Campgrounds and RV parks near Moreland Hills, OH

Cuyahoga Valley National Park is the anchor attraction, with the Towpath Trail, Brandywine Falls, and the scenic railroad all within a short drive. Cleveland Metroparks operates several nearby reservations, including the South Chagrin and North Chagrin sections, both offering hiking, picnic shelters, and bridle trails close to Moreland Hills. Families staying at Punderson State Park can swim, fish, or paddle hand-powered boats on the glacial lake, while the Streetsboro / Cleveland SE KOA Holiday runs a seasonal pool, fishing ponds, gem mining, a nine-hole disc golf course, and themed weekend events from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Aurora Farms Premium Outlets, the Cleveland Zoo, and Blossom Music Center are all reachable as day trips. Roundup Lake RV Park and Woodside Lake Park offer on-site swimming lakes and paddling, useful on hot afternoons when driving into the city holds less appeal.

Camping season in northeast Ohio runs primarily from May through mid-October. The Streetsboro / Cleveland SE KOA Holiday is open May 1 through October 31 with full amenities, and most private parks in the area follow a similar window. Punderson State Park, run by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, keeps its campground open on a longer schedule, though water and sewer hookups are shut off for the winter starting October 31. The manor-house lodge at Punderson operates year-round. Summer weekends, especially around Memorial Day, Independence Day, and Labor Day, book out weeks in advance at the KOA and lakefront parks. Fall brings cooler nights, strong leaf color through the Chagrin Valley and Geauga County, and easier weekend availability after mid-October. Winter camping is limited. Lake-effect snow off Lake Erie can be heavy east of Cleveland, and Geauga County frequently sees the highest totals in the region. Most private campgrounds close their water systems and pools well before Thanksgiving.

Sites near Moreland Hills range from wooded state-park loops at Punderson to open, resort-style layouts at Roundup Lake and Woodside Lake. Full hookups with 30 and 50 amp service are common at the private parks. Punderson offers a mix of non-electric tent sites, electric-only sites with 20-amp service, and a smaller number of full-service sites with 30/50 amp electric plus water and sewer, along with a central dump station. The KOA at Streetsboro offers pull-through sites with 30/50 amp electric, water, sewer, and cable, plus an on-site dump station, Wi-Fi, laundry, propane, and firewood. Outside firewood is generally discouraged in the region to limit pest spread. Expect humid summer afternoons, occasional thunderstorms, and mosquitoes near ponds and wetlands. Cell service is generally reliable throughout Geauga and Portage counties.
