Campgrounds and RV parks near Richmond Heights, OH

Punderson State Park anchors most outdoor itineraries in the area. The park features a 150-acre natural lake and a historic manor house lodge, with facilities for swimming, fishing, camping, golf, disc golf, and sledding in winter. Only hand-powered boats and boats with electric motors are permitted on the lake, and hiking trails loop through the surrounding woods. Roundup Lake RV Park in Mantua is a resort-style stop built around a spring-fed lake with a sandy swimming beach, kayak, canoe, and paddleboat rentals, a swimming pool, mini-golf, a jumping pillow, and planned family activities. Woodside Lake Park offers a similar wooded-lake experience with cabins, water play features, and a camp store. The Streetsboro / Cleveland SE KOA Holiday adds a seasonal pool, on-site ponds, a playground, and a KOA Patio site option, and puts campers within a short drive of Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Blossom Music Center, and Aurora Farms Premium Outlets.

Northeast Ohio has a humid continental climate with four sharply defined seasons. Summers are warm and humid, and winters are cold and snowy, with lake-effect snow common on the southern shore of Lake Erie. The prime RV window runs from mid-May through mid-October, when private parks are fully staffed and lakes and pools are open. Private campgrounds in the area are strictly seasonal. The Streetsboro / Cleveland SE KOA Holiday operates May 1 through October 31 with full amenities and only limited long-stay availability outside those dates. Roundup Lake and Woodside Lake follow a similar warm-season schedule. Punderson State Park is the main year-round option in the area, though water and sewer service are not available during the winter season beginning October 31, and only a portion of sites and services remain in use. Late spring and early fall are the sweet spot for RV renters who want cooler nights, fewer bugs, and easier weekend availability. July and August book heaviest, and holiday weekends at the resort-style parks fill well in advance.

Sites near Richmond Heights range from wooded state-park loops to open, resort-style RV parks. Punderson offers electric sites plus two full-hookup sites, with a shaded, family-friendly feel and easy lake access. Expect a quieter atmosphere, tighter roads, and standard state-park amenities rather than pools or activity programs. The Streetsboro KOA is a straightforward turnpike-adjacent stop with pull-thru sites for big rigs, 30/50-amp service, full-hookup options, a dump station, and clean bathhouses. Roundup Lake and Woodside Lake are larger, activity-heavy parks with many seasonal campers, so short-stay sites can be limited on peak weekends. Bring leveling blocks, bug spray, and a plan for firewood: state and private parks in Ohio typically require locally purchased wood to limit pest spread. Cell service is generally reliable across the region.
