Peak season in Holmes County runs from late April through the end of October, with the heaviest bookings clustered around fall foliage weekends in the first three weeks of October. Amish Country draws large day-trip crowds on Saturdays year-round, and holiday weekends such as Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day fill most private RV parks weeks in advance. Summer brings warm, humid days and afternoon thunderstorms, but nights cool off enough for comfortable campfires. Spring is quieter but wetter, with muddy sites possible after heavy rain. Wildflowers and farm activity make May a strong shoulder-season pick. Most campgrounds around Millersburg operate on a seasonal calendar, typically opening in April and closing in late October or early November. A handful of parks in the wider Amish Country area stay open year-round with limited winter services, though full amenities such as water hookups are usually shut off once nightly lows drop below freezing. Snow, ice, and hilly two-lane roads make winter RV travel here slow and best reserved for experienced drivers.

Roads through Holmes County are narrow, hilly, and shared with Amish buggies, so plan longer drive times than a map suggests and avoid rushing blind curves. Many businesses, including some restaurants and shops, close on Sundays, and cash is still preferred at roadside stands. Most RV parks near Millersburg offer 30- and 50-amp service, with full hookups common at Timbercrest Camp and RV Park and Scenic Hills RV Park. Sites tend to be grassy or gravel rather than paved, and levelers are useful given the terrain. Pets are generally welcome on leash, and campground WiFi is best treated as light-use only. Grocery runs are easy from Walmart in Millersburg or the bulk-food stores in Berlin and Mt. Hope.
