Campgrounds and RV parks near Valley City, OH

Valley City sits in Liverpool Township in the northwest corner of Medina County, roughly 25 miles southwest of downtown Cleveland and within easy reach of Akron, Elyria, and the Lake Erie shoreline. The area is rural, with rolling farmland, small lakes, and wooded parcels that support a cluster of privately owned RV parks rather than large public campgrounds. Most overnight and seasonal camping near Valley City is at family-run parks. American Wilderness Campground in nearby Grafton sits approximately 25 minutes from downtown Cleveland and about 15 minutes from Elyria, with wooded and lakeside sites, big-rig pull-throughs, and 30/50-amp service. Pier-Lon Park, in the western portion of Medina County, is a family park built around a five-acre lake, with full-hookup sites that accommodate rigs up to 60 feet. Willow Lake Park Inc, Chatham Lakes Campground, and Maple Lakes Campgrounds round out the nearby options, all within about 30 to 45 minutes of Valley City and clustered around small private lakes used for swimming, fishing, and paddling.

Nearly all camping near Valley City is at privately owned parks, so bookings are made directly with each campground rather than through a central state or federal reservation system. Phone reservations remain common at family-run properties such as Pier-Lon Park and Maple Lakes Campgrounds, while American Wilderness Campground and larger operators also take requests through their own websites. For summer weekends and any holiday, reserve as early as possible, since area parks report peak dates filling weeks in advance and many properties give priority to returning seasonal campers. When calling, provide the length of the RV so the campground can help identify an appropriate site, and confirm whether the site is back-in or pull-through, amp service, and any restrictions on pets, alcohol, or quiet hours, which vary noticeably from park to park in this area.
