Campgrounds and RV parks near Sardinia, OH

Water recreation drives most trips to this area. William H. Harsha Lake at East Fork State Park spans about 2,160 acres and allows unlimited-horsepower boating, water skiing, paddling, and swimming from a designated beach. Rocky Fork Lake covers roughly 2,080 acres with a marina, multiple boat ramps, fishing piers, and public swim beaches. Anglers target largemouth and smallmouth bass, crappie, bluegill, saugeye, muskellunge, and channel catfish across both lakes. White Oak Marina & Campground offers direct Ohio River access, where catfish and bass fishing are common. On land, East Fork's trail system supports hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian use along a long perimeter trail, and Rocky Fork features a scenic gorge, dolomite caves in the surrounding area, a disc golf course, and a nature center. Both parks run seasonal naturalist programs geared to families.

Peak RV season runs from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, when Ohio State Parks collect visitor passes at East Fork and campground amenities are fully staffed. Summer weekends and holiday weeks book out fastest, especially waterfront and full-hookup loops. Reserve early if a specific site or loop matters. Shoulder seasons are strong picks for RV renters. Late April through mid-June brings wildflowers, comfortable daytime temperatures, and better site availability, though May is typically the wettest month with frequent thunderstorms. September and early October bring warm days, cool nights, and fall color across southern Ohio's hardwoods. Winter camping is available at Rocky Fork and East Fork on a reduced-service basis. During the winter camping season, facilities may be limited, water at full-service sites may be shut off, and fees are reduced accordingly. Snow is possible from December through March, so travelers should plan for winter driving and cold-weather RV setup.

Expect a mix of paved, gravel, and grass pads across the area. East Fork State Park Campground offers electric and full-hookup sites with 20, 30, and 50 amp service, paved pads, picnic tables, fire rings, showerhouses, flush toilets, a dump station, camp store, and beach and boat ramp access within the park. Rocky Fork State Park's campground is split between upper and lower loops with electric, non-electric, and full-hookup options, plus a camp store, showers, laundry, and a dump station. White Oak Marina & Campground offers water and electric sites along the Ohio River with boat ramp access. Leashed pets are permitted at Ohio state park campsites, and cell coverage is usually adequate for basic navigation and reservation confirmations.
