Campgrounds and RV parks near Mantua, OH

Water is the main draw. West Branch State Park is built around the 2,650-acre Michael J. Kirwan Reservoir, popular for boating, swimming, and fishing for bass, walleye, crappie, perch, and channel catfish. Punderson State Park centers on a 150-acre natural kettle lake, the largest and deepest in Ohio, with a sandy beach, boat rentals, and electric-motor-only boating. On land, West Branch offers hiking trails, two disc golf courses (an 18-hole course near the beach and a 9-hole course in the campground area), and a dog park. Punderson adds an 18-hole championship golf course, a historic English Tudor manor lodge, and, in winter, sledding, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing. Mantua is also a practical base for Cuyahoga Valley National Park, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, and Aurora Farms Premium Outlets.

Summers in northeast Ohio are warm and humid, winters are cold and snowy, and skies stay partly cloudy year-round. Peak camping runs from late spring through early fall, and most private parks open only in the warm months. Roundup Lake RV Park, Woodside Lake Park, and the Streetsboro / Cleveland SE KOA Holiday all run a May 1 through October 31 season, with limited winter or long-stay options at some parks. Ohio state parks offer a longer season. West Branch State Park is open year-round, though from November 1 to April 1 the campground shifts to off-peak mode with portable toilets, no potable water, and only electric sites 1 through 33 plus the group sites open. Punderson State Park is also open year-round, but water and sewer hookups are not available during the winter season beginning October 31, and the park doubles as a snow sports destination. Bookings peak around Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day. Late September and early October bring cooler nights, thinner crowds, and strong fall color across the beech-maple woodlands.

The private parks near Mantua lean family-resort. Roundup Lake RV Park has a spring-fed lake, sandy beach, heated pool, mini golf, playgrounds, and a general store, with pull-through full-hookup sites plus cabins and park models. Woodside Lake Park covers 100 wooded acres with about 250 sites ranging from primitive to full RV, plus rustic cabins. The KOA offers full-hookup sites with 30 and 50 amp service, KOA Patio RV sites, and cabins. State park campgrounds are larger and more wooded. West Branch has about 200 sites across three loops, with 29 full-hookup sites and roughly 150 electric sites, and can accommodate large RVs. Punderson is mostly 20-amp electric with a smaller number of full-service sites. Streetsboro and Ravenna handle grocery and supply runs within a short drive.
