Campgrounds and RV parks near Thornville, OH

Thornville sits in Perry County on the eastern shore of Buckeye Lake, roughly 30 miles east of Columbus and within easy reach of Newark, Lancaster, and Zanesville. The village is a practical base for RV renters who want lake access, rural back roads, and day trips to central Ohio parks without a long drive from a major airport. The surrounding area is served entirely by private RV parks and family campgrounds. Buckeye Lake / Columbus East KOA Holiday and Lakeview RV Park and Campground sit close to the lake itself, while The Grove By The River, Hidden Hill Campground, and Lazy River At Granville offer river-adjacent and wooded settings a short drive north and west. Buckeye Lake State Park is day-use only and does not have overnight camping, so RV stays in the region rely on the private parks listed above. Most sites in the area accommodate travel trailers and Class C motorhomes, with full-hookup and pull-through options at the larger private parks. Cell coverage is generally reliable along the Interstate 70 corridor and thins out on the back roads through the Hocking Hills foothills to the south.

Buckeye Lake State Park is a day-use facility with no overnight camping, so RV stays in the area are handled directly by private operators. Buckeye Lake / Columbus East KOA Holiday, Lakeview RV Park and Campground, The Grove By The River, Hidden Hill Campground, and Lazy River At Granville each take bookings through their own websites or by phone. Many require a deposit at booking and set minimum stays for summer weekends and holidays. Travelers who want to add a state park campground stay elsewhere in the region can use ReserveOhio, operated by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. The campsite booking window opens six months in advance of arrival, and popular summer weekends can be claimed quickly. For an RV rental trip, confirm site length, hookup type, and slide-out clearance before booking.
