Campgrounds near Kenwood, Ohio
Kenwood is an unincorporated community in Sycamore Township, roughly 12 miles northeast of downtown Cincinnati and just off Interstate 71. The area sits in Hamilton County, within easy reach of the Ohio River, the Little Miami State and National Scenic River corridor, and a dense network of Hamilton County Great Parks. RV travelers use Kenwood as a base for Cincinnati sightseeing, Kings Island, and river-country day trips.
Most RV parks are located in the outer suburbs rather than in Kenwood itself. Closer-in options include Hidden Valley RV Park and Storage and Cincinnati Campsites, while destinations like Camp Cedar RV Resort sit farther north near Mason and Kings Island. Tuckers Landing RV Park and Riverfront RV Park serve travelers who want proximity to the Ohio River.
Expect a mix of private full-hookup parks, county park campgrounds run by Great Parks of Hamilton County, and Ohio State Park campgrounds within a one- to two-hour drive. Sites range from paved pull-throughs to shaded back-ins on grass or gravel.
Things to do near Kenwood
Cincinnati anchors the area with the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, the Cincinnati Museum Center at Union Terminal, the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center, and the Newport Aquarium just across the river in Kentucky. Families staying at Camp Cedar RV Resort are within walking distance of Kings Island, one of the largest amusement and water parks in the Midwest.
Outdoor options include hiking and mountain biking at East Fork State Park, paddling the Little Miami River, and cycling the Loveland Bike Trail. Riverfront RV Park and Tuckers Landing RV Park put boaters close to Ohio River launches. Baseball fans can catch a Cincinnati Reds game at Great American Ball Park, and FC Cincinnati draws crowds in season.

Peak camping season runs from late May through early October. Summer brings warm, humid days with afternoon thunderstorms and the busiest weekends at Kings Island and along the Ohio River. Book holiday weekends and Kings Island trips well in advance, since Camp Cedar RV Resort and other Mason-area parks fill quickly.
Spring and fall are the best value windows. Wildflowers appear in April and May, and October delivers strong fall color across southern Ohio's hardwood forests. Shoulder-season nights can be cool, so plan for furnace use. May is typically the wettest month in the Cincinnati area, and severe weather season peaks between April and June, so monitor forecasts.
Winter camping is possible but limited. Some private RV parks near Cincinnati stay open year-round with reduced services, while several state and county campgrounds close or drop to limited utilities from late fall through early March. Freezing nights and occasional ice storms are typical.

Highly recommend 15/10 rating here. Clean and ready to go upon the agreed time and extremely flexible for my rental return considering I hit a traffic jam for 4 hours. Will be renting again from him alone when my personal goes down.

How to book campgrounds near Kenwood
Private parks such as Hidden Valley RV Park and Storage, Cincinnati Campsites, Tuckers Landing RV Park, Camp Cedar RV Resort, and Riverfront RV Park take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Popular summer weekends and any date tied to a Kings Island event should be booked several months out.
Ohio State Park campgrounds are booked through the ReserveOhio system at reserveohio.com. The reservation window opens six months prior to the arrival date for campsites and unique getaways, and twelve months prior for cabins and day-use facilities. New inventory releases at 7 a.m. Eastern each morning. Great Parks of Hamilton County campgrounds, including Winton Woods and Miami Whitewater Forest, use their own reservation portal at greatparks.org.
Stays at Ohio state park campgrounds are capped at 14 nights in any 30-day period. Have a backup park in mind for holiday weekends.
What to expect on the ground
Most RV parks in the Cincinnati area offer 30- and 50-amp electric, water, and sewer, with bathhouses, laundry, and Wi-Fi at the larger resorts. Camp Cedar RV Resort is the closest thing to a full-service destination resort, with a pool, cabins, and direct proximity to Kings Island. Smaller parks near the river lean quieter and more rustic.
Terrain in the region is rolling, and site leveling can be a real consideration at older county and state parks. Bring blocks or a hydraulic system, and confirm site length and hookup side when booking. Cell coverage is strong across the metro area but can drop in river valleys.
Mosquitoes and ticks are active from late spring through early fall. Deer are common near wooded campgrounds, so drive slowly at dawn and dusk.

Frequently asked questions about campgrounds near Kenwood, OH
How much does it cost to rent an RV in Kenwood?
An RV rental in Kenwood is often cheaper than a hotel plus restaurants for the same trip. Motorhomes in the Kenwood area average around $200 to $275 per night, while travel trailers and other towables typically run $100 to $175 per night, and many hosts on RVezy offer weekly or monthly discounts. To find a cheap RV rental in Kenwood, filter by your dates and use the price slider, then consider older Class C motorhomes or smaller travel trailers for the best value. Pro tip: booking mid-week or in shoulder season (April-May or September-October) often shaves 15-25% off summer Cincinnati-area pricing.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Kenwood%2C%20OhioDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Kenwood, Ohio?
Good news for first-time renters: Ohio does not require a special license or CDL to drive a personal-use RV, so your regular driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Kenwood. You must be 25 or older to book on RVezy, and ID is confirmed quickly through the platform during checkout. Visiting from another country? Bring your home license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your local auto club. With most Class B campervans and Class C motorhomes well under Ohio's 26,001 lb threshold, you're cleared to hit I-71 toward Hocking Hills or I-75 down to the Smokies without any extra paperwork.
bmv.ohio.gov/dl-cdl-exemptions.aspxWhat protection and roadside assistance comes with my Kenwood RV rental?
You are covered from the moment you book. Every RV rental in Kenwood on RVezy includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance, so a flat tire on I-275 or a dead battery at East Fork State Park is just a phone call away. The protection plan is not standalone insurance, but it covers most physical damage to the vehicle for real financial peace of mind. During checkout you choose your coverage level (not the host) based on how much protection you want. That means you can focus on the fun part, like planning stops at Jungle Jim's, Eden Park, or a Bengals game at Paycor Stadium.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat is the cancellation policy if my Kenwood RV trip plans change?
You can book with confidence. RVezy (not the individual host) sets the cancellation policy, and every booking includes a grace-period window after booking where you can cancel for a full refund. After that, refund amounts depend on how far you are from your trip start date. You will see the exact terms during checkout and in your trip details before you confirm. If a host cancels on you, RVezy issues a full refund or travel credit so your Kenwood RV trip plans stay on track. Pro tip: if you are booking months ahead for a Reds game or Riverfest weekend, lock in your dates early and review the policy during checkout.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on a pet-friendly RV rental in Kenwood?
Absolutely, your dog is welcome on the adventure. Plenty of hosts offer a pet-friendly RV rental in Kenwood, OH; just toggle the Pet-Friendly filter on RVezy and you'll see motorhomes and travel trailers ready for four-legged guests. Once you arrive, the Cincinnati area is one of the most dog-friendly metros in the Midwest. Take them to the off-leash Otto Armleder Memorial Park about 15 minutes south, or hike the leashed-pet-friendly trails at East Fork State Park (leashed pets are allowed everywhere except the swimming beach). Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm pet fees and let them know your pup's size so check-in is smooth.
ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/parks-preserves/find-a-park/east-fork-state-parkCan the RV be delivered to my campground or home in Kenwood?
Yes, and it is the easiest way to start a trip. Many RVezy hosts offer RV delivery Kenwood guests love, meaning the host drives the motorhome or trailer straight to your campsite at East Fork State Park, Winton Woods, or even to your driveway, then sets up the hookups and walks you through everything. This is a game-changer if it is your first time renting an RV and you would rather skip towing or driving a big rig through Kenwood Towne Centre traffic. Filter by Delivery on the search page, check the host's delivery radius, and confirm the fee (usually based on mileage). Cincinnati travelers consistently rate delivery as one of the best add-ons.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037994754-What-is-RV-deliveryHow do mileage policies work, and how far can I drive from Kenwood?
You have plenty of room to roam. Most Kenwood hosts include 100-150 free miles per night, with extra miles available for a small per-mile fee, and some listings even offer RV rental with unlimited mileage (look for that filter). From Kenwood you can reach Hocking Hills State Park in about 2 hours 15 minutes (130 miles), Mammoth Cave in Kentucky in roughly 3 hours 30 minutes (200 miles), the Great Smoky Mountains in about 5 hours 30 minutes (310 miles), and Indiana Dunes in about 5 hours (280 miles). Pro tip: estimate your route in Google Maps before booking so you can pick a mileage package that fits, and avoid surprise overage fees at drop-off.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106474-How-mileage-fees-workWhere are the best campgrounds near Kenwood for an RV trip?
You're spoiled for choice within an hour of Kenwood. Top picks for RV camping Kenwood travelers love include East Fork State Park in Batavia (about 25 miles east, 400+ sites with electric and full hookups on Harsha Lake), Winton Woods Campground in Cincinnati's Great Parks (closest full-hookup option, about 20 minutes away), Kings Island Camp Cedar in Mason (resort-style, walking distance to the amusement park), AJ Jolly Park & Campground in Alexandria, KY (lakeside, 25 miles south), and Indian Springs Campground in Mason. Reserve Ohio State Park sites up to six months ahead at reserveohio.com. Pro tip: East Fork's Loop B fills first because of its lake views; book it the day your dates open.
ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/campgroundsWhen is the best time of year for an RV trip from Kenwood, OH?
The sweet spot is mid-April through late October, with two standout windows. May and September are the smartest months, with daytime highs in the 70s, lower humidity, and thinner campground crowds than the July-August peak (when Cincinnati hits the upper 80s with thick humidity). Mid-October to early November delivers spectacular fall foliage at Hocking Hills and along the Little Miami Scenic Trail. Winter RV camping is doable but cold, with January averaging highs around 39°F and lows in the low 20s, so you'll want a four-season RV with heated tanks. Pro tip: book Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends 4-6 months out; they sell out fast at every campground within an hour of Cincinnati.
weather.gov/iln/I've never rented an RV before. Is a Kenwood RV trip beginner-friendly?
Yes, and first time renting an RV in Kenwood is easier than you'd think. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup covering the generator, slide-outs, water hookups, propane, and dump procedures, so you're never left guessing. If you're nervous about size, start with a Class B campervan or a 22-25 ft Class C motorhome, both easy to drive on I-71 and I-275. Choose a host who offers delivery to skip the city driving entirely. You can also message hosts before booking with any question. Pro tip: pick a closer first trip, like East Fork State Park 25 miles away, to build confidence before tackling a longer route.
ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/parks-preserves/find-a-park/east-fork-state-parkWhat happens if something goes wrong on the road?
You are never alone out there. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, covering tows, jump-starts, flat tires, lockouts, and fuel delivery throughout the U.S. and Canada. RVezy customer support is also available before, during, and after your trip through the Help Center. If something mechanical comes up, message your host directly through the app: they know their RV best and can often troubleshoot in minutes. Pro tip: save the roadside number to your phone before you leave Kenwood, and snap a quick photo of the RV's VIN and license plate so you have it ready if you ever need to call in.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008614-What-is-included-with-roadside-assistanceCan I take my Kenwood RV rental across state lines or into Canada?
Cross-state travel is totally fine and one of the best perks of an RV road trip from Kenwood. You are 10 minutes from the Kentucky border and about 40 minutes from Indiana, so multi-state itineraries through Mammoth Cave, the Bourbon Trail, or Brown County State Park are popular and fully covered by the renter protection plan. Travel into Canada may be allowed with host approval and proper documentation; message the host before booking to confirm. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy rentals because insurance coverage does not extend there. Pro tip: a classic 5-day loop from Kenwood goes Cincinnati to Red River Gorge to Mammoth Cave to Louisville and back, about 600 total miles.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel mileage and budget should I plan for?
Budgeting is simpler than you'd guess. Class B campervan rentals around Kenwood average 18-22 MPG, Class C motorhomes get 8-12 MPG, and Class A motorhomes run 6-10 MPG, while travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle. Ohio gas prices typically run a bit below the national average (often $3.00-$3.40 per gallon in the Cincinnati metro), and most rentals here run on regular unleaded. For a 4-day, 400-mile motorhome rental Kenwood trip, budget roughly $150-$200 in fuel. Pro tip: fill up at Costco off Fields Ertel Road or Sam's Club in Florence, KY before heading out; they're consistently 15-25 cents cheaper than highway exits along I-71.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Kenwood?
Book early and you'll always get the good spots. Ohio State Parks, including East Fork and Caesar Creek, open reservations exactly six months ahead at reserveohio.com, and the most popular lakeside sites can sell out in minutes for summer weekends. Great Parks of Hamilton County campgrounds like Winton Woods open 12 months ahead through their own portal. Private parks (Kings Island Camp Cedar, BEYONDER Getaway Rising Sun) typically allow booking a year out. Pro tip: if your dream site is taken, set up a free email notification at reserveohio.com; cancellations happen daily and you'll be the first to know when a site near Harsha Lake opens up.
reserveohio.com/OhioCampWeb/What are the driving conditions like around Kenwood and Cincinnati?
Driving an RV around Kenwood is very manageable once you know a few local quirks. I-71, I-75, and I-275 are the main arteries and all handle big rigs easily, but downtown Cincinnati has low clearances on some Over-the-Rhine streets and the Lytle Tunnel on I-71 South (13'11" clearance, fine for most RVs under 13'6"). Skip the narrow streets of Mt. Adams and Hyde Park Square with a larger Class A. Winter weather brings occasional ice and snow December-February, so check forecasts before heading north on I-75. Pro tip: avoid the Brent Spence Bridge into Kentucky during rush hour (7-9 AM and 4-6 PM); take I-275 around instead for a much smoother RV trip.
transportation.ohio.gov/programs/ohgoWhat amenities should I expect at campgrounds near Kenwood?
You will find solid, well-equipped campgrounds throughout the Cincinnati region. East Fork State Park offers more than 400 sites with electric service, water, and full-hookup options, plus a dump station, showerhouses, and a camp store. Winton Woods has paved pads with full hookups and Wi-Fi. Kings Island Camp Cedar features resort-level amenities including pools, a lazy river, and shuttle service to the park. Most Ohio State Parks have potable water fills and free dump stations for registered campers. Pro tip: if you need a mid-trip dump and water refill between campgrounds, many Flying J and Pilot truck stops along I-75 south of Kenwood have public dump stations and fresh water fills for a small fee.
ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/find-a-property/east-fork-state-parkWhat features and amenities come standard in a Kenwood RV rental?
Modern rentals come loaded for comfort. A typical motorhome rental Kenwood listing on RVezy includes a queen or king bed, a full kitchen (fridge, stove, microwave, sink), a bathroom with shower, dinette and sofa that convert to extra beds, air conditioning, furnace, and a generator or shore power. Most rigs sleep 4-6 people with proper seatbelts for travel, and many include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, and outdoor awning. Wi-Fi hotspots and starlight packages are common add-ons. Travel trailers and fifth wheels usually offer larger living spaces but require a capable tow vehicle. Pro tip: filter by sleeps count and check the listing's photo gallery carefully; Cincinnati hosts tend to over-deliver on outdoor gear like camp chairs and grills.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Kenwood%2C%20OhioWhat add-ons and pickup options are available for a Kenwood RV rental?
Hosts in the Kenwood area make it easy to customize your trip. Popular add-ons include kitchen kits, bedding and linen packages, portable grills, generators, bike racks, kayaks, and outdoor chairs. Many hosts offer delivery to East Fork State Park, Winton Woods, or Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) for travelers flying in. Pickup is typically self-serve at the host's home with a full walkthrough included. Some hosts offer late pickup or early drop-off for a small fee. Pro tip: message the host before booking to confirm exact add-on pricing and to ask for local recommendations; many Cincinnati hosts are happy to share tips on Skyline chili stops and Graeter's ice cream along your route.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Kenwood%2C%20OhioHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure. You pay the rental cost upfront through RVezy when you book (credit card or debit), and a refundable security deposit is held separately on your card before pickup, typically a few hundred to a few thousand dollars depending on the RV's value. The deposit is released after drop-off once the host confirms the RV is returned clean, with the agreed fuel level, and undamaged beyond normal wear. No cash is exchanged with the host. Pro tip: take a quick walk-around video at both pickup and drop-off (every panel, the interior, the odometer, and fuel gauge). It is the single best way to ensure your full deposit comes back fast.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksWhat are the most popular road trip routes from Kenwood?
Kenwood's location is perfect for a Midwest RV road trip from Kenwood. Top routes include Hocking Hills State Park (130 miles, 2.25 hours east) for cliffs, caves, and Old Man's Cave; Red River Gorge in Kentucky (165 miles, 2.5 hours south) for natural arches and world-class hiking; Mammoth Cave National Park (210 miles, 3.5 hours) for the longest cave system on Earth; the Great Smoky Mountains via I-75 (290 miles, 5 hours) for true mountain camping; and a family RV trip Kenwood loop through Lake Erie's Cedar Point and the Marblehead Peninsula (235 miles north). Pro tip: leave Kenwood by 7 AM on Friday to beat I-71/I-75 commuter traffic and reach Hocking Hills before the campground office closes at 5 PM.
