Campgrounds and RV parks near Millbury, OH

Lake Erie is the main attraction. Maumee Bay State Park has a swim beach, a golf course, an inland lake for non-motorized boating, and a nature center with an accessible boardwalk that draws birders during spring and fall migration. Walleye and yellow perch fishing on the western basin is a primary reason many RV travelers come to the area. Maumee Bay also has paved bike and pedestrian trails, seasonal bike rentals, and shoreline picnic areas. Off-park, the Toledo Zoo, the Imagination Station science center, and the Toledo Museum of Art are all a short drive west, giving families rainy-day options without breaking camp.

Peak camping season runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day, when Maumee Bay State Park's beach, marina, and shower houses are all in full operation. Sites at the state park and at private resorts like Harbortown RV Resort fill quickly on summer weekends, and holiday weekends often sell out at the six-month booking window. Spring and fall are quieter and often more comfortable for RV travel. Bird migration through the Lake Erie marshes peaks in May and again in September and October, and both shoulder seasons see lower demand at most private parks. Bug pressure, especially from midges and mosquitoes near the marshes, is highest in late spring and early summer. Maumee Bay State Park Campground stays open year-round, but during the off-season the main shower houses are limited to two heated family restrooms and full-hookup sites lose water service. Smaller private and marina campgrounds in the area typically operate seasonally, so travelers planning off-season trips should confirm opening dates before booking.

Terrain around Millbury is flat, which makes leveling easy at most sites. Maumee Bay State Park's campground has 256 sites with 20/30/50-amp electric service, and a smaller block of 20 full-hookup sites numbered 1-11 and 21-29. Pads are paved and long enough for larger rigs, though tree cover on some sites can interfere with satellite reception. Biting insects near the marshes are a real factor from late May into August. Lake breezes help, but screen rooms and repellent are worth packing. Cell coverage is generally strong across the area given proximity to Toledo. The region is heavily agricultural and industrial in places, and interstate noise is noticeable at highway-adjacent parks. Lakefront and inland state park sites are much quieter. Grocery, fuel, and RV supplies are all easy to reach within a short drive of any of the listed campgrounds.
