Campgrounds and RV parks near McComb, OH

Water is the main draw. Gilboa Quarry RV Park & Campground offers swimming, snorkeling, scuba training, and paddling in a deep spring-fed former limestone quarry with visibility typically running 30 to 40 feet. Van Buren State Park adds fishing and kayaking on Van Buren Lake, plus about 12 miles of bridle trails that also serve hikers and bikers. Families with kids tend to gravitate to Adventure Bound Pleasant View, where the pool, inflatable Aqua Fun Zone on the pond, jumping pillow, mini golf, and themed weekend events give younger campers a full day on site. Twin Lakes Campground has fishing ponds and a playground. Off site, Findlay is roughly 20 minutes away and offers museums, shopping, and restaurants for a rainy-day break.

The core RV season runs mid-May through mid-October. Summer brings warm days, warm quarry water, and the fullest event calendars at private parks. Peak-summer weekends at Gilboa Quarry, which runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day, typically fill by mid-Friday, and Adventure Bound Pleasant View books ahead for holiday weekends and themed events. Reserve early for Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day. Spring and early fall are quieter and cooler. Water clarity at Gilboa Quarry is often best in the cooler months of spring, and September delivers comfortable daytime temperatures, cool evenings, and lighter crowds. Fall foliage in the beech-maple woods around Van Buren peaks in mid to late October. Winter camping is possible but limited. Van Buren State Park now stays open year-round with reservations available through ReserveOhio after a recent conversion of all 61 sites to full hookups, while private parks operate on reduced services or close seasonal amenities like pools, water parks, and swim beaches once temperatures drop.

Sites in the area lean toward gravel or stone pads with picnic tables and fire rings. Full hookups are available at Van Buren State Park following the 2024 site conversion and at portions of Adventure Bound Pleasant View. Gilboa Quarry's RV Park sites offer water and electric with 50-amp, 30-amp, and 110-volt service, plus an on-site dump station. Van Buren has pit toilets and a dump station but no showers or flush toilets, so self-contained rigs are the best fit there. Expect a mix of overnighters passing through on I-75 and seasonal campers who return every weekend. Cell coverage is generally usable across the area on major carriers. Quiet hours are enforced at state and private parks, mosquitoes are active in mid-summer, and leashed pets are welcome at most campgrounds.
