Campgrounds and RV parks near Newcomerstown, OH

Newcomerstown sits in Tuscarawas County in east-central Ohio, along the Tuscarawas River and just off Interstate 77. The area puts RV travelers within a short drive of some of the state's largest camping destinations, including Salt Fork State Park, Ohio's largest state park at more than 17,000 acres of land surrounding a 2,952-acre lake. Coshocton, home to a restored 1800s canal town, lies roughly a half-hour west along U.S. 36. Close-in options span state, private, and resort-style parks. Rocky Fork Ranch is a large private resort south of town, while the main campground at Salt Fork State Park offers electric and full-hookup sites, heated shower houses, and a dump station, plus a campers' beach and boat access. Coshocton KOA Holiday, Hillview Acres Campground, and Deerassic Park Family Campground round out the mix with family-oriented amenities. Most sites within an hour of Newcomerstown accommodate travel trailers and motorhomes, with a combination of electric-only and full-hookup pads. The rolling terrain of the Appalachian foothills means shaded, wooded sites are common, and lake or river access is frequent.

Ohio State Parks, including Salt Fork, use a central reservation system. Reservations can be made at reserveohio.com or by calling the ReserveOhio call center at 866-644-6727. Campsite reservations open up to six months in advance of the arrival date, and all sites can be reserved online. There are no entrance fees for Ohio State parks, but camping and reservation fees apply. Private parks handle bookings directly. Coshocton KOA Holiday reserves through the KOA website or by phone, while Rocky Fork Ranch, Hillview Acres Campground, and Deerassic Park Family Campground each take reservations on their own sites. For summer holiday weekends, plan to book several weeks or months ahead. When state park sites appear full, cancellation-alert tools can help catch late openings.
