Campgrounds and RV parks near Maumee, OH

Maumee sits along the Maumee River in northwest Ohio, just southwest of Toledo and roughly five miles from the Lake Erie shoreline. The area gives RV travelers access to a mix of private campgrounds, Metroparks Toledo tent sites, and one full-service state park within a short drive. Private parks handle most of the RV demand. Big Sandy Toledo-Maumee Campground and Toledo East / Stony Ridge KOA Journey sit closest to the interstate corridor and cater to hookup rigs, while Twin Acres Campground, Bluegrass Campground, and Covered Wagon Camp Resort round out the family-oriented options in the surrounding countryside. For state-park camping on Lake Erie, Maumee Bay State Park sits on the shoreline east of Toledo and offers a large electric campground plus cabins and cottages. Metroparks Toledo adds primitive tent-only sites at properties such as White Oak in Oak Openings Preserve, useful for a night away from the RV between transit days.

Ohio State Park sites at Maumee Bay are handled through ReserveOhio. Campsite reservations open six months in advance to the day, and popular Lake Erie weekends can move within minutes of the morning release, so log in early on the release date. Metroparks Toledo campgrounds, including White Oak at Oak Openings, take reservations by phone or online and require booking at least 24 hours in advance. Private parks in the list above take direct reservations through their own websites or by phone; weekend and holiday stays should be booked well ahead, and pull-through hookup sites for larger rigs are the first to go.
