Campgrounds and RV parks near Geneva-on-the-Lake, OH

Lake Erie is the main draw. Geneva State Park has a 600-foot sand beach with a designated swimming area, plus Geneva Marina with a six-lane boat ramp and access to the central basin, known for walleye, yellow perch, channel catfish, and steelhead. Charter fishing boats operate from the marina, and a valid Ohio fishing license is required for anglers 16 and older. On land, the park has six miles of multi-use trails, a two-mile paved path with lake views, and a free public archery range. Lake Erie Canopy Tours, an aerial adventure park with zipline and challenge courses, operates seasonally from May through October next to the Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake. Off-park, the village strip has mini-golf, arcades, and food, and the surrounding Grand River Valley wine region has more than two dozen wineries within easy driving distance.

The main camping season runs May through October, with July and August the busiest months. Summer brings warm, humid days with highs in the mid-70s Fahrenheit, reliable beach weather, and the fullest slate of park programming. The Nature Center at Geneva State Park opens weekends in early May and stays open through October, with naturalist programs running on a similar schedule. Late spring and early fall are quieter. Mid-September through mid-October delivers grape harvest at the surrounding wineries, cooler nights, and easier reservations. Weekdays and shoulder-season dates are the best bet for lakefront sites without booking far ahead. Ohio State Parks designates November 1 through March 31 as the off-peak season at Geneva. Water is shut off at the campground during that window, and lake-effect snow off Lake Erie is common. When conditions allow, the park opens a 4.5-mile snowmobile trail plus cross-country skiing and ice fishing, keeping some recreation available through the coldest months.

Geneva State Park Campground has 93 single-family sites, including 19 full-hookup sites and 74 electric-only sites, plus 12 deluxe cabins and seven overflow sites. Twenty premium full-hookup, paved pull-through sites at the front loop face directly onto Lake Erie. Amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, hot showers, laundry, a playground, Wi-Fi, a dump station, and a fish-cleaning station. A seasonal camp store carries firewood, ice, and basic supplies. Sites 38-52 are full-hookup with 50-amp service, and sites 88, 90, 92, and 93 are full-hookup with 30-amp service. Pets are permitted on all campsites but not in the cabins, with a limit of two per site. Sites are wooded with paved pads, and single-file parking on the pad is expected. Private parks in the area range from full-service RV resorts with pools and clubhouses to river-oriented campgrounds with canoe and kayak liveries on the Grand River.
