ATV riding is the signature activity in the immediate area. Perry State Forest features roughly 4,700 acres in Perry County with about 16 miles of APV trails, 8 miles of bridle trails, and 24 miles of hiking trails on former coal-mining terrain, with rugged, sometimes barren ground and elevation changes. New Lexington is the closest full-service town for supplies near Perry State Forest, and Glouster and Nelsonville serve the Burr Oak area. Hookup availability varies widely. Burr Oak State Park's main campground features primarily non-electric sites with a smaller number of electric sites, plus showers, flush toilets, and a dump station.
