Campgrounds and RV parks near Holgate, OH

Holgate sits in Henry County in the flat farmland of northwest Ohio, roughly halfway between Toledo and Fort Wayne. The area drains into the Maumee River watershed and was historically part of the Great Black Swamp, a heavily wooded lowland that was drained by 1900 through a major system of dikes and ditches, leaving the dark soils that now form the region's fertile agricultural lands. Campers use Holgate as a base for river fishing, cycling on rural country roads, and day trips to Toledo attractions. Options within a short drive cover both state park camping and full-service private RV parks. Mary Jane Thurston State Park sits on 105 acres along the historic Maumee River in northwest Ohio, with a mix of day-use and overnight facilities, and its campground is the closest public option to Holgate. Private parks include Gilboa Quarry RV Park & Campground near Ottawa, Sauder Village Campground in Archbold, Bluegrass Campground, and Casual Campfire RV Campground. All five options are reachable within about an hour of Holgate and are set up for RV arrivals, with a range of hookup levels, tent sites, and cabin or bunkhouse rentals depending on the property.

Reservation systems differ by property. For the state park option, reservations at Mary Jane Thurston State Park Campground may be made up to six months in advance online through the ReserveOhio system or by calling (866) 644-6727. Sites are limited, so booking well ahead is advised for summer weekends. Private parks use their own platforms. Gilboa Quarry RV Park & Campground takes reservations through its operator website. Sauder Village Campground books directly through the Sauder Village website or by phone, and Bluegrass Campground and Casual Campfire RV Campground take reservations by phone or through their own booking pages. Confirm rig-length limits, hookup type, and cancellation windows before paying, since holiday-weekend deposits at Sauder Village are non-refundable inside 72 hours.
