on weekdays.
Winter camping is limited but possible for self-contained rigs. Van Buren State Park is open year-round with reservations available through ReserveOhio.com, and a small number of full-hookup sites remain accessible in winter. Most private resorts close their pools and water features by early fall and shut down or reduce services from late October through spring.
How to book campgrounds near Findlay
Ohio state park sites use a single statewide reservation system. Reservations at Van Buren State Park are available year-round through ReserveOhio.com or by calling (866) 644-6727. Reservations must be made at least one day ahead of arrival and can be made up to six months in advance for the family camp loop, with a longer window for equestrian sites. Summer weekends and holidays fill quickly, so reserve as early as the booking window allows.
Private parks are booked directly. Adventure Bound Pleasant View takes reservations through its own site and through third-party platforms. Arrowhead Lake Campground and Twin Lakes Campground also accept direct bookings, and both carry a mix of seasonal residents and short-stay sites, so calling ahead helps confirm availability for a specific rig length. Check cancellation windows before booking, since holiday weekends often require multi-night minimums.
What to expect at Findlay campgrounds
Sites near Findlay range from basic state park loops to full-service resort setups. Van Buren State Park lacks showers and flush toilets, but the full hookup sites make it an excellent choice for self-contained RVs, and the site accommodates rigs up to 40 feet. Plan to use the rig's own bathroom or a nearby facility for showers.
Private parks offer more amenities. Adventure Bound Pleasant View provides water and electric hookups with 30 and 50-amp service, full-hookup sites, bathhouses, a dump station, and laundry. Expect a busy, family-oriented atmosphere in summer.
Cell service is generally good across the region given proximity to I-75. Terrain is flat, roads are straightforward, and most campgrounds are within 15 to 30 minutes of grocery stores and fuel in Findlay or Bluffton.
