Campgrounds near New Carlisle, Ohio
New Carlisle sits in Clark County in western Ohio, roughly between Springfield and Dayton, giving RV travelers access to both private parks and state-run campgrounds within a short drive. The area is flat farmland threaded by the Mad River and Little Miami River corridors, with several public parks preserving gorges, lakes, and mixed hardwood forest.
Private options closest to town include Enon Beach Campground, which offers RV sites near a swimming lake, and Green Valley RV Park, a smaller local park. Poor Farmers RV Sales and Services provides RV support in the region if repairs or supplies are needed mid-trip.
For state-park camping, John Bryan State Park sits in Greene County and surrounds Clifton Gorge, a deep chasm of the Little Miami River between Yellow Springs and Clifton. Kiser Lake State Park lies to the northwest, where boats with motors are not permitted on the 396-acre lake. Both are managed by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and share the same reservation system.
Things to do near New Carlisle
Hiking is the main draw at John Bryan State Park, where trails run along a limestone gorge cut by the Little Miami River, shared with the adjoining Clifton Gorge State Nature Preserve. The park adjoins Clifton Gorge and Glen Helen nature preserves. The Little Miami River provides stream fishing opportunities, with smallmouth bass, rock bass, and panfish among potential shoreline catches.
At Kiser Lake State Park, paddling and sailing dominate. Sailing and paddling are popular at Kiser Lake because boats with motors are not permitted on the 396-acre lake. Four small launch areas and one boat ramp provide access. Boats, kayaks and canoes can be rented at the park's marina, which is open seasonally. The park has 10 miles of bridle trails.
Closer to town, the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force in Dayton is a common day-trip stop, and Enon Beach Campground offers on-site swimming and fishing.

Peak RV season in this part of Ohio runs from late spring through early fall. Summer weekends and holidays book out first at state parks, and it is advisable to reserve well in advance, especially for lakefront sites at Kiser Lake. Spring brings wildflowers to the Clifton Gorge and stronger river flow on the Little Miami, though rainfall peaks in April and May, and tornadoes can form in this area and are more likely in spring.
Summer is warm and humid with regular afternoon thunderstorms. Fall delivers the most stable weather, with cooler nights, lower humidity, and hardwood color through October. Many private parks in the area operate seasonally, typically April through October.
Winter camping is limited. Potable water is shut off during the off-season at John Bryan, and campers should bring their own water supply from November through March. Kiser Lake State Park's campsites are available year-round, and the off-peak season runs from November 1 to April 1.

How to book
Ohio state park campgrounds use a single reservation system operated by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Reservations may be made six months in advance online or by calling (866) 644-6727 via ReserveOhio. This applies to both John Bryan State Park Campground and Kiser Lake State Park.
Site types vary. Kiser Lake State Park Campground offers Sherman Cabins, Camper Cabins, Electric, Non-electric, and Tent-only campsites along with Group Camping located away from the main campground. John Bryan State Park Campground offers non-electric and electric sites close to the park's hiking trails. Pets are permitted on all sites. The park also offers four group camps, and RVs are not allowed in group camp sites.
Private campgrounds such as Enon Beach Campground and Green Valley RV Park take bookings directly through their own websites or by phone. For summer weekends, reserve as soon as the six-month window opens for state parks, and several weeks out for private parks.
What to expect
Expect a mix of open, grassy private parks and semi-wooded state-park loops. At Kiser Lake, sites sit within rolling wooded hills, and all campsites are situated in the main campground where drinking water, restrooms, and a dump station are provided. RV length limits on electric sites go up to 55 feet, and length restriction on non-electric sites is 35 feet. All electric sites are pull-through.
John Bryan offers electric and non-electric sites with a central dump station, and pets are permitted on all campsites. Sites can feel close together and closer to a family campground feel than deep woods.
Enon Beach Campground offers hookup sites, pull-throughs, and lake swimming, and it sits a short drive from the Air Force museum in Dayton.
