Campgrounds near Uhrichsville, Ohio
Uhrichsville sits in Tuscarawas County in eastern Ohio, within easy reach of the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District (MWCD) lake system. The region is defined by rolling hills, reservoir shorelines, and a mix of public lake parks and smaller private campgrounds. Most RV traffic in the area heads to the MWCD parks, which manage flood-control reservoirs on roughly 54,000 acres of land and water across the watershed.
Close-in options include Woods Tall Timber Lake Resort and Camp Tuscazoar Foundation Inc, a historic scout property along the Tuscarawas River that also accepts RV campers. Larger lake campgrounds are a short drive out: Tappan Lake Park sits along U.S. Route 250 northwest of Cadiz, Atwood Lake Park is north near Mineral City and Sherrodsville, and Clendening Marina anchors the quieter Clendening Lake to the southeast.
Access is straightforward from Interstate 77, and the city itself provides fuel, groceries, and hardware for provisioning before heading to the lake.
Things to do near Uhrichsville
Water-based recreation dominates the area. Tappan Lake covers 2,350 acres with a 399 horsepower limit, making it a strong option for water skiing, tubing, and powered fishing boats. Atwood Lake enforces a 25 hp limit and is better suited to sailing, kayaking, and pleasure boating, with a swimming beach at Atwood Lake Park. Clendening Lake has a 10 hp limit, keeping it quiet for anglers and paddlers.
On land, Tappan Lake Park offers 8 miles of hiking trails and access to Ohio's Buckeye Trail. Atwood Lake Park adds additional trails suitable for hiking and biking. Camp Tuscazoar Foundation Inc maintains a backcountry trail network above the Tuscarawas River for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Nearby Zoar Village, a National Historic Landmark, is an easy day trip.

The main MWCD camping season runs roughly April through October, with facilities, marinas, beaches, and full-service loops operating at capacity. MWCD defines its winter season as November 1 through March 31, so amenities scale back sharply outside the warmer months. Summer weekends at Tappan Lake Park and Atwood Lake Park book heavily, especially around the Fourth of July.
Spring and early fall bring cooler nights, thinner crowds, and easier reservations. Fall foliage in the Tuscarawas hills typically peaks in mid to late October, and the trail systems at Camp Tuscazoar and around the MWCD lakes are at their best in this window. Anglers continue to fish through fall, and MWCD cooperates with the Ohio Division of Wildlife for fishing management.
Winter is quiet. Snow and ice are common, most seasonal loops and cabins close, and day-use access is limited. Shoreline access at MWCD lakes generally continues year-round, but plan on very limited services.

We used the camper for a camping trip over a weekend. The camper was clean and spacious for us and our 3 kids. We had an issue with the air conditioner. When asked about the issue was promptly addressed.

How to book a campsite
MWCD parks, including Tappan Lake Park, Atwood Lake Park, and Clendening Marina, take reservations through the district's own online system at reserve.mwcd.org rather than Recreation.gov. Campsites can be booked up to 12 months ahead. The reservation holder must be at least 18 and must occupy the site, camping check-in is 4:00 PM, camping check-out is 2:00 PM, and quiet hours run from 11 PM to 7 AM.
A single reservation may combine multiple campsites as long as it is no longer than 14 nights and all dates are consecutive or overlap. Woods Tall Timber Lake Resort and Camp Tuscazoar Foundation Inc handle their own bookings directly through the operator, so contact them early for summer weekends.
What to expect on site
Tappan Lake offers 500 or more campsites with full hook-up, electric, and primitive options, along with a swimming beach and concession stand, shower house and laundry, camp store, dump stations, and paddleboard, kayak, and bike rentals. Atwood Lake Park sits on a peninsula with a mix of waterfront and interior sites, electric and full-hookup loops, showers, a dump station, and a sandy swimming beach. Clendening Marina keeps things simpler, with a boat-focused footprint on a primitive lake.
Camp Tuscazoar's RV area is smaller and quieter, with electric and water service on limestone pads. Pets are allowed in MWCD camping areas on a leash no greater than 6 feet and cannot be left unattended on the site or in a vehicle. Rangers patrol regularly and enforce quiet hours.
