Campgrounds near New Paris, Ohio
New Paris sits in western Preble County, Ohio, just off Interstate 70 and minutes from the Indiana border. The village works well as an RV base because it is within a short drive of Richmond, Indiana, and roughly an hour from Dayton, Cincinnati, and Indianapolis. Most nearby campgrounds cluster along the I-70 corridor, which keeps arrivals and grocery runs straightforward for renters.
The closest option in town is Natural Springs Resort, a large private park built around a 12-acre spring-fed lake in a former quarry, with full-hookup RV sites, tent sites, and cabin rentals across roughly 46 acres. Archway Campground offers a simpler, wooded property with electric sites and a dump station, functioning mainly as an overnight or short-stay stop. Deer Ridge Camping Resort and Grandpas Farm Camp Ground sit just across the state line near Richmond, and Richmond KOA Holiday rounds out the cluster with a standard KOA setup.
For renters wanting a public-land experience, Hueston Woods State Park is roughly a half-hour south and offers a year-round Ohio State Parks campground on Acton Lake.
Things to do near New Paris
On-site recreation drives most of the trip planning here. Natural Springs Resort centers on a spring-fed lake with a sandy beach, a heated pool with a splash pad, and a beachside café, along with catch-and-release fishing, watercraft rentals, scuba diving, a playground, sports facilities, and a general store. Archway Campground is quieter, better suited to walking the wooded property and unwinding between drives.
Off-site, Richmond, Indiana is the practical hub for groceries, restaurants, and rainy-day stops, including the Richmond Art Museum and Glen Miller Park. Families with older kids often drive south to Hueston Woods State Park for hiking through old-growth beech-maple forest, swimming at the Acton Lake beach, and the park's well-known fossil-hunting areas along exposed Ordovician limestone beds.

Peak camping season in this part of western Ohio runs from late spring through early fall. Private parks such as Natural Springs Resort, Archway Campground, Deer Ridge Camping Resort, Grandpas Farm Camp Ground, and Richmond KOA Holiday see the heaviest demand from Memorial Day through Labor Day, with weekends and holidays booking earliest. Summer at Natural Springs Resort in particular fills quickly because of the lake, beach, and water-park amenities that draw family groups.
Spring and fall are shoulder seasons. Days are cooler, bugs are lighter, and site availability improves, but some private amenities such as pools and beaches operate on a shorter calendar than the campground itself. Fall color across Preble County and the Whitewater Valley typically peaks in mid to late October.
Winter camping options are limited. Hueston Woods State Park has an off-peak season from November 1 to April 1, during which the shower house, dump station, and water remain available, and the A and B rows, cabins, and lodges stay open, making it the most reliable cold-weather choice near New Paris.

How to book a campground near New Paris
For private campgrounds around New Paris and Richmond, book directly with each park's own website or phone line. Natural Springs Resort takes reservations through its own site, and popular waterfront and full-hookup sites should be locked in well ahead for summer weekends. Archway Campground, Grandpas Farm Camp Ground, and Deer Ridge Camping Resort work the same way, while Richmond KOA Holiday can also be booked through the KOA network.
For Hueston Woods State Park, use the ReserveOhio system: reservations may be made up to six months in advance, either online or by calling (866) 644-6727. Reservations must be made at least one day ahead of arrival, and a 14-night maximum stay applies. Renters should confirm rig length, slide clearance, and hookup type before finalizing any booking.
What to expect
Terrain around New Paris is gently rolling farmland with wooded pockets, and most private parks sit on flat or lightly graded ground that suits larger RVs. Natural Springs Resort offers full-hookup pull-through and back-in sites along with tent sites and cabins across a 46-acre property. Archway Campground provides electric sites with a dump station on the property rather than sewer at each site.
Expect a family-heavy crowd in summer, with golf carts common at the larger resorts and quiet hours enforced after 10 PM at Hueston Woods. Cell coverage is generally solid along the I-70 corridor but can dip at more rural sites. Bring extra sewer hose, leveling blocks, and bug spray for the humid months, and pack layers for spring and fall, when overnight lows can drop quickly.

Booking is low-risk: RVezy applies a clear cancellation policy to every reservation, including a money-back grace period right after you book so you can lock in your dates with confidence. Refund eligibility after that depends on how far out you cancel. Because RVezy (not the individual host) manages cancellations, the process is consistent no matter which RV you choose, and host cancellations result in a refund or travel credit for guests. Pro tip: book early for Applefest weekend in September, then relax knowing the cancellation terms are spelled out before you confirm.

Whitewater Memorial State Park in Indiana sits roughly 30 minutes west with shoreline sites. Brookville Lake (Mounds SRA) is also about 30 minutes away for boating-focused campers. ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/find-a-property/hueston-woods-state-parkWhen is the best time for RV camping in New Paris, OH?
Late April through mid-October is the sweet spot for RV camping New Paris, with the peak running mid-May through September. Spring brings 60s to low 70s and blooming orchards, summer averages mid-80s highs (occasionally hitting 90 with humidity), and fall through late October delivers crisp 60s and gorgeous foliage along the National Road. Late September is the local insider pick: Applefest takes over the village, Wesler Orchards opens its corn maze and pumpkin patch, and overnight lows in the 50s mean perfect campfire weather. Winters drop into the 20s and 30s, so most campgrounds close, though a few full-hookup sites stay open year-round.
weather.gov/iln/I've never driven an RV before, will I be okay?
You'll be just fine, first time renting an RV in New Paris is genuinely beginner-friendly. The roads around the village are flat, lightly trafficked county routes, and I-70 runs straight east-west with wide lanes and easy on-ramps. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup covering driving, leveling, propane, water systems, and dump valves, and you'll have their phone number for the whole trip. Nervous about driving? Choose a smaller Class C motorhome or a campervan rental New Paris, both handle like a large van. Pro tip: do a practice loop on Washington Street and OH-121 before merging onto the interstate.

For medical or vehicle emergencies in town, Reid Health in Richmond, IN is about 15 minutes west, and Kettering Health Preble in Eaton is roughly 20 minutes south. Pro tip: snap photos of the RV at pickup and save the roadside number in your phone before you pull away.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat's a great RV road trip from New Paris, OH?
You're sitting on one of the best launchpads in the Midwest. A classic RV road trip from New Paris runs east on I-70 to Dayton's National Museum of the U.S. Air Force (about 40 minutes), continues to Columbus and Hocking Hills State Park (about 3 hours) for waterfalls and hemlock gorges, then loops back through Ohio Amish Country near Berlin. Another favorite heads west into Indiana to Brown County State Park (about 2 hours) for fall colors, or south on I-75 to Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky (about 4.5 hours). Cross-border travel into Canada isn't allowed on most listings, so confirm with your host before any northern route. Pro tip: time your return for Applefest weekend in September.
ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/find-a-property/hocking-hills-state-parkHow much should I budget for fuel?
Easy to plan for: Ohio gas prices typically track near or just below the national average, with diesel slightly higher. Class B campervans deliver 18-22 mpg, Class C motorhomes get 8-12 mpg, and big Class A coaches average 6-10 mpg. For a 4-day, 400-mile loop from New Paris to Hocking Hills and back in a Class C, plan on roughly $130-$200 in fuel depending on current prices. The Marathon on S. Washington Street in New Paris and the Speedway just over the Indiana line in Richmond are the easiest fill-ups. Pro tip: check GasBuddy in Richmond, IN where prices often dip a little lower than the Ohio side.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground?
Book sooner than you think, especially for Ohio State Parks. Reservations at Hueston Woods and Caesar Creek open up to 6 months in advance through the official Ohio State Parks reservation system, and summer weekends fill within days of release. Natural Springs Resort in New Paris takes reservations directly through their website and books up fast for July 4th, Applefest weekend, and Labor Day. For a flexible midweek trip, 2 to 3 weeks out is usually plenty. Pro tip: if your dates are locked, reserve the campsite first, then book your RVezy rental so you know exactly what site length and hookups you need.
ohiostateparks.reserveamerica.com/What are the local driving conditions like around New Paris?
Driving an RV around New Paris is refreshingly low-stress. The village sits at the I-70/OH-121 junction with flat terrain, wide lanes, and minimal congestion outside Dayton rush hour (7-9 AM and 4-6 PM). Watch for occasional farm equipment on rural roads in spring and fall, and stay alert during summer thunderstorms which can bring brief but heavy downpours. Winter ice from December through February is the main concern, which is why most renters stick to April-October. Covered bridges in Preble County have height and weight limits, so stick to marked truck routes if you're in a Class A. Pro tip: check the OHGO site or app for real-time I-70 conditions.
ohgo.com/What hookups and amenities do campgrounds near New Paris offer?
You'll find excellent infrastructure. Natural Springs Resort in New Paris offers full hookup pull-through and back-in sites (water, 30/50-amp electric, sewer), a dump station, potable water fills, a camp store with propane, and bathhouses. Hueston Woods State Park has electric sites, a centralized dump station, and potable water spigots throughout the loops. Whitewater Memorial in Indiana provides electric sites plus dump and fill stations near the entrance. Pro tip on where to park an RV in New Paris between stays: the Pilot Travel Center off I-70 in Richmond, IN (about 10 minutes west) has overnight truck parking and a dump station. Always confirm dump fees, which usually run $10-$20 for non-guests.
ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/find-a-property/hueston-woods-state-parkWhat's actually inside the RVs on RVezy?
More than you might expect. A typical motorhome rental New Paris comes fully equipped with sleeping for 4-8 (queen beds, bunks, convertible dinettes), a kitchen with fridge, freezer, stovetop, microwave, and sink, a full bathroom with shower and toilet, climate control with air conditioning and propane furnace, and dedicated seatbelted travel seats. Many listings include a TV, Bluetooth stereo, outdoor awning, and onboard generator for off-grid power. Some hosts add Wi-Fi hotspots, outdoor grills, and camp chairs. Pro tip: check the listing's amenities list and message the host if you need something specific like a CPAP-compatible outlet or a pack-and-play for a family RV trip New Paris.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=New%20Paris%2C%20OhioWhat add-ons and pickup options can I expect?
Lots of flexibility. New Paris hosts often offer popular add-ons like linen and towel packages, kitchen kits with pots, plates, and utensils, outdoor camping kits with chairs and a grill, extra generator hours for boondocking, and bike racks. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near New Paris, with delivery available to Natural Springs Resort, Hueston Woods, or your driveway for a per-mile or flat fee. Mileage policies vary, anywhere from around 100 miles per day included up to RV rental with unlimited mileage. Pro tip: bundle delivery plus linen and kitchen kits on your first trip and you essentially just need to pack clothes and food.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=New%20Paris%2C%20OhioHow does payment and the security deposit work?
It's straightforward and secure. You pay through RVezy's platform with a credit or debit card, never directly to the host, which keeps everything traceable and protected. A refundable security deposit is placed as a hold on your card before the trip (the amount is shown on the listing), and it's released after the host confirms the rig came back in the same condition. Avoid surprise charges by doing a thorough walkaround video at pickup and dropoff, then checking the mileage and generator hours together. Pro tip: keep all communication inside RVezy messaging so there's a clear record if any deposit question comes up later.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I take my RV rental into Indiana or further?
Yes, interstate travel is welcome and easy from New Paris, OH since the Indiana state line is just a few miles west on US-40. Most RVezy hosts allow travel anywhere in the continental U.S., so you can roll into Whitewater Memorial State Park, Brown County, or all the way to the Smokies. Travel into Mexico isn't permitted on RVezy rentals, and trips into Canada depend on the host and their coverage, so always confirm in writing through RVezy messaging before booking. Pro tip: a quick weekend loop through Richmond, IN's Historic Depot District and back is one of the easiest first cross-border RV outings you can make.
