Campgrounds and RV parks near Gibsonburg, OH

Gibsonburg sits in Sandusky County in northwest Ohio, roughly a half-hour drive southeast of Toledo and within easy reach of the Lake Erie shoreline. The village works well as an RV base for travelers who want quieter, rural surroundings but still want quick access to state parks, wildlife refuges, and the western Lake Erie islands. Campground options in the area range from full-service resorts to state-park campgrounds. Maumee Bay State Park Campground is a modern, year-round camping facility located just five miles east of Toledo on Lake Erie's southwestern shore. The campground spans over 1,300 acres and offers 256 sites with 20-30-50 amp electric hookups. Twenty sites (1-11 and 21-29) feature full hookups including water and sewer connections, though water is only available at these sites during warmer months. Toledo East / Stony Ridge KOA Journey sits just off I-80/90 in Stony Ridge, making it a convenient interstate stop. Closer to Gibsonburg, Camp Sabroske, Portageview RV & MH Resort, and Paradise Acres Camp Grounds offer smaller, family-run settings with hookup sites for RV travelers.

Ohio state park campgrounds, including Maumee Bay, use the ReserveOhio system. Reservations are available starting six months prior to the desired arrival date for campsites, and can be booked online at reserveohio.com or by phone at (866) 644-6727. For popular summer weekends, log in the day the six-month window opens, since waterfront and full-hookup sites go fastest. Private parks handle bookings directly. Toledo East / Stony Ridge KOA Journey takes reservations through the KOA website or app, and Camp Sabroske, Portageview RV & MH Resort, and Paradise Acres Camp Grounds each accept phone or online bookings through their own sites. When booking an RV rental for this area, confirm the rig's length, slide-out configuration, and hookup type (20/30/50 amp) match the site before you commit, especially at smaller private parks where big-rig-friendly sites are limited.
