Camping near Troy, Ohio
Troy sits in Miami County in west-central Ohio, along the Great Miami River and Interstate 75, roughly 20 miles north of Dayton. The area is flat farm country with river corridors and glacial lakes within an hour's drive, giving RV travelers a mix of full-hookup private parks close to the interstate and quieter state-park camping to the west.
Closer-in options include Poor Farmers RV Sales and Services and Green Valley RV Park, which offers full-hookup back-in and pull-through sites with 30 and 50 amp service. Dayton KOA Holiday in Brookville adds resort-style amenities including a pool, ponds, a dog park, and cabins for renters without a rig.
For a public-lands option, Kiser Lake State Park near St. Paris offers lakeside sites about 30 minutes west of Troy. Enon Beach Campground, south of Springfield, rounds out the choices with a spring-fed swim lake and easy I-70 access.
Things to do around Troy
Base camp at Dayton KOA Holiday puts families within reach of the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton, plus the Miami Valley bike trail network. Enon Beach Campground offers on-site swimming, boating, and fishing in its private lake, and provides easy access to Springfield-area attractions.
On the water, Kiser Lake is popular for sailing and paddling since motorboats are not permitted on the 396-acre lake, and it offers good catches of largemouth bass, bluegill, channel catfish, crappie, and wiper. The park has five fishing piers along the shoreline and an adjacent wetlands nature preserve with a boardwalk trail.

The main Ohio camping season runs from spring through fall. Kiser Lake State Park's campground stays open with an off-peak season from November 1 to April 1, when services scale back. Green Valley RV Park operates year-round, which makes it practical for shoulder-season and winter travel when state-park amenities are reduced.
Summer weekends and holidays fill quickly at Kiser Lake, so booking well in advance is advised. The 300-foot swimming beach at Kiser Lake is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and the on-site marina operates seasonally.
Winter brings freezing temperatures, snow, and icy roads that can complicate maneuvering larger rigs at rural parks. Spring is the wettest stretch of the year in this part of Ohio, so campers should expect muddy sites and prepare for thunderstorms from late spring into summer.

How to book campgrounds near Troy
Ohio State Parks, including Kiser Lake, use the ReserveOhio system. Reservations can be made up to six months in advance online or by calling 866-644-6727. Off-peak rates apply from November 1 to April 1.
Private parks book directly. Dayton KOA Holiday reserves through the KOA website and offers KOA Rewards discounts. Green Valley RV Park books through its own site, and Enon Beach Campground takes reservations by phone or through its own booking channels. Poor Farmers RV Sales and Services is primarily a sales and service operation, so call ahead to confirm any overnight availability.
For holiday weekends and any summer Friday or Saturday, aim to book eight or more weeks out at the most popular parks.
What to expect at Troy campgrounds
Expect a mix of private RV resorts and simpler state-park loops. Kiser Lake State Park offers 77 campsites split between electric and non-electric, with all electric sites configured as pull-throughs. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring, and the campground has a dump station, a bathhouse, and four camper cabins, but no full hookups. Shade is limited on many of the open, grassy sites.
Dayton KOA Holiday offers full hookups with 30 and 50 amp service, KOA Patio sites, deluxe cabins, and glamping tents. Green Valley RV Park provides level, full-hookup back-ins with water, sewer, and 30 and 50 amp electric. Enon Beach offers big-rig pull-throughs, full hookups, a laundromat, hot showers, and propane.

rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Troy,OhioWhat license do I need to rent an RV in Troy?
Good news: a regular Ohio driver's license is all you need to rent an RV in Troy. Ohio does not require a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or any special RV endorsement for motorhomes or trailers used recreationally, so the same license you use for your daily car works perfectly. To rent an RV in Troy through RVezy, approved drivers are generally required to be at least 25 years old, and you'll verify your ID through the platform during checkout. Visiting from outside the United States? Bring your home country license plus an International Driving Permit (IDP) and you're ready to roll.

Booking an RV rental in Troy is low-risk because RVezy, not the individual host, sets the cancellation policy across the platform. Refund amounts depend on how far in advance you cancel from your trip start date, and exceptions may apply for special circumstances. You can review the full, current cancellation policy on the RVezy Help Center before you confirm your booking. The takeaway: it's safe to lock in that summer Troy Strawberry Festival weekend now and finalize details later.

Many Troy-area hosts even leave bowls, leashes, or towels for muddy paws. Once you're rolling, your pup will love Duke Park's wooded trails along the Great Miami River, the leashed walking paths at Treasure Island Park, and dog-friendly state parks like Kiser Lake (about 30 minutes north) and Buck Creek (about 45 minutes east). Message the host before booking to confirm any pet fees or size limits, and your four-legged co-pilot is set.
ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/find-a-property/kiser-lake-state-parkCan the RV be delivered to my campground in Troy?
Yes, RV delivery in Troy is one of the most popular ways to start a trip, especially if you're new to RVing or want to skip driving a big rig. Many local hosts will deliver, level, and hook up the RV at your campsite at places like Newcomer's Lakeside Resort in Pleasant Hill, Lake Loramie State Park, or Kiser Lake State Park, then walk you through every system before they leave. Delivery fees are usually based on mileage from the host's location. Filter for Delivery on RVezy, message your host with the campground name, and your motorhome rental in Troy will be ready and waiting when you arrive.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Troy,OhioHow far can I drive on a Troy RV trip, and how does mileage work?
You have plenty of road to play with on a Troy RV trip. Hosts set their own mileage policies: many include 100 to 150 free miles per night, some offer RV rental with unlimited mileage, and extra miles typically run $0.35 to $0.55 each. From Troy you're about 20 miles to Dayton, 70 miles to Columbus, 75 miles to Cincinnati, 150 miles to Indianapolis, and 200 miles to the Hocking Hills. If you're planning a longer loop, filter for unlimited-mileage listings or message the host to add a mileage package upfront. That way the only thing you're counting on the highway is good playlists.
rvezy.com/rv-search?SearchAddress=Troy,OhioWhere are the best campgrounds near Troy?

Kiser Lake State Park (about 30 minutes northeast) is a peaceful, no-motor-boats spot perfect for paddlers. Buck Creek State Park near Springfield (about 45 minutes east) has lakefront electric sites and a swimming beach. Dayton KOA Holiday in Brookville offers full hookups and family amenities about 30 minutes south. For a unique stop, Poor Farmer's Campground near Fletcher is just a short drive away. ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/find-a-property/lake-loramie-state-parkWhen is the best time of year for RV camping in Troy?
The sweet spot for RV camping in Troy is late April through mid-October, when daytime highs run from the upper 60s in spring to the mid-80s in July and August, then back to crisp, colorful 60s in October. June is iconic because of the Troy Strawberry Festival on the downtown levee, and fall foliage along the Great Miami River peaks in mid to late October. Winters drop into the 20s and 30s with occasional snow, so many local hosts pause rentals from December through February. Pro tip: September is the local insider's favorite, with warm days, cool nights, and wide-open campground availability across the Miami Valley.
weather.gov/iln/I've never driven an RV. Is renting in Troy good for first-timers?
Troy is genuinely one of the friendliest places in Ohio for first time renting an RV. The streets around downtown are wide and flat, I-75 runs straight north-south with easy on-ramps, and country roads in Miami County have very little traffic outside of rush hour. Every RVezy host gives you a full walkthrough at pickup covering hookups, slides, leveling, propane, and dumping, and you can message them anytime during your trip. If driving still feels intimidating, book a travel trailer to tow with your own truck, or pick a host who offers delivery. Add in 24/7 roadside assistance and your nerves drop fast.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailWhat happens if I have a breakdown or roadside issue near Troy?
You're covered. Every RV rental in Troy on RVezy includes 24/7 roadside assistance as part of the protection plan, so help is one phone call away whether you're parked at Lake Loramie, stuck on US-36, or pulled over on I-75. Roadside support handles flat tires, dead batteries, lockouts, fuel delivery, and towing to the nearest qualified service center. For mechanical questions, your host is also just a message away, and Troy has several RV-friendly service shops along the I-75 corridor between Piqua and Vandalia. Save the RVezy support number in your phone before pickup, and you'll roll out feeling completely backed up.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/34008759079835-RVezy-renter-protection-plans-in-detailCan I take my Troy RV rental on a longer road trip across state lines?
Yes, an RV road trip from Troy is a fantastic launchpad because you're within a day's drive of incredible destinations. Popular routes include Hocking Hills State Park (about 3 hours east), the Smoky Mountains near Gatlinburg (about 6 hours south), Mammoth Cave in Kentucky (about 4 hours), Mackinaw City in northern Michigan (about 6 hours), and Niagara Falls (about 6 hours northeast). Interstate travel is allowed on RVezy rentals, and cross-border trips to Canada may be permitted with host approval and proper documentation, while travel into Mexico is not allowed. Message your host with your route, and the insurance and mileage details will be clear before you confirm.
help.rvezy.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039340074-Insurance-coverage-validityWhat should I budget for fuel on a Troy RV trip?
Fuel is usually the biggest variable cost, but it's manageable. Class B campervans average 18 to 22 miles per gallon (MPG), Class C motorhomes 8 to 12 MPG, and big Class A rigs 6 to 9 MPG. Ohio gas prices typically run a bit below the national average. For a 300-mile weekend loop in a Class C, plan on roughly $90 to $130 in fuel depending on current prices. Pro tip: fill up at the Pilot or Love's on I-75 in Vandalia or Piqua, where pull-through RV lanes make fueling painless.
eia.gov/petroleum/gasdiesel/How far in advance should I book campgrounds near Troy?
For Ohio State Parks like Lake Loramie, Kiser Lake, and Buck Creek, reservations open up to six months ahead through the ReserveOhio system, and prime summer weekends, especially around Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day, sell out within days of opening. Private parks like Dayton KOA and Poor Farmer's Campground typically book 2 to 3 months in advance for weekends. Weeknights and shoulder-season trips in April, May, September, and October are much easier and often available a week out. Pro tip: book your campground first, then your RV on RVezy, so your dates and site size match perfectly.
ohiodnr.gov/go-and-do/plan-a-visit/make-a-reservationWhat are driving conditions like around Troy and the Miami Valley?
Driving an RV around Troy is refreshingly low-stress. The terrain is gently rolling farmland, elevations stay around 900 feet, and I-75 north and south of town offers wide lanes and frequent rest areas. Watch for low overpasses on older state routes like SR-55 and SR-41, plan around morning and evening rush hours in Dayton (about 20 miles south), and use truck-friendly GPS to avoid downtown Troy's historic public square, which has tight turns around the courthouse. Winter brings occasional snow and ice from December to February, so most RV trips run April through November. Otherwise, expect calm, scenic, easy driving across Miami County.

Payment is straightforward and fully handled through RVezy: you pay securely online with a credit or debit card when you book, never in cash to the host. Deposit amounts vary by RV and you'll see the exact figure before you confirm. To avoid issues, do a quick walkaround video at pickup and dropoff, follow the host's mileage and generator rules, and return the RV clean. Simple, transparent, and stress-free.

Some Walmart and travel center locations along the I-75 corridor in Vandalia and Dayton allow overnight RV stays with manager permission. For a true campground experience, head to Lake Loramie State Park, Kiser Lake State Park, or Newcomer's Lakeside Resort in Pleasant Hill, all within about 30 minutes.
