Campgrounds near Pleasant Hill, Ohio
Pleasant Hill sits in Miami County in west-central Ohio, north of Dayton and within easy reach of the Great Miami River corridor. The village is small, so most RV camping is found in the surrounding farmland and lake country rather than in town. Travelers typically use it as a quiet base for exploring Dayton-area attractions, the Miami Valley bike trail network, and the canal-era lakes north of the city.
Options within a short drive include The Graystone Ranch, Dayton KOA Holiday in Brookville, and Green Valley RV Park, along with Poor Farmers RV Sales and Services for on-the-road service needs. For state-park camping, Lake Loramie State Park lies to the northwest and offers full-hookup, electric, and non-electric sites plus cedar cabins on a lake originally built as a feeder reservoir for the Miami and Erie Canal.
The mix suits families looking for pool-and-playground amenities as well as travelers who prefer a lakeside site with boating and fishing access.
Things to do near Pleasant Hill
Water recreation anchors the area. Lake Loramie has multiple boat launch ramps, a swimming beach, fishing piers, and seasonal canoe and kayak rentals. The lake is largely no-wake, making it well suited to paddlers and anglers targeting crappie, bluegill, channel catfish, and largemouth bass.
On land, hiking trails at Lake Loramie follow portions of the historic canal towpath and connect to the Buckeye Trail and the North Country National Scenic Trail. The park also has a disc golf course.
Closer to Dayton, the Miami Valley bike trail network offers more than 350 miles of paved trails on former rail corridors, and the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is roughly 25 minutes from Brookville.

The Pleasant Hill area has a humid continental climate with four distinct seasons. Late spring through early fall is the primary RV season. Dayton KOA Holiday operates seasonally from April through November, and most private parks follow a similar window. Lake Loramie State Park is open year-round for camping, but the swimming beach, boat rentals, and busiest programming line up with warm months.
Summer brings warm, humid days and the strongest demand at family campgrounds. Holiday weekends and themed events at Dayton KOA fill early, so booking eight or more weeks out is wise for peak dates. Harmful algal blooms have been documented at Lake Loramie during warmer months, with posted advisories when levels rise, so check park alerts before swimming.
Spring and fall are quieter with mild temperatures suited to hiking, biking, and fishing. Winter is cold with periodic snow; the state park stays open for cold-weather recreation when conditions allow, while most private RV parks in the area are closed.

We had an outstanding experience renting from Jonathan through RVezy. The RV was in excellent shape and carried our family all the way from Ohio to the Grand Canyon and the National Parks in Utah and back again. Everything worked perfectly, and when we had questions, Jonathan was extremely kind, responsive, and helpful. We wouldn’t change a single thing! We had the family vacation of our dreams.

Jonathan and Griselda were great to work with! Fast response to all my questions. The camper was great, clean, no issues at all. We had a great time and now our grandkids want us to by one. If we don't we will rent from them again.

How to book campgrounds near Pleasant Hill
Reservation systems differ by property. Lake Loramie State Park uses ReserveOhio: sites and cabins are booked in advance at reserveohio.com or by phone, with a rolling reservation window of up to six months ahead. Standard check-in is in the afternoon for both campsites and cabins.
Dayton KOA Holiday accepts reservations directly through the KOA website or its call center, with pull-through RV sites, tent sites, and cabins that book quickly for summer weekends. Private parks such as The Graystone Ranch and Green Valley RV Park take direct bookings by phone or through their own websites.
For RV renters, confirm rig-length limits and hookup type at the time of booking. Dayton KOA is big-rig friendly with 50-amp service and pull-through sites suitable for larger motorhomes.
What to expect on arrival
Sites in the area range from wooded, shaded pads to open lakeside spots. At Lake Loramie some sites sit close to the water for easy fishing access, while others are more open with less privacy. Cell coverage is generally usable but uneven, and Wi-Fi at private parks can be spotty even with signal boosters.
Approaches to Lake Loramie involve narrow rural routes, so plan the route carefully with a larger rig. At the state park, a limit applies on vehicles per site and boat trailers typically count as vehicles; overflow parking is available. Quiet hours are observed overnight.
Alcohol rules, pet rules, and prohibitions on fireworks and drones are posted at Ohio State Parks. Pets are welcome with proof of vaccinations but are not permitted on the swimming beach or inside park buildings.

The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special endorsement for personal-use motorhomes, travel trailers, or fifth wheels. rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionWhat if I need to cancel my Pleasant Hill RV rental?
Booking is low-risk because RVezy sets the cancellation policy, not individual hosts, and there is a money-back grace period right after you book so you can lock in your dates with confidence. The exact refund amount depends on how far out you cancel from your trip start date. If a host cancels, RVezy refunds guests or offers travel credits, which is reassuring in Ohio where spring storms can occasionally roll through the Miami Valley. You will see the full cancellation policy on RVezy before you confirm payment. Pro tip: book early to secure the best Pleasant Hill RV trip dates, knowing you have flexibility if plans shift.

help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my RV rental from Pleasant Hill across state lines or into Canada?

help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat kind of fuel economy and gas costs should I budget for?
Realistic budgeting makes your trip smoother. Class C motorhomes average 8 to 12 miles per gallon (MPG), Class B campervans get 16 to 22 MPG, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle (usually 10 to 14 MPG when towing). Ohio gas prices typically run a bit below the national average, with plenty of stations along I-75 near Troy and along US-36 through Pleasant Hill. For a 300-mile weekend loop in a Class C, plan on roughly $100 to $140 in fuel. Pro tip: many Pleasant Hill area Pilot and Flying J stations on I-75 have RV-friendly pumps and dump stations, easier than squeezing into a regular gas bay.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Pleasant Hill?
For Ohio State Park campgrounds (your best bet near Pleasant Hill), reservations open six months in advance on the official ReserveOhio system, and popular weekends at Indian Lake, Kiser Lake, and Buck Creek fill fast for Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day. Aim to book 3 to 6 months ahead for summer holidays, and 2 to 4 weeks ahead for regular weekends. Private campgrounds and KOAs around Dayton are usually easier to grab last-minute. Pro tip: midweek arrivals (Sunday through Wednesday) almost always have availability, and the campgrounds are blissfully quiet.
reserveohio.com/What are driving conditions like around Pleasant Hill?
You'll find Pleasant Hill one of the easier places in the country to drive an RV. The terrain is gently rolling farmland, roads like US-36 and State Route 48 are wide and well-maintained, and I-75 (just east through Troy) is a smooth corridor to Dayton or Toledo. There are no mountain passes or extreme grades to worry about. Watch for occasional Amish horse-drawn buggies in nearby Darke and Miami counties, slow down and pass with care. Summer thunderstorms can bring heavy rain, so check forecasts before long drives. Pro tip: avoid downtown Dayton during weekday rush hour (7-9 AM and 4-6 PM) if you're driving a Class A, the suburban routes through Vandalia are easier.
transportation.ohio.gov/programs/ohgo/ohgoWhat hookups and amenities do campgrounds near Pleasant Hill offer?

Ohio State Park campgrounds like Indian Lake and Kiser Lake offer electric hookups (30 and 50 amp), with full hookup (water, electric, sewer) sites available at Indian Lake and Buck Creek. Most parks have centralized dump stations and potable water fill stations included with your stay. Private parks like Paradise Isle on Indian Lake typically include full hookups, Wi-Fi, and laundry. Many listings include a generator for off-grid power, outdoor speakers, awnings, and even a TV. Wi-Fi is hit-or-miss in rural Ohio, but cellular coverage is strong along I-75 and US-36, so a hotspot works well. Pro tip: filter by sleeps count and RV type on RVezy to match your group, a Class C that sleeps 6 is the sweet spot for family RV trips in Pleasant Hill.
fmcsa.dot.gov/regulations/recreational-vehiclesWhat add-ons can I get, and how do pickup and drop-off work?
Hosts offer all kinds of helpful add-ons to upgrade your campervan rental in Pleasant Hill, think camp chairs, outdoor grills, bedding and linen packages, bike racks, generators, kayaks, and pet kits. Fees vary by host and are clearly listed on the booking page. Pickup is usually at the host's home in or near Pleasant Hill, with a full orientation included; drop-off is at the same location at your agreed return time. Many hosts also offer delivery to local campgrounds for a flat fee. Pro tip: if you're heading to Indian Lake, ask about a delivery-and-setup add-on, you'll arrive to a fully prepped RV without ever towing a thing.
miamicountyohio.gov/How does payment and the security deposit work on RVezy?
Payment is simple and secure: you pay through the RVezy platform when you book, never directly to the host, which protects both sides. A refundable security deposit is held separately from your booking payment (the amount is set by each host and shown on the listing) and released after your trip once the RV is returned in the agreed condition. To avoid any deductions, follow the host's checklist: refuel to the agreed level, empty the holding tanks at a dump station, and keep the interior tidy. Pro tip: take a quick video walk-around at pickup and drop-off, it is a smart habit that gives both you and your host peace of mind for your Pleasant Hill RV rental.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I rent an RV in Pleasant Hill during winter?
Yes, winter RV rental in Pleasant Hill is absolutely an option, and it's a quiet, magical time to explore western Ohio. Select hosts list four-season RVs with heated holding tanks, enclosed underbellies, and strong furnaces, so you'll stay cozy even when temperatures dip into the 20s. Winter is perfect for staying at private parks with full shore power hookups, or for a basecamp visit to Hocking Hills (about 2.5 hours east) where frozen waterfalls are stunning in January. Pro tip: message the host to confirm winterization details, and book a site with 50-amp service so you can run a space heater alongside the furnace for ultimate warmth.
