Campgrounds and RV parks near Union City, OH

Union City sits on the Ohio-Indiana border in Darke County, surrounded by flat farmland, small creeks, and a handful of family-run campgrounds within a short drive. It is a practical base for RV renters who want quiet rural sites without the crowds of a major state park, while still keeping Dayton, Richmond, and I-70 within easy reach. Most of the nearby camping is privately owned. Fireside Resort Campground is a family-oriented park with organized activities and a rental banquet hall. Rossburg Acres Campground has been family-owned since 2003 in the quiet farmland of Darke County, roughly equidistant between Dayton and Fort Recovery, with 110 seasonal sites and 36 open temporary sites. Arrowhead Campground sits near the state line, and Fox Lake Campground rounds out the closest options for travellers heading west. Expect a mix of back-in RV sites with 30 and 50 amp electric, water, and access to dump stations. The terrain is gently rolling and mostly wooded around the campgrounds, so leveling is straightforward for most rigs.

For private parks, book directly with each campground. At Rossburg Acres Campground, camping reservations must be made in advance and require a credit card. Bookings can be made through their RoverPass listing, by email, or by phone. Fireside Resort Campground accepts reservations through its own website, and Arrowhead Campground and Fox Lake Campground take bookings directly. For Ohio state parks in the wider region, reservations run through the ReserveOhio system, either online at reserveohio.com or by phone with the state call center. Campsites and unique getaways open for booking six months prior to the desired arrival date, and full payment is due at the time of reservation, including nightly fees, the reservation fee, and any applicable taxes. For holiday weekends, aim to book the day the six-month window opens for state parks, and four to eight weeks ahead for private parks.
