Richville camping overview
Richville is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in southern Perry Township, Stark County, Ohio, sitting just southwest of Canton and near Massillon within the Canton-Massillon Metropolitan Statistical Area. State Route 627 passes through the community, which had a population of 3,209 at the 2020 census.
The surrounding area offers a mix of family-focused RV parks, resort campgrounds with water features, and a scout-run wilderness site, making Richville a practical base for travelers exploring Stark County, the Ohio and Erie Canal corridor, and Amish Country to the southwest.
Options within a short drive include Canton / East Sparta KOA Holiday to the south along the I-77 corridor, and family-resort parks such as Baylor Beach Park; Water Park and Campground, Clays Park Resort North Jellystone, and Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort. For a more rustic setting, Camp Tuscazoar Foundation Inc lies southeast in the Tuscarawas River valley and offers a wooded, scout-heritage experience distinct from the resort-style parks nearby.
Things to do near Richville
The Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton is the region's signature attraction, and the McKinley Presidential Library and Museum honors the 25th president with historic exhibits and a planetarium. The surrounding Stark County parks system offers trails, fishing lakes, and paved cycling paths, including sections of the Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail.

Many private campgrounds in the Richville area operate on a seasonal schedule from spring through mid-October, with peak demand from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Canton / East Sparta KOA Holiday, however, is open all year, and its pool typically runs from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Summer weekends at resort-style parks like Clays Park Resort North Jellystone and Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort routinely sell out weeks in advance, and holiday weekends often fill by early spring.
Spring brings unpredictable weather and muddy sites along the Tuscarawas, but it is a quieter time to book and often has better site selection. Fall is a strong shoulder season, with cooler nights, foliage color peaking in mid-October, and lighter weekday crowds.
Winter camping options are limited. Many parks reduce sites and amenities from November through March, and water systems at seasonal parks are typically shut off. Confirm winter access directly with the campground before booking.

How to book campgrounds near Richville
Private campgrounds in the Richville area take reservations directly through their own websites or by phone, and most require a deposit at booking. Popular resort parks such as Canton / East Sparta KOA Holiday, Clays Park Resort North Jellystone, and Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort open summer bookings months in advance, so reserving early is important for pull-through sites and cabins.
Ohio state park campsites are booked through reserveohio.com, which opens reservations up to six months prior to arrival. Group and scout facilities such as Camp Tuscazoar Foundation Inc handle bookings through the foundation office.
Confirm length, slide-out, and hookup compatibility with the rental rig before booking, and ask about big-rig access on interior roads at older parks.
What to expect on the ground
Terrain around Richville is gently rolling farmland transitioning into the wooded hills of the Appalachian Plateau to the south and east. Sites at resort parks are generally level with full or partial hookups, paved or gravel pads, and mature tree cover. Rustic and scout-oriented sites offer more shade and privacy but fewer amenities.
Cell service is reliable across Stark County on major carriers, and grocery stores, propane, and RV supply are available in Canton, Massillon, and North Canton. Interstate 77 provides straightforward big-rig access from the north and south, while state routes into Amish Country to the southwest are narrower and slower.
Summer brings mosquitoes near water, and thunderstorms can arrive quickly in the afternoon, so awning tie-downs are recommended.

On RVezy, travel trailers typically start around $75 to $150 per night, campervans and Class B motorhomes run roughly $150 to $250, and larger Class A or Class C motorhomes range from $175 to $350 per night. rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Richville%2C%20OhioWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Richville, OH?
Good news for first-timers: a standard driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Richville. Ohio does not require a Commercial Driver's License or any special endorsement for personal-use motorhomes or travel trailers under 26,000 pounds, which covers every rig on RVezy. You need to be at least 25 years old and added as an approved driver, and RVezy verifies your ID through the platform during booking, so there is no paperwork to print or notarize. Visiting from another country? Bring your home license plus an International Driving Permit. Most renters are surprised how quickly the verification step wraps up.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039008774-Understanding-approved-driver-requirementsIs insurance and roadside assistance included with my Richville RV rental?
Yes, every RVezy booking in Richville includes a renter protection plan and 24/7 roadside assistance built right into the reservation. The protection plan covers most damage to the vehicle during your trip, and you choose your level of coverage during checkout, so you can match the plan to your comfort level. Roadside help is just a phone call away whether you are parked at Clay's Resort Jellystone Park outside Canton or driving the back roads through Holmes County Amish Country. That peace of mind is one big reason families feel confident booking a motorhome rental in Richville.
rvezy.com/insurance-and-protectionWhat if my plans change? Can I cancel my Richville RV booking?
Booking is low risk. RVezy applies a clear, standardized cancellation policy to every reservation, including a grace period after booking when you can cancel for a full refund. Beyond that grace window, your refund depends on how far out your trip is and whether unusual events like severe weather interrupt your plans. Because RVezy, not the host, manages the cancellation policy, you get the same fair treatment whether you are renting a campervan in Richville for a Pro Football Hall of Fame weekend or a fifth wheel for a longer Ohio loop. You will see the full policy and timeline during checkout before you confirm.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360037736674-Understanding-the-cancellation-policy-for-guestsCan I bring my dog on an RV rental in Richville, OH?
Absolutely, pet-friendly RV rentals in Richville are easy to find on RVezy. Just use the Pet-Friendly filter on the search page to see hosts who welcome dogs, and sometimes cats, in their rigs. Once you are on the road, Stark County is a great region for traveling with pets: the Ohio and Erie Canalway Towpath Trail is dog-friendly, Quail Hollow Park in Hartville has shaded loops, and most local campgrounds including Clay's Resort Jellystone Park allow leashed dogs. Message the host before booking to confirm any pet fee and the number of pets allowed, and you are set for tail-wagging adventures.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Richville%2C%20Ohio&PetFriendly=trueCan the RV be delivered to my campground or driveway near Richville?
Yes, RV delivery Richville is one of the most popular options on RVezy, especially for first-time renters. Many local hosts will tow or drive the RV directly to your campsite at places like Clay's Resort Jellystone Park in North Lawrence, Bear Creek Resort in Stark County, or Atwood Lake Park about 30 miles south, then level it, hook up power and water, and walk you through every system. That means zero highway driving stress on day one. Use the Delivery filter when searching, and message the host to confirm the delivery fee (often a flat rate plus per-mile charge) and the destination. It's the easiest way to start an Ohio RV trip.

Spring from April to mid-May is quieter and cheaper, though expect rain showers. Winter is chilly with temperatures often in the 20s and 30s Fahrenheit and many parks closed, but some four-season hosts and campgrounds stay open for cozy Amish Country getaways. ohiotraveler.com/How much should I budget for fuel on a Richville RV trip?
Fuel is easy to estimate once you know your rig. Class B campervans average 18 to 22 miles per gallon (MPG), Class C motorhomes get 10 to 14 MPG, Class A coaches typically 7 to 10 MPG, and travel trailers depend on your tow vehicle but expect a 20 to 30 percent drop from its normal MPG. Ohio gas prices typically run a bit below the national average, often $3.00 to $3.50 per gallon for regular unleaded. For a 300-mile weekend in a Class C at 12 MPG, plan on about $75 to $90 in fuel. Pro tip: GetGo and Sheetz stations along US-30 and I-77 near Canton offer competitive prices and easy big-rig access.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book a campground near Richville?
Book sooner than you think, especially in summer. Ohio State Parks like Portage Lakes and Atwood Lake (managed by the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District) open reservations up to six months out through reserveohio.com, and prime summer weekends fill within days. Private parks like Clay's Resort Jellystone Park and Yogi Bear's Jellystone in Uniontown often sell out 2 to 3 months ahead for July and August. Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Week (early August) in nearby Canton is the single busiest week of the year, so lock in lodging 4 to 6 months in advance. Midweek and shoulder-season stays are far easier and usually cheaper.
reserveohio.com/What are the local driving conditions like around Richville?
Driving conditions around Richville, OH are very RV-friendly. The terrain is gently rolling, major routes (US-30, I-77, State Route 21, and US-62) are wide and well maintained, and traffic is light compared to bigger metros. Watch for occasional slow-moving Amish horse-and-buggy traffic on rural roads in Holmes and Wayne counties (orange triangle signs mark sharing zones), and be cautious in winter when lake-effect snow off Lake Erie can dust the area north of Canton. Avoid downtown Canton's narrower streets in a big rig; instead, park at a campground and drive your tow vehicle in. Pro tip: the Ohio Department of Transportation OHGO app gives live traffic and construction updates.
ohgo.com/What amenities do campgrounds near Richville offer for RVs?
Local campgrounds are well equipped for any rig. Clay's Resort Jellystone Park and Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park: Akron-Canton offer full hookups (50-amp electric, water, and sewer), Wi-Fi, dump stations, laundry, and big-rig pull-through sites. Ohio State Park campgrounds like Portage Lakes provide electric sites, potable water fill stations, free dump stations for registered campers, and hot showers. Atwood Lake Park offers full hookups and a marina. Most private parks have camp stores stocked with firewood, ice, and propane. Pro tip: top off fresh water at your campground's fill station before checkout, dump black and gray tanks on the way out, and you'll roll into your next stop ready to relax.

Many hosts also offer delivery to nearby campgrounds, a popular choice for an easy first-timer experience. Mileage policies vary, with daily caps from 100 miles to unlimited, so check the listing or message the host. Confirm pickup and drop-off times in writing through RVezy messaging to keep your timeline crystal clear.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106394-How-to-pay-for-your-bookingHow does payment and the security deposit work?
Payment is simple and secure through RVezy, with no cash or side deals with the host. You pay the rental total, including the nightly rate, fees, taxes, and your chosen renter protection plan, by credit card when you book. A refundable security deposit is held on your card before your trip starts. The amount varies by RV and host, typically $500 to $1,500, and is released after drop-off assuming no damage or policy violations. To avoid hiccups, do a video walk-around with your host at pickup and drop-off and document fuel and tank levels. That five-minute habit is the best way to get your full deposit back fast.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360038106214-How-the-security-deposit-worksCan I find a cheap RV rental in Richville for a quick weekend?
Definitely. Affordable RV rental options in Richville pop up on RVezy year-round, especially among smaller travel trailers and pop-ups that often start around $75 to $100 per night. To save even more: travel Sunday through Thursday, book in April or October shoulder seasons, look for hosts offering delivery so you can skip a tow vehicle, and use the price filter to sort low to high. A family RV trip from Richville for a two-night, delivered trailer stay at Clay's Resort often comes in under $500 all-in. Message the host about weekly discounts even on shorter stays, since many will offer a deal to fill open dates on their calendar.
