Campgrounds and RV parks near Richfield, OH

The Cuyahoga River runs through Cuyahoga Valley National Park, fringed with forest trails, waterfalls, and quiet coves. Visitors can ride the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad and hike, bike, or horseback ride along the Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail. Brandywine Falls and the Ledges are two of the most-visited stops for families. Cleveland Metroparks, including Furnace Run Metro Park in Richfield, add extensive hiking and picnic areas close to town. Blossom Music Center hosts summer concerts a few minutes south, and Hale Farm and Village near Bath offers a living-history stop that works well for kids on rainy afternoons. The park is open year-round, but April through October is peak season and popular trailhead lots fill quickly, so an early start is recommended.

Most campgrounds in the region operate seasonally from April through October, with limited year-round options. Spring shoulder weeks bring cool nights and muddy trails, but sites are easier to book and waterfalls run high with snowmelt and rain. By Memorial Day the corridor between Cleveland and Akron gets busy, and reservations are strongly recommended on summer weekends when private parks fill quickly. Summer is peak season for both the national park and private campgrounds. Blossom Music Center concert nights push demand at nearby parks including Streetsboro / Cleveland SE KOA Holiday, and holiday weekends often sell out weeks ahead. Humidity is high and afternoon thunderstorms are common. Fall foliage typically peaks in mid to late October in the Cuyahoga Valley, delivering cooler nights and lighter crowds. Winter operations are limited: many private grounds close water lines by late October, and only a handful accept RVs through the cold months. Lake-effect snow squalls off Lake Erie can affect travel into the region from November through March.

Terrain around Richfield is rolling and wooded, with campgrounds tucked into farmland, small lakes, and second-growth forest. The region sits at moderate elevations in the Cuyahoga watershed and experiences sharp seasonal swings, so overnight lows can drop suddenly in spring and fall even when afternoons feel warm. Hookup levels vary. Larger private parks such as Streetsboro / Cleveland SE KOA Holiday offer full hookups, pull-throughs, and Wi-Fi, while smaller grounds may provide only electric and water with a central dump station. Cell coverage is generally strong along the I-77 and I-271 corridors and spotty inside the deeper valleys of the national park. Expect mosquitoes near the river bottoms in summer, deer activity at dawn and dusk on local roads, and quiet-hour enforcement at most family parks.
