Campgrounds and RV parks near Kidron, OH

Lehman's, the well-known non-electric hardware store, anchors the village and is a common first stop. The Kidron Auction runs weekly and gives visitors a look at a working livestock and produce market. Sonnenberg Village and the Kidron Community Historical Society cover local Swiss-Mennonite heritage. Within a short drive, travelers reach Berlin, Walnut Creek, Sugarcreek, and Millersburg for cheese houses, furniture makers, buggy rides, and family restaurants. The Holmes County Trail, a paved rail-trail shared with buggies, is a popular cycling route. For water and outdoor recreation, Baylor Beach Park offers a swimming lake with slides and fountains, a separate lake for paddle boats, miniature golf, sand volleyball, and playgrounds. Mohican State Park and Pleasant Hill Lake Park lie roughly an hour southwest for hiking, paddling, and larger public campgrounds.

The area follows a four-season humid-continental pattern. Summers are warm and humid, winters are snowy and cold, and precipitation is moderate year-round. Most private campgrounds in Wayne and Holmes counties operate on a seasonal schedule, typically opening in April or May and closing in mid to late October. Travelers should confirm exact opening and closing dates directly with each operator. Late spring through early fall is the practical RV season. Summer weekends and the September-through-mid-October foliage stretch are the busiest windows, driven by Amish Country tourism, harvest festivals, and events in Sugarcreek and Berlin. Weeknights are noticeably quieter than Fridays and Saturdays. Winter travel is possible but limited. Snow, ice, and hilly county roads make towing difficult, and most private campgrounds close or reduce services from November through March. Travelers arriving in shoulder season should confirm which loops, bathhouses, and pools are still open before booking.

Expect a rural, agricultural setting. Roads around Kidron are two-lane, hilly, and shared with horse-drawn buggies, so allow extra time and pass with care. Cell coverage is generally adequate but can drop in valleys. Campground sites in the area range from gravel pull-throughs designed for large motorhomes to shaded back-in sites better suited to smaller trailers. Many parks include swimming pools, playgrounds, laundry, and camp stores; a few, such as Baylor Beach Park, add a lake and water features. Sundays are quiet by local custom, and some Amish-owned shops and restaurants are closed. Bring cash for roadside stands, bakeries, and small shops that do not accept cards. Weather can shift quickly in spring and fall, so pack layers, rain gear, and leveling blocks for uneven pads.
