Campgrounds and RV parks near Lakemore, OH

Lakemore is a small village in Summit County, tucked between Akron and the Portage Lakes chain in northeast Ohio. The area works well as a base for RV renters because it sits within an easy drive of Cuyahoga Valley National Park, the Portage Lakes State Park recreation area, and a cluster of private campgrounds that accept larger rigs. Most travelers stay at private RV parks in the surrounding townships rather than in the village itself. Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resort: Akron-Canton and Cuttys Sunset Camping Resort are family-oriented resorts with pools and organized activities, while Countryside Campground, Cherokee Park Campground, and Friendship Acres Park lean toward quieter, wooded settings with standard hookups. Akron-Canton Airport, I-77, and I-76 are all close by, which makes pickup and return of a rental RV straightforward. The terrain is gently rolling, roads are paved, and none of the nearby campgrounds require mountain driving to reach.

Private campgrounds in the area, including Countryside Campground, Cherokee Park Campground, Friendship Acres Park, Cuttys Sunset Camping Resort, and Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resort: Akron-Canton, take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone. Summer weekends and holidays should be locked in several months ahead, especially for pull-through and full-hookup sites that fit larger Class A and Class C rentals. Ohio State Park campgrounds, including Portage Lakes State Park south of the village, are booked through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources reservation system at reserveohio.com. Sites can be reserved up to six months in advance to the day, and popular sites for peak weekends are typically claimed shortly after the window opens at 7 a.m. Eastern. For Cuyahoga Valley National Park stays, note that the park itself does not offer developed RV campgrounds, so an RV base near Lakemore is the practical option.
