Campgrounds near Mount Victory, Ohio
Mount Victory is a small village in Hardin County in northwest Ohio, roughly 50 miles northwest of Columbus. It is a historic village in northwest Ohio established in 1851, and the surrounding area is flat farm country with scattered lakes, small state parks, and county fairgrounds within a short drive, which makes it a practical base for RV travelers touring west-central Ohio.
Close-in options skew toward simple, utility-style stays. Hardin County Fairgrounds in Kenton offers on-grounds camping and books heavily around the annual fair. Back Forty Ltd and Hickory Grove Lake Campground sit in the rural countryside nearby, while Arrowhead Lake Campground provides a small-lake setting for anglers.
For a larger destination stay, Venture Out Resorts, Indian Lake Resort sits near Indian Lake, the second largest inland lake in Ohio, about a half hour southwest of Mount Victory. That corridor puts campers within reach of boating, fishing, and the Indian Lake State Park campground managed by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
Things to do near Mount Victory
Indian Lake is the main outdoor draw in the area. At 5,104 acres, Indian Lake is the second largest inland lake in Ohio, with numerous islands, expansive wildlife areas accessible by a network of channels, and approximately 30 miles of shoreline. There is unlimited horsepower at the lake, and swimming is permitted at the two beaches and four designated swim areas, and Ohio fishing licenses are required.
On land, the region offers short state park trails, wildlife areas along the lake's marshes and channels, a paved lakefront bikeway, and quiet county roads suited to cycling. In Mount Victory itself, the Mount Victory Historic District, which includes the main business block, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on April 19, 2001, and today the village includes antique shops and small local eateries. Since 1864, the Hardin County Fair has been a major event in the county, with livestock exhibits, entertainment, midway food and vendors, filling the fairgrounds in Kenton in late summer.

The prime RV window in this part of Ohio runs from late spring through early fall. Summers are warm, with July highs typically in the low 80s Fahrenheit, and this is peak season at Indian Lake, where day-trippers and campers descend on the lake in the summer months, and the park can get busy, especially on weekends. Reserve well in advance for summer weekends and holiday periods.
Spring brings changeable weather, migratory songbirds, and higher water levels. It is a good time for fishing and quieter campsites, though nights can still drop near freezing in March. Fall cools quickly, with foliage color and lower midweek demand at private parks. The Hardin County Fair in late August and early September drives a strong local booking spike around Kenton.
Winter is cold and often snowy. Most Indian Lake area campgrounds close or shift to limited seasonal service in the coldest months. RV travelers passing through in the off-season should confirm dump stations, water, and power availability by phone before arrival.
