Campgrounds and RV parks near North Baltimore, OH

Outdoor activity in the area centers on Van Buren State Park, a 296-acre remnant of beech-maple woodland with a dedicated horseman's campground, four bridle trails totaling roughly 12 miles, multi-use trails for hiking and biking, and Van Buren Lake for fishing and kayaking. Day visitors and overnight campers share the trail network, and equestrian sites include corral facilities. On-resort recreation at Adventure Bound Pleasant View includes a swimming pool, the Aqua Fun Zone inflatable water park on the pond, mini golf, a fishing pond, a jump pad, a dog park, the Adventure Bound Express train ride, playgrounds, and a full calendar of themed events. Twin Lakes Campground adds a swimming lake with a 1,000-foot sand beach, free fishing in a 13-acre lake, a large playground, basketball and shuffleboard courts, and a sand volleyball court. Findlay, about 15 minutes south on I-75, has shopping, restaurants, and museums for rainy-day breaks.

Northwest Ohio has a humid continental climate with four distinct seasons, which shapes how campgrounds in the North Baltimore area operate. Peak RV season runs from Memorial Day through early October, when private resorts run their full event calendars and state park sites fill on weekends and holidays. Van Buren State Park is open year-round with reservations through ReserveOhio.com, and all 61 campsites were upgraded in 2024 to include full RV hookups with electric, water, and sewer service, so shoulder-season and winter stays are an option for self-contained rigs. Twin Lakes Campground stays open through winter for snowbirds with limited winter facilities, while Adventure Bound Pleasant View operates on a traditional camping season with amenities like the pool and water park running in summer. Spring brings the wettest stretch, with May experiencing the highest precipitation, averaging around 112 mm, and field sites can be soft after heavy rain. Summer is warm and humid with afternoon thunderstorms common. Fall delivers more stable weather, lower humidity, and easier site availability after Labor Day. Winter is cold and snowy, and most resort amenities close.

Expect flat terrain, mature shade trees in pockets, and easy I-75 access from any of the listed campgrounds. Van Buren State Park provides picnic tables at each site, pit toilets, a dump station, and drinking water, and the facility lacks showers and flush toilets, so full-hookup sites work best for self-contained RVs. Cell coverage in the park is generally usable but not strong. Adventure Bound Pleasant View offers full-hookup pull-through sites with water, electric, and sewer, plus 30-amp water and electric sites and rustic tent sites under shade trees, with bathhouses, laundry, and a dump station on property. Twin Lakes Campground has 85 stoned campsites with asphalt roads, full electrical service in 50- and 30-amp options, a dump station, laundromat, and WiFi, accommodating big rigs year-round with limited winter services. Mosquitoes can be active near ponds and woodlots in summer, and equestrian campers should confirm corral availability at Van Buren before arrival.
