Campgrounds and RV parks near Sullivan, OH

Sullivan sits in Ashland County in northeast Ohio, a rural crossroads within easy driving distance of Cleveland, Akron, and Lake Erie. The village is best known to RV travelers as the closest community to the 838-acre Findley State Park, which offers camping, paddling, fishing, swimming, hiking, mountain biking, and picnic shelters. Rolling farmland, secondary hardwood forest, and small stocked lakes shape the surrounding landscape, giving the area a quiet, agricultural character. Private RV parks fill in around the state park, ranging from family resorts with pools and organized activities to no-frills seasonal lots. Because Sullivan lies off the interstates, it draws campers who want a slower base for weekend fishing, cycling on rural roads, and day trips north to the Lake Erie shore or east to the Cuyahoga Valley. Most parks operate on a spring-through-fall calendar, and the immediate area has limited services, so RVers typically stock up in Wellington, Ashland, or Medina before arriving.

Findley State Park is the only public option in the immediate area. Reservations are required; they may be made up to six months in advance online or by calling (866) 644-6727, using the ReserveOhio portal run by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Sites can be reserved up to 6 months in advance, and booking early is recommended especially for summer weekends or if you need one of the limited full hookup sites. Private parks, including Rustic Lakes Campgrounds Inc, Claremar Twin Lakes Camping Resort, Camp HiYo, and Cleveland/Sandusky Jellystone Park, are booked directly through each operator's website or by phone rather than through a statewide portal. Holiday weekends fill first, so lock in dates as early as the calendar allows.
