Campgrounds and RV parks near Mineral City, OH

Water recreation centers on Atwood Lake, a Muskingum Watershed reservoir known as one of the region's top sailing and pleasure-boating lakes. The park offers a sandy swimming beach, paved and unpaved trails through the surrounding hills, and food service at the on-site marina and lodge. Hikers, mountain bikers, and horse riders head to Camp Tuscazoar for its trail network and historic sites, including the Pioneer Point overlook and the Zoarville Station Bridge, with roughly 800 acres of trails threading the property above the Tuscarawas River valley. For rainy-day plans, Canton is about 20 to 30 minutes north. The area is home to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the McKinley Presidential Library and Museum, the First Ladies National Historic Site, Warther Carvings, and Lehman's Hardware, plus a large Amish community in nearby Holmes and Tuscarawas counties.

The prime RV season runs Memorial Day through Labor Day, when lake amenities and pools are open and weekend programming is at full strength. At Canton / East Sparta KOA Holiday, the large swimming pool, five-acre fishing lake with paddleboat rentals, eighteen-hole miniature golf course, planned weekend activities, hayrides, playground, and game room are all open Memorial Day to Labor Day. Weekends in July and August book earliest, especially waterfront and full-hookup sites at Atwood Lake Park. Spring and early fall trade crowds for cooler nights and quieter loops. Trails at Camp Tuscazoar Foundation Inc are usable year-round, and fall color in the Tuscarawas Valley typically peaks in mid to late October. Access can be restricted for scheduled events, since Camp Tuscazoar periodically hosts activities that may limit access to trails or to the central camp area, with upcoming restrictions listed on the camp's site. Winter camping options are limited but not absent. Canton / East Sparta KOA Holiday is open all year, and Camp Tuscazoar Foundation Inc stays open to the public year-round. Atwood Lake Park's main camping season is warm-weather focused, so verify dates directly before booking a shoulder-season trip.

Expect a mix of rustic and full-service depending on the property. Atwood Lake Park's Area H is the most amenity-heavy loop, featuring 142 full hook-up campsites with concrete pads and 50-amp power service, lake front views, a playground, a shower and restroom building with laundry, and a pavilion with a built-in fire pit. Sites elsewhere in the park run smaller and more wooded, which can be tight for larger rigs. The KOA properties are geared toward families and big rigs. Canton / East Sparta KOA Holiday accepts rigs up to seventy-five feet with full or partial hookups, cable TV, Wi-Fi, on-site propane and firewood, a swimming pool, playground, clean restrooms, hot showers, laundry, and a dump station. Pets are generally welcome on leash. At Muskingum Watershed parks, pets are allowed in camping areas, must be on a leash no greater than six feet at all times, and cannot be left unattended in a vehicle or on the campsite.
