Campgrounds and RV parks near Roaming Shores, OH

Roaming Shores sits in rural Ashtabula County in northeast Ohio, roughly an hour from Cleveland, Erie, and Youngstown. The village is built around Lake Roaming Rock, a 550-acre private lake that is the largest of its kind in Ohio, with about 30 miles of shoreline and a marina. Access to the lake itself is limited to RomeRock Association members and their guests, so most RV visitors base themselves at nearby private campgrounds and use the surrounding lakes, wineries, and Lake Erie beaches as their playground. The closest full-service option is Millbrook Resort in Rock Creek, followed by Kenisee Lake RV Campground and Pine Lakes Campground toward Jefferson. Kenisee's Grand River Camp and Canoe sits closer to Geneva along the Grand River, and Jeffco Lakes Campground rounds out the local cluster. Most parks in this area are private RV resorts rather than state-run campgrounds. Pymatuning State Park, about 20 minutes east on the Ohio-Pennsylvania line, is the main public campground within easy driving distance and a common overflow choice when private resorts fill up on summer weekends.

Private RV resorts in this area handle their own reservations. Millbrook Resort books directly through its office, Kenisee Lake RV Campground is a Thousand Trails property with reservations through Thousand Trails or on a nightly basis for non-members, and Kenisee's Grand River Camp and Canoe, Pine Lakes Campground, and Jeffco Lakes Campground each take bookings by phone or through their own websites. For public camping, Pymatuning State Park uses ReserveOhio.com or the state call center at (866) 644-6727, with campsites reservable up to six months in advance and cabins up to a year ahead. Summer weekends and holiday weeks fill early, so booking two to three months out is a safe target for July and August. Note that low-clearance bridges on some rural approach roads, including Mill Creek Road west of Kenisee Lake, mean RV drivers should follow campground-provided directions rather than default GPS routing.
