RV camping near Leesburg, Ohio
Leesburg sits in Highland County in southwestern Ohio, within an easy drive of two large reservoirs and their associated state parks. The village works as a base for camping trips into the rolling farmland and wooded hills of the Paint Creek watershed. Interstate 71 and U.S. 62 provide straightforward access from Columbus, Cincinnati, and Dayton.
Campground options range from full-hookup state park loops to smaller privately run parks. Rocky Fork State Park, on the northwest corner of a 2,080-acre lake in Highland County, offers electric, non-electric, and full hook-up sites. Paint Creek State Park, straddling the Highland and Ross county line, has multiple camping areas around its reservoir. Shady Trails Family Campground provides a smaller family-oriented alternative, while Bayview Campgrounds and Bayview Campground Cottages sit near the water.
Most sites in the area accommodate standard travel trailers and Class C motorhomes. Larger Class A rigs should confirm site length and turning radius before booking, particularly at the smaller private parks.
Things to do near Leesburg
Boating, fishing, and swimming dominate warm-weather activity in the region. Rocky Fork Lake allows unlimited-horsepower boating and has a marina, docks, and multiple boat ramps, and Paint Creek Lake similarly supports powerboats and paddlers. Anglers target bass, bluegill, crappie, saugeye, white bass, and channel catfish. Kayaks and canoes launch easily from quieter coves.
On land, the state parks maintain hiking trails through hardwood forest, along with bridle paths at Paint Creek. Rocky Fork features a 9-hole disc golf course at the South Beach, with rental equipment available at the camp store and no fee to play.
Off-park attractions include the Serpent Mound historic site to the south, small-town antique shopping in Hillsboro and Greenfield, and seasonal farm stands throughout Highland County. Rainy-day options are limited, so plan indoor time around nearby town centers.

Summer is the busiest stretch for camping around Leesburg, with warm weather driving demand for lake sites at Rocky Fork State Park and Areas 1-2-3 - Paint Creek State Park. Weekends around Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day book out earliest, and reserving several months ahead is advised for holiday weekends.
Spring brings variable weather and higher water levels on the reservoirs, with wildflowers appearing in the wooded sections by April. Fall is generally the quietest and most comfortable stretch for RV travel, with cool nights, lower humidity, and hardwood color peaking in mid to late October.
The Rocky Fork campground is open year-round, though during the winter camping season facilities may be limited, and full-service sites do not have water at the site with fees reduced accordingly. Most private campgrounds close entirely for winter. Confirm winter status directly with the park office before arrival.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Leesburg%2C%20OhioDo I need a special license to rent an RV in Leesburg, Ohio?
You're all set with a regular driver's license. Ohio does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special endorsement for personal-use RVs, even larger Class A motorhomes, so your standard license is enough to rent an RV in Leesburg. You'll need to be at least 25 years old to book on RVezy, and we'll confirm your ID quickly through the platform during checkout. Visiting from outside the U.S.? Pair your home-country license with an International Driving Permit (IDP) from your local auto club before you fly in. Most first-timers are surprised how straightforward the whole process feels.
bmv.ohio.gov/driver-license-id-permits.aspxWhat protection is included with my Leesburg RV rental?

If a host needs to cancel, RVezy provides a refund or travel credit so your plans stay protected. Pro tip: book early to lock in summer Rocky Fork Lake weekends, knowing you have a clear cancellation policy if life happens before your departure.

Filter by Delivery on the search page to see hosts who offer this service, then message to confirm your address (Rocky Fork Lake, Paint Creek State Park, or a private driveway all work). Delivery fees usually scale with distance. Pro tip: delivery is perfect if you're flying into Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) and don't want to tow on day one.

July and August bring warm, humid 80-90°F afternoons that are perfect for Rocky Fork Lake swimming but pack a strong AC. Winters dip into the 20-40°F range with occasional snow, so plan accordingly. Pro tip: the second weekend of October typically delivers peak foliage along the Paint Creek gorge, and it's a magical time for a Leesburg RV trip.
weather.gov/iln/I've never rented an RV before. Will I be okay driving around Leesburg?
You'll do great, and you won't be left to figure it out alone. Every RVezy host provides a hands-on orientation at pickup, walking you through driving, leveling, slide-outs, water systems, and the propane setup before you head out. The roads around Leesburg are first-time-friendly: US-62, State Route 28, and US-50 are wide, gently rolling two-lanes with light traffic, perfect for getting comfortable behind the wheel. Take the first 15 minutes slow, use your mirrors generously, and you'll feel like a pro by the time you reach Rocky Fork Lake. Pro tip: if you're nervous, message a host before booking and ask for delivery and setup, that way your first time renting an RV starts at your campsite.
transportation.ohio.gov/programs/traffic-safetyWhat happens if I have a breakdown or roadside issue near Leesburg?
You're covered around the clock. Every RVezy booking includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the renter protection plan, so a flat tire on US-50, a dead battery at a Paint Creek campsite, or a lockout at a gas station in Hillsboro is a single phone call away from help. Your host is also just a message away for quick how-to questions (think: pilot light won't ignite or the slide-out is stuck). Pro tip: save the roadside assistance number in your phone before you leave home and snap a photo of the RV's license plate and VIN, that way help can find you fast anywhere in Highland County.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat are the best RV road trips from Leesburg?
Leesburg's central location makes it a fantastic launchpad for an RV road trip in any direction. Hocking Hills State Park is about 95 miles northeast (under 2 hours) for waterfalls and Old Man's Cave. Cincinnati and the Ohio River are 60 miles southwest for a city-and-river weekend. Amish Country around Berlin sits about 130 miles north for handmade crafts and family-style dinners. Red River Gorge in Kentucky is roughly 150 miles south for sandstone arches and stargazing. Cross-border trips into Kentucky, Indiana, and West Virginia are generally allowed, but confirm with your host first. Travel into Mexico is not permitted on RVezy bookings. Pro tip: build in a stop at Serpent Mound (about 25 miles south) for ancient earthworks.
nps.gov/hocu/index.htmWhat kind of fuel mileage and gas costs should I budget for?
Budgeting is easy once you know the ballpark. Travel trailers don't burn fuel themselves but will drop your tow vehicle to 10-13 MPG, Class B campervans average 18-22 MPG, Class C motorhomes get 8-12 MPG, and Class A motorhomes average 6-10 MPG. Ohio gas prices typically run around $3.00-$3.50 per gallon, and you'll find easy fill-ups at the Marathon and Speedway stations along US-62 in Leesburg and Hillsboro. Most rentals run on regular unleaded; diesel rigs cost more per gallon but go farther. Pro tip: top off in Hillsboro before heading into Hocking Hills, as rural stations get sparse and pricier in the hills.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Leesburg?
Book sooner rather than later, especially for summer. Ohio State Parks like Rocky Fork and Paint Creek open reservations 6 months in advance through reserveohio.com, and the lakeside electric sites disappear fast for Memorial Day, the 4th of July, and Labor Day weekends. For private parks near Leesburg or Rocky Fork Lake, 4 to 6 weeks of lead time usually does the trick. Fall foliage weekends in October are surprisingly competitive too. Pro tip: if your dream weekend is fully booked, check reserveohio.com regularly, Ohio campers cancel often and prime Rocky Fork sites reopen all the time.
reserveohio.com/What are the driving conditions like around Leesburg?
Driving around Leesburg is refreshingly low-stress. The town sits at the crossroads of US-62 and State Route 28 in gently rolling Highland County farmland, with wide shoulders, light traffic, and clear sightlines, basically ideal RV territory. Watch for occasional Amish horse-and-buggy traffic on rural roads east of town (slow down and pass wide), keep an eye out for deer at dawn and dusk, and be ready for sudden summer thunderstorms that can dump heavy rain. Winter brings occasional snow and ice from December through February. Pro tip: avoid I-71 around Cincinnati during weekday rush hours (7-9 AM and 4-6 PM), and stick to US-50 or US-62 for a calmer, prettier route.
ohgo.com/What amenities can I expect at campgrounds near Leesburg?
You'll find a great range of hookups close to home. Rocky Fork State Park offers electric sites (most 30/50-amp), potable water fill stations, a dump station, hot showers, and flush toilets. Paint Creek State Park has full-hookup sites with sewer, plus a camp store and laundry. Private parks like Cedar Hill and Bayview typically include water, electric, and on-site dump stations. If you need to dump or refill between stops, the Pilot Travel Center near Wilmington (about 20 miles north) has RV-friendly facilities. Pro tip: ask your host whether the RV's freshwater tank is filled at pickup, that way you can boondock the first night without rushing to a hookup site.

You'll feel right at home. Class C motorhomes and larger travel trailers often add a TV, awning, outdoor speakers, and onboard generator. Wi-Fi is host-dependent; many include a hotspot or you can tether your phone (Verizon and T-Mobile both work well in Highland County). Pro tip: check the listing's amenity list and message the host to confirm bedding, kitchenware, and a coffee maker are included, most southern Ohio hosts set you up turnkey.
fcc.gov/BroadbandData/MobileMaps/mobile-mapWhat add-ons and pickup options are available for a motorhome rental in Leesburg?
You can customize your motorhome rental in Leesburg to fit your trip perfectly. Common host add-ons include linen and towel packages ($25-$75), camping chairs and outdoor rugs, generator-hour packages, propane top-offs, bikes and kayaks, and pet cleaning fees. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near Leesburg, Hillsboro, or Wilmington, and many hosts offer delivery to Rocky Fork or Paint Creek state parks for a per-mile fee. Mileage policies (free miles per night and overage rates) are listed clearly on every listing. Pro tip: bundle delivery, setup, and a linen pack and you can fly into Columbus (CMH) or Cincinnati (CVG), Uber to your campsite, and start vacation the moment you arrive.
flycolumbus.com/How does the security deposit and payment work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure. You pay for your Leesburg RV rental with a credit or debit card directly through RVezy at booking, no cash, no awkward handoffs with the host. The security deposit is held (not charged) on your card before your trip and released after the host confirms the RV came back in good shape, typically within a few days of return. Deposit amounts vary by RV class and value and are shown clearly during checkout. Pro tip: take date-stamped photos and a quick walk-around video at both pickup and dropoff; it's the easiest way to keep your deposit return smooth and stress-free after your Highland County adventure.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I rent an RV in Leesburg in the winter, and how do cold-weather rigs work?
Yes, winter RVing in Ohio is a quiet, beautiful experience, and several Leesburg-area hosts keep their rigs available year-round. Look for listings that mention four-season insulation, heated holding tanks, an enclosed underbelly, and a propane furnace, which together let you camp comfortably even when overnight lows drop into the 20s. Paint Creek State Park keeps select winter sites available with electric hookups, perfect for a frosty weekend by the lake. Pro tip: book a site with 30/50-amp shore power so you can run a small electric space heater alongside the furnace, conserve propane, and disconnect and drain your freshwater hose each night to prevent freeze-ups. A campervan rental in Leesburg in January is pure cozy magic.
