Campgrounds and RV parks near South Zanesville, OH

South Zanesville sits just south of Zanesville in Muskingum County, near the confluence of the Muskingum and Licking rivers in the foothills of Appalachian Ohio. The area gives RV renters quick access to state park camping, private full-hookup parks, and small rural campgrounds within a short drive of I-70 and US-22. Dillon State Park, on Dillon Lake northwest of the city, is the largest public campground in the immediate area and anchors most trip planning. Closer to town, private options like Wolfies Campground and National Road Campground offer easier hookups and shorter drives to grocery stores, fuel, and the Zanesville riverfront. Perry Backwoods Campgrounds and Hidden Hill Campground round out the rural options for renters who want quieter, wooded sites. The region is well suited to shorter RV trips built around fishing, boating on Dillon Lake, and touring the pottery towns, covered bridges, and Amish country of east-central Ohio.

Dillon State Park is reserved through the Ohio State Parks reservation system at reserveohio.com. The campsite booking window opens six months ahead on a rolling daily basis, and popular lakeside and full-hookup sites at Dillon are among the first to fill for summer weekends. A valid credit card and vehicle information are required at booking. Private parks in the area, including Wolfies Campground, National Road Campground, Perry Backwoods Campgrounds, and Hidden Hill Campground, take reservations directly by phone or through their own websites. Policies on deposits, cancellations, and minimum-night stays on holiday weekends vary by park, so confirm before arrival. RV renters should have exact length, slide count, and hookup needs on hand when booking, since older loops at state parks have shorter pads and tighter turns.
