Campgrounds near St. Henry, Ohio
St. Henry sits in Mercer County in western Ohio, surrounded by farmland and within a short drive of two large canal-era reservoirs that anchor most of the area's RV camping. Grand Lake St Marys State Park, roughly 15 miles east, is the closest full-service state park campground and borders Ohio's largest inland lake at 13,500 acres. Lake Loramie State Park lies about 20 miles southeast and offers a smaller, quieter reservoir with a sandy beach.
Private options fill in the gaps. Rossburg Acres Campground, south of town near Rossburg, is a family-owned park established in 2002 with stocked ponds, a sandy beach, and a rotating slate of activities. Fox Lake Campground sits across the Indiana line and adds a swim pond and larger tent areas. Easy Campground rounds out the nearby private choices.
The region is flat, agricultural, and easy to navigate by RV, with the two state parks handling most first-time visitors and the private parks catering to longer stays and family reunions.
Things to do near St. Henry
Water recreation is the main draw. Grand Lake St Marys allows unlimited-horsepower boating on 52 miles of shoreline with a 300-foot no-wake zone, eight state-operated launch ramps, and fishing for largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, walleye, and channel and flathead catfish. Swimming in the lake itself is not permitted due to water quality, but the campground has a pool and splash pad.
Lake Loramie has a wide no-wake zone that suits paddlers and pontoon boaters, plus an open zone for power boating. The park has a sand beach, an 18-hole disc golf course, and more than 8 miles of hiking trails, including sections that follow the historic Miami and Erie Canal towpath as part of the Buckeye Trail and the North Country National Scenic Trail.
On rainy days, families often drive to Eldora Speedway near Rossburg or explore small towns like Fort Loramie and Minster.
